That's the smell of sweet, sweet victory.

Hey guys I don't post here much but I was directed to what happened in the other thread, which is pretty much infamous now in the online fandom. Infamous? Oh, boy, that's scary. Okay, so, this will be my first post on this lovely forum, and apparently it's going to be a doosey. Statement one: I support Scott as well. All friendly here. And it's good to see a few friendly faces amongst the posters from back in the buffyworld days. I've just finished reading the...well I'll call it an "incident." It's moments like that which forced me out of the forum world all together almost a year ago. Fans at each others throats, and at the throats of the people who are helping keep our fandom alive...it makes a fangirl sad. Let me say something that may possibly offend every Spike and Angel fan that ever existed. I like them both! I think they were both equally good for Buffy in their own ways at different points in their lives. They were also both murderers, with or without soul. And Spike really did try to rape Buffy. My goodness, the world didn't end. I think it's silly to tear each other apart because of all this. What makes me cringe over this is that Scott would take the brunt of such fanaticism. In the past, Joss has taken it. I've read some shockingly negative things about him, particularly during season six, when Angel fans took the streets in anti-Spike riots (artful hyperbole) and again in season seven when Angel stormed in and made out with Spike's woman, only this time from the bleach blond crowd. And it's not limited to our fandom either. Have any of you guys ever poked your head in to see what the Harry Potter fans are talking about most days? If I read how awful JK Rowling is as a person because she didn't get Harry and Hermione together one more time, then I think I'm just going to have to swear off the internet forever. But that's not us! That's not all of us at any rate. At least it shouldn't be. I guess what I'm trying to say is the thing that shocks me most about the "incident" is that it continued on for...what? Three...four pages after Scott's post? And very hostile at that. It gives us all a bad name when we have that kind of negativity and it makes me sad. I'm really kind of sorry Scott had to see that at all. It's not how I would like him to see us fans, anyone with me? I can't help but to admit that I'm very excited about the members coming out of hiding to post about what went down, and I hope Scott takes a look and sees that even non-posters feel bad about what happened. Thank you for your post. I strongly agree with the last statement.

I'm really kind of sorry Scott had to see that at all. It's not how I would like him to see us fans, anyone with me? Yes, that's exactly how I feel. It's our own special episode of "When fans behave badly". I'm very sorry Scott saw it. From the message I got from Scott today I think he's feeling better about the situation. I don't think he'll be browsing the forum actively, but if there are threads that would 1) peak his interest, or 2) require his input, I think he'd be okay with us emailing him the link. So yay. We did good people. I think Scott feels the love. :-) That's great news. Use the thread as a source for good

Does anyone else think maybe this thread is kinda a waste of space? I'm a supporter of Scott Allie, definitly, but is there an overall point?

Does anyone else think maybe this thread is kinda a waste of space? I'm a supporter of Scott Allie, definitly, but is there an overall point? I see the thread as the positive karmic balance to the blackhole of negativity of the other thread. Why is a positive message of support a waste of space?

Maybe Scott doesn't want/need to know he has supporters. The incident happened, if I were him I'd want that to be that and have it be forgotten... Then again, its never going to be forgotten if the argument between the fans about this continues over at DarkHorse, but still...

It's not just about whether Scott Allie needs/wants to know. It's about a positive and mature action countering the vitriol from the other thread which is still on this forum. I think it's a good thing that people are coming together and saying "this is silly behavior, we're better than this, we can treat each other better than this". Isn't that part of the benefits of creating this online community? That we can use our connection for positive action and a positive statement and hold ourselves accountable for a higher standard of behavior.

Well, now, I know this thread is cold, but if you're really interested in supporting Scott Allie, allow him to bend your ear for a moment. The very place that you can now find the Dr Horrible comic script, you can find the first story of a new project I'm writing, called Solomon Kane. Now, I don't pretend that this is a book tailored to every Buffy fan. I do try to bring a little of what I've learned from Joss to everything I do, but Solomon Kane is not much like Buffy. It's darker, more focused on the supernatural stuff, the violence, and less of the emotional range of Buffy. But if it was that horror adventure aspect that drew you to Buffy in the first place, as it did me, at least check out Kane on Myspace, and then if you like it, tell your local retailer to order it for you this month, for September release. Covers by Astonishing X-Men artist, John Cassaday. And if you haven't read Dr Horrible on Myspace yet, at least check that one out.
