If it's going to be that central to the story, I hope it will be included in one of the trade paperbacks. I wouldn't want to have all the trades but have an incomplete story in them.

I am sure, if it doesn't make it into the trades, that it will definitely be included in the Deluxe Editions, along with TOTV.

I think the character changes for Willow will have something to do with the fact that she kind of blames herself for Tara's death because she brought Buffy back. I think that is why we have seen distance between her and Buffy and Xander. They are friends, but I think others things are becoming more important for Willow.

I think this story will show us that Willow is far more in love with Power than her usually sweet persona would lead us to believe.
I think the nature of her relationship with Saga Vasuki will show that, and Kennedy is involved in it in some way that's not healthy. (My guess: Willow has used Kennedy, without her full knowledge, for purposes that Ken would not be pleased with if she knew the whole story. K's mystical death may have been part of that.)
And this backstory will help us understand why Willow makes the choices she's going to make in the rest of season 8.

Hello all I dont know if this belongs here but I have a theory of the whole saga vasuki/ willow thing. I was reading the buffy omnibus series volume 5. In it the mayor goes over what happened the night he died. I just rembered it was for his ascension , then it reminded me of a conversation Willow had with a certain gothic vampire witch who was "following Willows accension for years." Then I rembered what the mayors demon body was suppose to look like a GIANT SNAKE. My theory seems to be that Saga vasuki is a demon who wants willow to embody her and become her avatar. She wanted buffy to kill her so that she could ascend and become saga vasuki . Speaking of future willow , this theory would also explain why she doesnt age , just like mayor wilkes who hasent aged a 100 years until his ascension. Shes a magick user much like mayor wilkes. I dont know if anyone else can follow that random tangent but I have all but convinced myself that this is the case. And also the reason why she can only reach Saga vasuki in sexual climax is that when do we really become our true selves, letting go of all human inhabitions except when in the thorws of climax ( I mean when but not totally free from all care would you make the disturbing looking "O" face. Also kennedeys mystical death, what would an ascension be without a sacrifice. YAY Ascended Willow

Also, remember in #4 when Willow survived a lobotomy completely unharmed? That always seemed fishy to me... even Wolverine would've needed a few minutes to recover from that! I think that scene will have huge significance later on. And remember, the Mayor healed instantly too...

This sounds like its going to be one heck of a comic. I'm really glad to see Karl Moline involved with the art, he actually drew Willow with long hair like she had in seaon 7 and i think that long hair played a big role in her reinvention after tara died so i hope he gives her the long hair in this one. Joss in involved too which means this is going to be one of the most truest Buffy comics out there. Saga Vasuki seems awfully shady of a character, she's a demon remember. Whatever happend with kennedy's death obviously wasn't so horrible cuz kennedy stayed with Willow, unless Willow used the tabula rasa spell or something to make her forget it all. Yeah i would say Willow is lacking stability in her life, the magic is going to through her off balance after she tried so hard to control it after realizing she couldn't just stop all together. This is going to be a story about Willow's journey into the depths of darkness and her struggle to keep her humanity. BTW Could Willow already be immortal since she became a goddess in the series finale?

BTW Could Willow already be immortal since she became a goddess in the series finale? I don't think that Kennedy's exclamation of "You're a goddess!" necessarily meant that Willow had become one. It could also mean that Willow was amazing for pulling off that "nifty" spell.

It could also mean that Willow was amazing for pulling off that "nifty" spell. I've seen this debated before. Some people think Willow literally ascended to goddess status in "Chosen", others think it was just a compliment on Kennedy's part. I'm going with option B, although Willow's probably as powerful as a goddess (hell, she kicked poor Osirus' ass!)

How would Kennedy know Willow became a goddess lol... I really want Willow to go out this season as one tho, I think she needs to be, She will 'die' without her powers, and I see this as the next big step for her next season.

I think the goddess saying was just a wow your amazing saying

But then why did Willow go "oh my goddes" before the spell worked? I mean they mentioned the word twice, dont you think they were trying to get at something there? Maybe since she was now a slayer she could sense Willow's power, can slayer's tell that sort of thing? I'd really like to get a better glimpse of that cover, and to also see what Jo has planned.

The Slayer spell required a total loss of control, much akin to going dark. That's why Willow was so antsy about performing it in the first place. But as evidenced by the white glowing aura and all that positive imagery, it was a loss of control in the opposite direction of where she went in S6. And it reaffirmed that magic isn't necessarily always bad, especially when used correctly. "Oh my goddess!" would be an appropriate response to how good it felt to be connected to magic, the earth, femininity, etc.

Yea and she says oh my Goddess alot especially in the comics (the older ones before season eight anyway) But wh knows joss likes to throw us for a loop. My onlything wth that is the fact joss has never really put much religon in his comics and I dont think it would fit in to the scheme of things if Willow becomes the full on Goddess creator of the world. Maybe a higher being but I dont think all goddess ( althoug Amy does call her an all powerful earth mother goddess soo maybe it might work lol i'm all confused.

Willow going "O" face to channel Saga Vasuki I believe is similar to going dark or going white, each involves a loss of control. What I love about the "O" face is it's near impossible to tell if it's dark or white... what side is Saga really on?

"O" Face!! That's priceless. I wasn't really paying that close attention.
Anyway...I wasn't too thrilled about this when it was first announced cause it meant the main story would be put on hold again, but I'm getting more excited as I learn more about what the one-shot is about.
Willow's story before the start of Season 8 is very mysterious and I'm hoping this short story will help fill in some of the pieces. Not just about what Willow was up to with Saga, but why she got involved with Saga. Willow's motivation is one thing that has been sorely lacking in the comics, and that coupled with the other developments (i.e. Flying like supergirl, healing fast, living for 200 years without aging) has left me feeling more and more disconnected from her character.
