i totally agree that this is not a wonderful image for a calender, it is really not what anyone wants to see over there cornflakes. But as disturbing as the image is, I do think that this was a important part of the show and i would hate to see it airbrushed from history.
REMEMBER jOSS IS BOSS!

YES!!!! important, if you genually love the show you cant ignore the story, this was important in charater devlopment and was brilliant part of the drama, that joss wrote as part of the mythology.
I SAY AGAIN, not brilliant over cornflakes though! and if i was compiling a calender not a image i would have chosen

I'd say it was important in the character development but I'm not sure how it fits into the mythology. It's just a painful scene that doesn't fit in with the others picked. Oh well, we'll be through January soon enough.

It's just a painful scene that doesn't fit in with the others picked. If they wanted that pic to fit in, then the Buffy/Riley pic should have been of him getting sucked off by vampires while Buffy watches in Into the Woods. Then of Angelus shoving Buffy into the wall after brutally kissing her. I was going to say the Buffy/Angel scene where he drinks her blood - but, well, that's kinda hot and not as traumatic. Heh.

The theme to me seemed to be Buffy's relationships in season 4, 5 and 6. If they were just going for random shots of Buffy with the three men, Angelus couldn't have been included. Buffy never had a romantic relationship with him.
I think it would have been hard to show anything much different for B/S in season six, it really wasn't healthy. Using a shot from a different season for B/S, say season 5 or 4 isn't possible since there was no romantic relationship between them at the time. So they kinda had to use season 6 as it was the only season there was a physical relationship happening between the two.
That's was my take on the choices.

Cheryl, I really disagree with you here. The choice of the Spuffy picture was done in incredibly bad taste. If they were looking for a Spuffy pic just from Season 6, the more iconic choices would be from OWMF or Tabula Rasa as they're kissing at the end.
I'm not arguing that Spuffy didn't go to an unhealthy level during S6. I enjoyed their relationship more during Season 7. But this pic, it's just really inexcusable. I'm a fan of *all* the 'ships in the 'verse and it really offends me. I'm a B/A and Spuffy fan. It was done in bad taste. What's more, it offends the many Spuffy fans out there who bought this calender only to open it and discover their favorite 'ship is being dragged through the mud.
It's a really horrible way to treat the fans and no, I don't think that screencap needed to be commemorated in a calendar.

I disagree with you too, Cheryl. While Buffy and Spike weren't officially in a relationship in S5 or S7 (was it ever official, even in S6?), there were great moments of tenderness between the two in the other seasons. Examples: Buffy sponging down Spike's bruised face, Buffy cutting Spike down after defeating the ubervamp, Buffy and Spike just lying next to each other in "Touched", Spike giving his "You treat me like a man" speech before the big battle with Glory, Spike leaning on the crucifix (if we need pain).
The point is, all three relationships have had their fair share of good and bad moments. None of those pictures used were synoptic of any of Buffy's relationships at all.

Part of me thinks it could of been a mistake. The month that features Spike has a picture of him comforting Buffy in Fool For Love (putting his hand on her shoulder). Maybe the people who put the calendar together have never seen show and thought the picture ment something else. Kind of stretch, cause you can cleary see Buffy crying, but maybe they weren't looking hard enough.

Hey, it's o.k., I didn't feel like you were ganging up on me. I was just giving my honest initial reaction to seeing the calendar. I immediately thought that they were showing season 4, 5 and 6 and what was happening around that time.
Emmie...none of the pair shots had the couples kissing. If they were going for smoochies, it would have been something like IWRY, anything with Riley and Buffy kissing and one of the ones you mentioned.
I'm honestly surprised by the negative reaction this has gotten. I thought the B/S fans loved season 6, warts and all. I guess I kinda figured it would be viewed as the turning point for Spike. I'm not a big fan of the pic or the scene in general but then I have never made a secret about that. I guess it doesn't bother me in the same way because I was never a fan of Spuffy. So for me, it fits in very well with how I remember Spuffy in season 6. But again, never a fan of Spuffy, so I guess maybe I shouldn't be in this discussion and should just bow out now.
Maybe next year they will include season 7 and something nicer will be included.

What a shame ! All three relationships were very important to Buffy, all had their highs and lows and I think all three should be celebrated equally. I agree with those who say that that is not a suitable image to put on a calendar at all.

So every time a Buffy fan looks up at their calender for the month of January, they have to see a picture of an attempted rape. Happy New Year!
Very odd choice, I must say.

That's the worst moment of Spuffy. So to be fair, the worst moment of Bangel an Biley should be up there too; Angelus taunting Buffy in Innocence and Buffy finding Riley getting his blood sucked. None of those are nice pictures and not many Bangel or Biley fans would want to see those pics in their calendar. Not because they don't like the relationships, turningpoints or not, but it's not nice to look at.

They should have Angelus snapping Jenny's neck too.
I'm not even a Spuffier or anything, it's just a weird choice for a calender. They shoulda gone with the last moments of ONCE MORE WITH FEELING.
