Paul, you made my year... I love these characters so much I have to pick it up in the next few days. No problem, glad you think it sounds cool. Only four of six issues have been released so far, but there'll be a TPB eventually. Cool, I will pick up whatever they have in... (I liked about half of Rob Zombie's Halloween and can't wait to see H2. I also really liked the Friday the 13th remake.)

A link to an EXTREMLY SPOLIERRIFIC review of the film and a new movie poster. The reviewer basically gives a play-by-play of the whole movie, so if you care about being spoiled, dont' read this. www.aintitcool.com/node/44063

I did however read this earlier today which explain why the movie might actually be good: io9.com/5478706/new-nightmare-on-elm-st-might-actually-live-up-to-the-originalI don't really agree because, as I said, the movie looks like crap, but it was somewhat interesting. It has some spoilers, but not as many as jelly's link.

I really hope this doesn't go like the remake of Halloween. What an utter piece of crap.

Well, I sadly haven't seen any of these films, so I'm going to be seeing the remake with a clean slate.
I will, for sure, check out the older films, once I see the new one, as I don't want to compare it to those right away.
Anyone else happy that Thomas Dekker is in this? ;D
And the trailers look amazinggg.

How in the world do you go your whole life in this day and age without seeing A Nightmare on Elm Street? Anyone else happy that Thomas Dekker is in this? ;D To be honest, him and JEH are the only reasons why I'm even mildly interested in the movie.

The first, third and the seventh Nightmares are all fantastic.

I watched the original nightmare on elm street last night after reading this thread yesterday, as realised it has been ages since I saw it. It was great, and it is so funny seeing johnny depp being 'introduced' to the world of movies I won't be seeing the remake of nightmare on elm street, at least not at the cinema. I may watch it if it is ever shown on the television though just out of curiosity. I absolutely love the old classic horrors, the Halloween series being my absolute favourite, closely followed by nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, candyman, hellraiser, etc etc. It makes me really sad that these classic films keep being remade, they should be left untouched as are perfect just as they are. I saw half of rob zombie's halloween, and not wanting to upset anyone here, but it was absolutely terrible, and one of the worst films I have ever seen, especially as a remake of one of the most influential horror movies of all time. It put me off watching any more remakes as I would just get sad and angry Although I did quite enjoy the remake of texas chainsaw massacre. I thought it was carried out really well, and although nowhere near as chilling as the original, they stuck to it's roots and did a really good job.

Now i'm a huge fan of the original Elm Street series including Freddy vs. Jason, i'm sure this will be a worthy addition to the series of having it rebooted with a new actor in place of Englund whom i think is talented.
But not all horror movie remakes suck, have you all even seen the following?
The Thing. The Fly. The Blob. Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978. Little Shop of Horrors. Night of the Living Dead 1990. Dawn of the Dead. Cat People. Toolbox Murders. 2001 Maniacs. The Hills Have Eyes. Last House on The Left. The Ring. King Kong 2005. Cape Fear. The Crazies. Willard. Wizard of Gore.
All excellent remakes of horror movies done right especially John Carpenter's The Thing and David Cronenberg's The Fly.

I'm not sure how you can really describe King Kong as horror, but the 2005 remake was directed by an Academy Award winning director. The upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, on the other hand, is being directed by someone who has no experience outside of music videos.
I'm just saying.

Ok, so I admit that I do like Little Shop of Horrors with Rick Moranis, and I guess the remake of The Ring wasn't completely awful, although had a far way to go to be as good as the original. I also forgot that I love the remake House on Haunted Hill, Geoffrey Rush was supreme as Vincent Price's character I also have a guilty secret....I actually enjoyed the remake of House of Wax with Paris Hilton *blushes scarlet in shame* although not as much as the original (trying to cling to some element of pride )

Have you all seen The Thing (1982) and The Fly (1986)? 2 awesome remakes of hokey old 50's movies done better and by artists like David Cronenberg and John Carpenter.

I have never seen The Thing, but will do one day. I have seen The Fly though, and thought it was a good film, but it doesn't stand out for me that much. I haven't seen the original either though, so maybe I should watch that before deciding anything
