I think Buffy and Xander being together would be the absolute perfect thing to do. Why? Because that would really, really annoy both Spike and Angel.

In the first issue of Season 8, it pretty much implys they are getting getter. Xander even kised Buffy to break the spell... Joss has actually confirmed, thanks to CowboyGuy, that it was actually Satsu who kissed Buffy. Yeah, uh, jumping out of lurkdom for a sec 'cause this is driving me crazy. But when and where did Joss say this? Just a little disappointed here cause I was hoping it was Xander.

Wasn't it confirmed in the book with the whold cinimon flavored kiss thing? I thought it was pretty definately made clear that Sarsu was the one who kissed Buffy. BTW. Welcome to the world of the posting Epica!

I met him @ comic-con, and had time to ask him one question. So I said "Was it Satsu that kissed Buffy?"
He nodded yes, and exclaimed "I thought I made it obvious with the whole lip-gloss thing". Laughing. I replied that it was what I thought but I hoped it was Xander. He just smiled and signed my comics.

So now I know that it was Joss at Comic-Con through CowboyGuy that we learned it was Satsu. But how were we the readers supposed to know that it was Satsu? And how could Satsu wake up Buffy if she needed to be kissed by her one true love or whatever it was? I don't understand this at all! Someone please explain. I need help!

And how could Satsu wake up Buffy if she needed to be kissed by her one true love or whatever it was? I don't understand this at all! Someone please explain. I need help! Well, the answer is there, you just have to look closely. First of all, Amy said that the person who kissed Buffy had to be in love with her, but she didn't have to be in love with them. The key was that when Buffy woke up, she said she had a funny taste in her mouth and then yelled "Cinnamon buns!" Later she asked to borrow Satsu's chapstick and noted that it was cinnamon flavored, the implication, of course, being that she kissed Buffy wearing that same chapstick. I hope that helped. If you go back and re-read those couple of issues (3 and 4, I think) hopefully you will see what we are talking about.

Huh. It never occured to me that there was a connection between "CINNAMON BUNS!" and the cinnamon lip gloss. (Mostly because I've always found artificial cinnamon flavoring to be completely different from natural cinnamon flavor). But that makes sense I suppose. Damn! I was so hoping it was Xander, based on that look on his face. At least you could definitely tell he was thinking about it.

Ah...I see. So Satsu is in love with Buffy. Thanks Commandercool. Interesting, yet crappily explained in the comics. Sometimes these comics go right over my head.

I agree that by the look on Xander's face/eyes that he was thinking about it! He was all doe-eyed and stuff! LOL
I wouldn't object to a Bander hook-up. I just fear the implications. We all know things never end well in Jossverse 'ships. I don't want them to hate each other, or have one die, etc.
That would sting too much for me to enjoy it as a fan.

I think that the cinnamon lip-gloss thing is quite clear. Also, Xander does have a look on his face which could mean he was thinking of kissing her or he's just shocked because she woke up and shouted "CINNAMON BUNS!" in everyones ears lol.

That could be. But I prefer to think he was all thinking
"Ooh I looooove her still! Does Willow know??!?! I'll just close my eyes and see what happens..."
LMAO!!

I think we were meant to think it could be Xander.. He was so thinking about it. About time for some Bander... A lot of people believed it could be Willow.

I don't know. The look on his face as Willow said "Okay?" indicated a pretty heavy surge of emotion, and if I didn't know any better I'd say his eye seemed to be tearing up. There was definitely something going on in his mind. We can debate about it until we're red in the face, but there was definitely something weighing on his mind at that moment. Could be anything really, I'm just really curious of what the teary-eyed look meant.

He might of been thinking "well I loved her before, so maybe for Buffy's sake I should give it a try." It could go either way I suppose.

They are definitely setting Xander up as a potential romantic interest. First, let's face it, he's hot this season. WAY more than previous ones (check gym scene, and the scene with the giant suitcase). Tall dark and handsome, a little rough with the eye patch... yumm. Ok, second, At the beginning of Buffy's dream she invites Xander to come to bed with her. I 'bought slid out of my seat! It didn't come to anything, but Joss is definitely setting up some chemistry from Buffy's side. Third, it does seem that he is over Anya enough to think about dating again... He was heavy-flirty with Renee, at least toward the beginning of the season.

I can't imagine Buffy and Xander together. I know that a lot of you have compared it to Angel/Cordy, but that relationship (or the dream of it) really worked for me. I wanted those two to actually end up happily ever after. But of course, I also got to the point where I really liked Buffy/Spike. Joss could probably bring me to a place where I like the idea. But I'm not seeing it yet. I really think that Buffy needs to end up with either Angel or Spike in the end. A "regular guy" may be what she wants, but it's not what she needs, IMO.

What do you guys the think is the longest BtVS love triangle, or other shape? LOL
With Xander, it looks like his is becoming:
Xander<--->Buffy Xander<--->Renee Xander<--->Anya

Buffy and Xander would be a fantastic couple... the 'incest' angle is just something people attribute to it to avoid dealing with it. Inter-Scooby dating is the *rule* in the Buffyverse, but that would be the incest?
I think the longest running triangle is... still the first one. Buffy-Xander-Angel. That one has been textual in the series since, oh, 1.05. And, since the writers have done so much to keep Buffy/Angel fans hoping and Buffy/Xander fans hoping, it is still implicitly a triangle.

Agreed.
I'm over Angel/Buffy, and Spike/Buffy.
In reality, who still pines away for their first love anyway? I know that they hold special pieces of each other's hearts and all...
But I think Buffy/Xander is the winning ship for me. Much love, and trust is held between these two. Xander is utterly devoted to Buffy. And few men know Buffy in the way Xander does.
Truth is, he is -not- her brother. Although they are close, similar to kin. I think the people who are saying these things just don't want to see them together.
