ANGEL: AFTERMATH #21Covers: (Click for larger) ANGEL #21
Written by Kelley Armstrong, art by Dave Ross, covers by Gabriel Rodriguez and Nick Runge.
The aftermath of the city's return from hell continues to plague Angel, leading to a confrontation with the Powers-That-Be and some winged visitors from beyond the pale, even as Connor and Gwen face off with Dez.
32 pages, $3.99.So... check out what Chris Ryall posted on his BLOG recently. A sneak peak at Gabe Rodriguez's cover for Angel: Aftermath #21! Click for larger images: Obviously this is really exciting. Not only is Rodriguez providing another awesome cover, but Connor and Gwen are now confirmed to be in Aftermath. I can't wait to see their relationship explored more (more Gwonnor, yay!). I wonder what kind of significance the dagger has to the story?

Told you guys the next few Rodriguez covers are awesome. Wait til you get a load of his Warrior Angel. Love his depiction of Connor and Gwen. He makes Angel's chin a bit too rounded in my opinion, but he really nails these likenesses. His attention to detail in his art is so incredible. Everyone should see Locke and Key.

That spread of the theater production in Locke & Key: Head Games #1 was some of the best interior art I have ever seen. Guy is awesome. I'd love to see some interior art for Aftermath soon. I am really excited about the artist.

Oh hell yeah. It looks like his style would really fit with Angel. I'd like to see Mooney, Messina, and Urru take on interior art again soon, but I'm so excited to see how the inside of "Aftermath" is gonna look. In less than a month from now, we'll have the first issue! Can't believe it.

Neat. I hope we get to see the alternate covers appearing soon.
And I definitely love that Connor is on a cover (and Gwen, too). I've been Connor's cheerleader before his sudden recent popularity streak (yes, I adore him even at his psycho worst), so it's cool to see him get this newfound character love.
Rodríguez is doing the inside art, then? Interesting. He definitely has his own style (they all do, really). I love the dagger-in-the-mirror effect.
I definitely hope to see more of Mooney someday. And more Garner and Runge covers.

That's fantastic. Gwen finally looks like Gwen! And a great likeness of Connor. I love the concept for the art too and yikes, the knife certainly spells trouble.

Amazing cover! Very, very beyond happy that Gwen will be in Aftermath and that there will be more of her and Connor. I don't think Connor should be too angry with her. Yes, she betrayed him, but she also sacrificed her life to save him. She also shouldn't be electrical now with the time shift, hopefully that is explored more.

Nick Runge's covers for issues #18-21 have finally been released! Here is his cover for issue #21 (click for larger): There is a lot to love about this cover. Kate's likeness is stunning and Gwen's pose is really awesome. Cordelia (!!!!) doesn't quite look like Cordy, but you can tell it is her. The blue effect looks great as well. I have added this cover to the first post too.

Ahh! Cordy on a cover! She's back! I knew Kate would make an appearance. Gwen's already on two covers for this arc, I'm thinking she's taking an even more prominent role in Aftermath than she did in ATF

I'm underwhelmed by Cordelia being on this cover. Cordy was used in a clever way during After the Fall as Angel was dying so it made sense that she'd be there to help him cross over. But if the "warrior angel" is Cordy, I think this will be the first big divergence from the series. That death counts unless you're resurrected. I just hope her involvement is in a very limited way. Its starting to remind me of how the Charmed sisters grandmother would visit them from the grave. Yeah, I said it. It's reminding me of Charmed.

We just have to see what happens when the issue comes out. If she is in it, you never know, it might be another great appearance like in #12 and #13.

But the guest appearance in After the Fall feels like it opened the door to the floodgates of 'bring back Cordy!' She came back because Angel was dying. I get the impression that the reason for her appearing again is going to be much less dire. And each guest appearance is going to need less of a crucial reason until she's just back for good.
That's my cynical side coming out. I've always loved Cordelia, but I *love* her exit in You're Welcome and Cordy said she was on a different path than Angel there. Apparently that path is not so different if she keeps coming back.
Also recall that the resurrections that occurred in the Buffyverse were all central to the main story - Buffy and Darla being the best examples. Angel was brought back for his own show, so very crucial there. And Spike was brought back to serve as a foil for Angel during Season 5.
Cordy reappearing from the great beyond is still giving me unpleasant reminders of Charmed.

I love the covers but I agree with Emmie. Cordy has served her purpose Joss has stated this numerous times during Angel season 5. I suppose we'll all have to wait and see though, KA might have a good reason for her to be back.

While I agree that using Cordy again probably wouldn't be the wisest move (unless, like I said, she is used in a way that is actually worth it, like in AtF), but all we have right now is her picture on a cover. That doesn't even mean she will be in the issue. If she is in the issue, then it could even be something small like a flashback (like in Connor's First Night story), maybe even a flashback to Angel's discussion with her in issues #12-13 (maybe she said something that will have some importance later on). We just don't know yet. I think it is fine to be wary of Cordelia making another appearance, I think we just have to wait before we assume the worst.

I'm definitely not assuming the worst. I'm just worried about her inclusion, but I know we don't have enough information to truly judge it. Yet.

I take it that the Cordy cover was removed? Gwen and Connor look amazing, btw! Not taken down. All the Nick Runge covers, except for #20, arn't working for some people. Sucks big time.

buffycomics.hellmouthcentral.com/I went searching, and you can see the four covers by Nick Runge here. They are only viewable small, because whe you try to view it large, it does the same thing as our picture. EDIT : Issue 20's cover does work in large view. Also, now that I see the cover for 21, wouldn't Illyria have been on it? It seems to be all of the girls in the show... I'm starting to think Illyria might leave, along with Spike, because neither ofthem have been on a cover yet.
