Willow survives 200+ years... I think there is plenty of significance. I have a theory about that "vag monster" Spike is currently chasing (Joss is so subtle) and its possible relevance to Willow and Aluwyn and what happens to Will in the final issue. I'll have to read the actual comic before I know if it holds water, though.

does this mean dawn will turn back into the key guys ? as magic is gone : s Apparently, any creature that has magic intrinsic to itself will be able to keep it... the Slayers (at least, the handful who survived) will keep their powers, and the vampires and demons native to this world will keep the magic that is necessary for them to exist. People will simply not be able to access any magic outside of themselves anymore... so it's back to bake sales and chanting circles for the Wiccans. (Although they made the point in season 7 that magic was "part of" Willow now, and that she couldn't be separated from it... I wonder if that will have any significance?) As for Dawn, she would keep her nature as the Key... which would mean, if she can find a way to access that power within herself, she'd be the only person in this world capable of opening portals to other dimensions.

I trust this puts a permanent end to Bangel.
I never hated this 'ship before. Was always pretty neutral on it. But now... if I ever see Buffy in his arms again, I will lose all respect for her as a character.
I've also lost any ability to see Angel as a protagonist or any sort of heroic character. He is a hapless schmuck. Full stop.
So, no more Slayer army, as at least 95% of them are dead. I'm going to be a while in trying to process what kind of message that sends re: feminist empowerment. I think I feel comfortable in saying that empowering them was a catastrophically bad decision on Buffy's part, though she would have no way of knowing that.

In the "Anywhere But Here" scene, though, Buffy asks Robin "What happens to me here?"
So the betrayal happens to her, not by her.
I don't really know how Angel's betrayal could be considered "the most unexpected" here, but it ain't my story to tell.
Can someone explain any reason why Giles would take the Scythe himself and try to kill Angel? Faith is the one who actually knows how to use it, and whose job description includes killing evil demigods. I understand he may be seeking redemption for his failures this season, but Buffy's life is at stake... wouldn't he want her salvation in the hands of someone who might stand an actual outside chance of getting the job done?
Also, why were Amy and Warren and the General in this story at all?

Maybe this will have more emotional impact for me when I see the actual pages. I guess for me, I'd already been mentally prepared for Giles's death for so long, any mourning is already factored in. He's only been a part-timer in Buffy's life since early season 6.
It's almost like Joss said to himself, "Well, I've gotta kill somebody, because it's what I do... might as well go with the one whose disappearance would be least disruptive to the future story, but who everybody would still cry over. You're up, Giles."
I have to say, this is the most predictable non-villain death I've ever seen him write.

Maybe the issue was a counterfeit.
I kind of hope so, since the story as summarized leaves me pretty unimpressed.

In order for the spoiler tags to work, you have to put all of the text you want to hide between them.
First the main spoiler tag, then the text you want to hide, and then the closing spoiler tag.

Non-English conversations (and personal spoiler requests) might better be handled by the private message system...

Kind of disappointingly predictable, if true, actually.

It was legible enough, unfortunately. Oh well. I knew some Canadian or other would get me today.

I'm sure the Internet has been great for fandom... before it, pretty much all we had was letter columns and conventions, and maybe "fanzines" for the biggest fandoms.
But the spoiler aspect is a definite drawback.

It's kind of a shame that the actual comic has become almost an afterthought.
Sometimes I miss the pre-Internet days.

I know perfectly well there's no way I'll be able to resist the spoilers. I wanted to read this spoiler-free tomorrow, but I just don't have the willpower.

Nobody in the U.S. is getting them today... Diamond's policy is that every store gets them on the same day.
However, I heard that Canada might be getting them today.
If so, I hope any Canadians on here will keep their responses spoiler-tagged until tomorrow...

Since we are a Buffy forum, it will be getting it's own section in the new forum. And discussions are encouraged! But it will be separate from the Joss show. Since it is a separate entity, like Season 8 is. If there's still a "Whedonverse" section in the new forum, hopefully this movie won't be under it, since it's not part of the Whedonverse.

I didn't say anything about "taking revenge" necessarily... just that he might take some rash action in hopes of making all the deadly craziness stop, and stop his friends and girlfriends from dying.
He lost one girlfriend to a Bringer, one to a vampire, and now seen Dawn injured by a demon. He may decide it's time to make all that go away, even at the expense of "good" magic as well.

It won't be irrelevant. Willow having the power of the Seed is not the same thing as the Seed itself still existing. Willow having the power though would explain how she could survive 200 years as well as why FDW seemed to have so little magic left. I predict that magic will end not when the Seed is destroyed, but when Willow is forced out of this world... only to have it return when she does, a couple hundred years from now.

It's okay, but doesn't look like it's going to capture the horribleness of this season's outcome very accurately.
And I know we always comment on the mysterious absence of characters from covers, but... where's Willow? Is she the glow in the foreground?
