Jackie Earle Haley is apparently being courted to play Freddie. I think he is the best choice. I loved him in Little Children and I can't wait to see his work in Watchmen. www.imdb.com/name/nm0355097/

For me, I guess it would depend on how the reimagine it. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous, but it makes sense to me.
As it is, the "reimagining" doesn't seem to have a lot of gusto behind it. The production company, Platinum Dunes specializes in horror films, but they have mostly been horror film remakes (The Hitcher, Amityville Horror, Texas Chainsaw 1 & 2, and most recently Friday 13th) which seem to have flopped at the box office. The named director Samuel Bayer's previous works include mostly music videos.
Sounds awesome already.
So I guess it doesn't matter much who they cast as Freddy, it won't be done well and I probably won't see it.

While I agree the movie probably won't be good, simply because of no Robert Englund, Platinum Dunes has done a very good job so far of ensuring their movies aren't box office bombs.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake made over $100 million, which was over 10 times the budget for the film (~$9 million).
The sequel to the TCM remake made over 3 times its estimated budget.
And Friday the 13th remake has made almost 4 times its budget.
Good thing about horror movies is that they are generally cheap to make, ensuring that most of the more popular releases every year generally make the movie studios a lot of money.
Depending on the marketing, the ANOES remake will probably do similar business as the F13th remake, so it will be a monetary success opening weekend, most likely.

I wasn't arguing that they didn't make money, rather they weren't terribly good

i have this thing, if someone plays a character for a long time, they should keep playing them if they don't they shouldn't make anymore. Robert englund is that person. it like changing a main character in Buffy or changing the jack sparrow to a different actor. it wouldn't be the same i don't think.

I actually think they did a great job on re-inventing Friday 13th tbh. It was a good go at it. I'm not sure about this movie however because it was a funny horror, they may not keep much of the humor that the films had just have to wait and see.

it was announced by Michael Bay at least 2 years ago that he was interested in rebooting the NoE series.
