Come back to the forum. I think that it was completley wrong for Sue to say that fans and proffesionals can't get along. Brian Lynch does it, Georges Jeanty does it, Nathan Fillion does it even David Boreanaz does it. Don't let a few bad eggs (oh bad buffy season 2 joke sorry) ruin this for you or anyone else!! As a matter of fact, I think Brian Lynch has left Whedonesque for a similar reason. Successful coexistence depends on how touchy/sensitive the forum-in-question's members are, and/or how touchy/sensitive the VIP-in-question is, really.

Did Brian Lynch say he was going to stop posting or has he just not posted in a while?

Former, although I don't know if he's taken it back since then.

Yeah, but he (Brian Lynch) is still here. And thanks to a rather, okay, make that bloody disgusting display of craziness, Scott Allie's not. So while some may have signed away all interest in the comics, thanks for wrecking it for those of us who still give a crap. Go jingle your extra pocket change elsewhere, fine, but why wreck it for others? And no, I'm not confusing you with sueworld; this is a blanket statement. And really, "touchy/sensitive"? I think the correct term for the accusatory vibe given in that thread was toxic. As professionals, they can't hit back, and so they either take the crap, or move on to where they are appreciated. And touchy or not, mutual respect is key. Freedom of speech (as you so eloquently petitioned for in the other thread) is a right, yes, but I consider it ironic, hypocritical, and in bad taste to bash someone for their exercise of that right, when you're rallying for free speech (again, blanket statement, not aimed at you). Catch-22 perhaps, but at least have the sense of irony to see it that way.
But back to the point of this thread, I think the title says it all. If you're gonna ship, make sure you've got the right address.

Does anyone else want a forum group hug? Or a forum toxic colonic?

Can we have an alcohol binge and then a purge in the vomitorium instead?

Catch-22 perhaps, but at least have the sense of irony to see it that way. Well, I didn't bash Allie for his exercise of that right -- I only debated a statement he made in regards to the bathroom scene, which he had encouraged us to -- so I don't think I said anything contradictory there. (For the record: from what people have said on the subject here and on LiveJournal, I've gotten the impression that most of them were also okay with his post until that finger-wagging about the bathroom scene -- with the unfortunate phrasing "The comments I've made about Spike having raped Buffy ...") Oh, and, I didn't get the impression that Allie used to visit this forum before this, and just stopped because of that thread. I got the impression that he only popped up for that thread, said what he was going to say, then wandered off again. (Didn't he even state as much?) I guess you can argue that that fight may discourage him from visiting again, though.

Did Brian Lynch say he was going to stop posting or has he just not posted in a while? Well, it's been nearly 5 weeks since the last issue came out, and the conversation about it has pretty much run its course, so maybe he just hasn't had anything to say. We'll see what happens when #8 is released tomorrow and people start discussing it. There was at least one post that I remember (maybe 6 weeks ago or so?) where a certain member just really ripped him and his work, and said some really harsh, un-constructive things. Not only did Brian reply to it, but he did it with a sense of humor, and continued to post afterward, so take that for whatever it's worth...

Enisy, Scott has visited the site before as an unregistered user. Of all the times we've contacted him, it'd be impossible for him to not have. He even published a fan letter in a past issue that recognized us twice.

But like Scott said, he publishes most letters.
I came upon this subject a little late. After seeing this thread, I made the "I Support Scott Allie" mini-banner, and read the rather disgusting thread in question.
I have to say I'm a bit ashamed. I feel dirty. **welcomes colonic** I think its sad that a few very disrespectful people could cyber-spit on a veritable celebrity in this space. I thought we were of a higher caliber. I also think it's very sad that someone couldn't defend his reputation as a professional without snide comments and tautological rhetoric.
It goes without saying that I am a bit more enlightened from this experience. The uppers have connections, and they see what we write here. So whether the VIP you want to bash is registered or not, remember that they may see your comments and be personally hurt by them, as a person, whether they respond or not, as Allie bravely did.
Oh, and can I say how dare Sue? Attacking him on his personal character for defending his professionalism... it truly disgusts me.

Another supporter here.
I've been vocal about my lack in faith toward season 8 many a time, I've accepted it just isn't for me, but I'd never attack a guy working on it with such ridiculous claims as what just went down. Unbelievable really. Many debates here gone into pointless territory (hell I'm in most of them), but not like that one. I mean christ it was based half on untrue allegations and half on someone's personal preference. Absolutely disgusting.
