Are there any films you're fond of that never get their props? Are you a fan of one of those movies that just laps up fanboy hate? I know I am; probably for a bunch of them actually. Whatcha got?

In regards to a new movie, it appears that I am the only one in the world that liked "The Spirit". I didn't fall in love with it or anything (I won't be buying the DVD), but I thought it was fun and entertaining.

The first one that pops in my head is Drop Deap Gorgeous. It wasn't received well by critics and was a total flop, but it's easily in my top 10 movie list and holds the title for my all time favorite comedy. The cast is stellar, the plot is classic and the writing is genius. I could watch this movie once a week and still piss myself laughing.

"The Postman". It got completely thrashed by the critics, but it had a good story, a really good cast (Costner, Will Patton, Olivia Williams, Larenz Tate), and just gorgeous scenery. It had its hokey/cheesy elements, sure, but how many films don't have at least a little of that?
"The Fifth Element" is a fun, eclectic "Firefly-meets-Star Wars" mix that's a very enjoyable 'popcorn' movie. And for just an all-out 'dumb' comedy that still makes me laugh every single time, I love "Captain Ron" (and love that it got mentioned in S8 ;D )...

I have to agree with you on "Fifth Element", ElDiabloRobotico, that movie is such an experience. The "future" they created was quirky and yet still real. Plus I'm so in love with Bruce Willis AND Milla Jovovich...I'd do it with both of them..sorry if that was vulgar.. Another movie that I love that most people diss is "Zoolander". Ben Stiller is great in it, but the reason I watch it is Owen Wilson and of course, more Milla Jovovich. hahaha, The first time I saw this movie, I hated it. Then I saw it again somehow, and I liked it, and the more I watch it, the more I love it. I pick up on little jokes that go under the radar the first couple viewings. And then there's just the blatant one liners that are so priceless. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the walk-off judged by David Bowie, and the Orange-Mocha-Frappuccino scene set to "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", AND the cameos by Andy Dick as the creepy Swedish massage lady in Mugatu's day spa/sleeper cell training center, Jon Voight and Vince Vaughn as Derek's father and brother, and David Duchovny as the ex-hand model. If I think of any more, I'll post them, but for now here's a few Zoolander quotes "I have negotiated my butt off, Giorgio." "Sting would be another person who 's a hero. The music that he's created...I don 't really listen to it...But the fact that he's making it, I respect that..." "Hey there, Derek. My name is Lil' Kleatus. I'm just a kid who wants you to know the truth about child labor laws. They're silly and outdated. In the good old days kids as young as five could work as they pleased, from textile factories to iron smelts. Yippee! Hooray! But today, the age-old right of children to work is under attack. From the Philippines to Bangladesh, in China and India, and South America too. But you can help these children, Derek, by killing the prime minister of Malaysia!!" "I can "dere-lick" my own balls, thank you very much. You think you're too cool for school. But I got a news flash for you, Walter Cronkite..You aren't." "Derek and Matilda are hiding 'cause some dudes brainwashed Derek to off the prime minister of Micronesia. - Malaysia. - Right. So, they're gonna be hiding here. Let's show them a good time." "When suddenly I remember, "Holy shit. Hansel...haven't you been smoking peyote for six straight days? And couldn't some of this, maybe, be in your mind??' -And? -It was. I was totally fine." "For Christ's sake, it's a casserole, Sheila! It'll stay!"

I've never heard anyone bash Zoolander. It's a favourite amongst my friends lol. I love Ben Stiller playing odd characters, like in Dodgeball or Tropic Thunder as well I rather like Terminator 3, which gets an absolute shitstorm from fans. James Cameron liked it lol, that's good enough for me. I also liked Spiderman 3 which doesn't go down nicely with people very often either. Oh and Star Wars Prequels ftw.

Southland Tales. Does that count? It was an amazing film, it upsets me a great deal knowing that Southland Tales wasn't given a chance. It only grossed around $350.000.00, perhaps if the film was promoted more, it would have received the credit it deserved.

I've never heard anyone bash Zoolander. It's a favourite amongst my friends lol. It must be a regional thing haha. Where I live no one really appreciates the genius that is Zoolander Southland Tales. Does that count? It was an amazing film, it upsets me a great deal knowing that Southland Tales wasn't given a chance. It only grossed around $350.000.00, perhaps if the film was promoted more, it would have received the credit it deserved. TRUE THAT

southland tales: hahaha. although thats going against the whole idea of this thread but still...I really hate that movie.lol. I know it was accepted by critics but most of people I know hate the film monsters ball. Personally I LOVVEE it, amazing film with amazing performances. My favourite 'bad movie' of all time however would be ridley scotts 'Legend'. that film rules. End Of. A young tom cruise when he still had bad teeth being molested by elves and fairies...immense.

I don't know a single person who disliked that film. It was also critically acclaimed. I was quite fond of Marie Antoinette and Running With Scissors, neither of which were particularly well received by critics or at the box office. I'm always trying to sell people on Marie Antoinette, but many people have an issue with it being so highly stylised. I find that people who haven't read Running With Scissors like the film far more than those who have. Some of the acting in RWS was Oscar worthy and it had very strong direction, I was surprised when it had such a weak response from the critics.

Was so, well...insane...and marie.A. was just really good. Not sofia coppolas best but definately watchable. I will always love Lost in Translation too much for any other films of her to top it. heh heh.

Movies I like that no one else did... The Happening, I guess, is a good one. Though a lot of people I know and some critics DID like it, most didn't.
