I honestly DO NOT want them together. I feel like it will 1. take away from the core three xander, buffy, willow and will 2. ruin Xander and Buffy's relationship. (Optional 3: And that means Xander will either leave the show or die.)

I agree with your analysis, Wyndham -- they'd be a great match on that level, too. She is apparently immune to getting killed, and he is genetically incapable of leaving her. They negate each other's big relationship problems. hahaha lmao I don't know if it is a perfect match in the capacity that they are soul mates, but I do believe that that is where the story is headed, and it isn't far-fetched territory. All through The Long Way Home I thought it was Xander who kissed Buffy. Whether they will last is a whole different story. Worst case scenario: Xander leaves town, or turns evil, and I don't see either of those happening.

I still have trouble with the blocking and timeline of the true love's kiss spell. In a nutshell, I just don't see it as in character for Xander, who is utterly loyal to Buffy and clearly very protective and responsive in a crisis, wouldn't have kissed her just on spec more or less right after he was satisfied with Amy's explanation of the rules.
I mean, even if for argument's sake he was certain he wasn't in love with her just then, he knows he has been in love with her before. You're telling me with zombies storming the castle and Buffy in a mystical coma he wouldn't say "ah, what the hell" and *try*?
My own fanwank is that he was about to do exactly that in 8.03, and the look we saw on his face was surprise that A) the way was blocked, and B) at who was blocking it.

I think at that point he would have done it. And for whatever reason he closed his eyes and allowed Satsu to do the kissing.
The gleam in his eyes was one of wanting. He was thinking about doing it!

Well, Buffy did dream that she and Xander were sleeping together in the Long Way Home. So, maybe. True. I'm curious to find out what that's all about. I hope little things like that are eventually explained/become relevant.

I hope little things like that are eventually explained/become relevant. Well that was her nightmare. But it alludes to her having dreamed it before, so it isn't only from Amy's spell. Dreaming of sleeping with Xander and hurting him referred to a past dream she had. So it must be something on her mind, or in her subconscious.

I don't think Amy arrived in Buffy's dream until she's ripped out of the window. It's such a rapacious change of tone in her dream is seems likely to correspond to Amy (who is the Dragon burning her) taking over her dream.
Prior to that, her dream is moving at the same slightly surreal, but still conversational pace as almost every other dream we've seen her have. Ergo, I tend to think that the Dawn talk and the seduction attempt were all her.

I never understood the "I know" you as being a remark to show the dragon was Amy, good call. I thought perhaps it was supposed to symbolise Twilight or something. Well that explains that then. And yeah I wouldn't mind seeing Bander happen. I gotta say I kind of think it's inevitable this season. We've had the Buffy/Xander kissing dream, the panel suggesting Xander would be the one to kiss Buffy in an attempt to wake her up, Buffy come across shirtless Xander in the training room (shirtless guy always a sign he's going to be Buffy's love interest) Xander call Buffy "incredibly sexy," and Xander admit to having sexy dreams about Buffy in 'Wolves At The Gate.' Not to mention how close they've been all season so far. And now both Satsu and Renee are out of the way, which gives me more reason to think Buffy/Xander are going to happen. I wouldn't mind it. Bander was the first ship *ever* to happen in the show, from the moment he saw her and fell off his skateboard. It'd be kinda nice and 'full circle' if it was the last for her character. And I kind of think it's a natural progression of that relationship. Because it's always had a romantic undercurrent there. Every season we've got something, from the high school seasons with Xander very obviously crushing on Buffy, to season 5 with Jane Espenson even stating they kept Bander intentionally in 'I Was Made To Love You' to season six with Xander joking about Buffy getting lucky with him before he walks down the aisle, to the very 'parental vibe' a lot of fans picked up on in early season 7.
