(Where have you been dude! I hope you're right Pat!! As for the cover...the first one is a great closure echoing #1 (makes me wish I had gotten that cover...) The second one... I don't know. Where Joss is concerned I'm always on pins and needles regarding Spike. It would make all things simple, tied up and easy if he were not here. Hey hey! Working on my writing and making steps on the quest to get published. Maybe check in bookstores in a year and a half for a surprise. Annnnd maybe comic shops sooner than that, but I don't want to speak too soon. But yeah, Spike is definitely going to make it out. It's the other Brit that I'd be worried about...

Pat, we usually get on well so I'm really not trying to get into a fight here, but just because you treat everyone at IDW like they're the second coming of Jesus doesn't mean I have to. Right, like... Armstrong, Willingham, whatever the Aftermath's artists name was... Right. But... wait, not at all. I gave all those books bad reviews. Don't assume I don't judge on quality. It's not treating someone "like the second coming of Jesus," because if that was the case I'd simply be skeptical of them and kinda creeped out. I respect and enjoy the writing of the ones that write well, and the art of the ones that draw well. To suggest it's anything else is silly and jump-to-conclusion...sy. We get on fine, for sure, but it's kind of presumptious and annoying for you to assume that about me. You sure can. Just thought it seemed kind of above you to refer to something as, "some crappy non-canon comic." Seems kind of elitist, which is something I didn't really peg you as. Why is left in quoty fingers? He's Elvised. Hyperbole much? Saying "please" to someone who has been intergral to her emotional evolution makes her a lapdog? I don't think the issue was perfect either (the Star Trek bit made question marks appear above my head. It's not a Trek reference, it's a common saying)... but that's super hyperbolic. AtF, yeah. I thought "Only Human" was pretty bad. Lobdell's work wasn't at all Jesusy. Disagree. Does the characterization? Or tone? Or consistency? I've liked recent issues... a lot. 37 is the best Buffyverse comic we've had since... maybe since ANGEL #23. But as a whole, Season Eight is lacking in a major, major way. My justification? "Retreat" happened. And that's just a start. Again, though. #37 was... awesome. So, so awesome. Which I didn't expect it to be, considering who was co-writing. I didn't really get "mediocre" from "crappy," but maybe you were in the heat of the moment? No, it's not at all like that. These comics are being considered in the plotting of Season Eight, according to both Allie and Ryall. The old Dark Horse comics are pushed to the side. Also, the difference in quality is like comparing "Buffy" to "Charmed." The dichotomy between this and the original comment you made is something to behold. Again, as you said, we get on fine. You are a gentleman and maybe even a scholar. But I super don't understand your take on the comics. I guess that shows how folks can take really different things from books. But I think "Aftermath" is not what I'd call good. The comics now, to me, feel that the show. That felt like a different and kind of uneven new series that had nothing to do with Angel.

It's not crappy. It's well written. It's been so since Willingham has been off the book. Holy WOW that was condescending and disrespectful.

Also, I don't really get the whole "SPIKE IS EVERYWHERE!" thing. There were months when he wasn't in either ANGEL or BUFFY. Angel is in as much now as Spike is. He's in his own title, in Buffy, and in Spike's title. Spike is in all of the same, though he's leaving ANGEL once SPIKE starts.

I'm pretty sure that when this cover is released, Dawn will be on the cover and Giles will be gone. They're pushing the "Dawn is dying!" thing way, way too hard for it to happen.

More character moments. More cohesion. Less "this character suddenly knows about this mythology altering thing JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME!" Less inexplicable choices made by characters. Better writing. Better yet, more consistently good writing, because it keeps going back and forth from AWESOME to WHAHUH?
Mostly? For Angel NOT to be under the Buffy: Season Nine banner. It's insulting.

I think you're misinterpreting the joke. It was explained in the preview of the issue and in Brian Lynch's comments on that. If anyone is less lazy than me, they're on Whedonesque! I do know that he explicitly stated that it's not about Spike evolving into Angel.

Hey all. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could watch, comment, and rate. Hope you enjoy!
"The meaning of life is circles.
This is how it goes: Everything begins with the big bang. Life happens. You are born, you die. More life happens. Then, the apocalypse, and the Earth is sucked into the sun, kick starting the Big Bang again which, in turn, begins everything all over again. In the exact same way. Not one small difference. We live our lives over and over again, unaware of the never ending circle.
Except for me. I met a genie (long story) and asked to be granted full awareness, so I could remember everything, every time.
This is the story of how I tried to break the circle.
MONTAGE
Written & directed by Patrick Shand Produced by Steven Wisnowski Starring Patrick Shand, Erica Krilov, Danielle Juliet, Jodi Van Der Horn-Gibson, Ryan Shand, James Shand, & Janice Shand."

Maybe if this was a thread about sharing stories, yeah. But it's specifically designed for writing advice, which will delve into comics, screenplays, video, video editing, book reviews, and... um, funny clips? It has nothing to do with fanfic, so folks who would be interested in the stuff I mentioned would completely miss this. This thread is about the writing process, not the sharing of non-fan fic.

Ah, thanks for spotting that. I do know how to do it, and I usually do. I just forgot this time around because... well, no other forum does that haha.
I'll take a look at your stuff.

Naw, TFAW isn't credible at all. They still call the Angel on-going "Aftermath" and fill in their own release dates without consulting the publisher.
"The Devil You Know" is for sure just four issues. The final issue came out today, and it was fun.
Here's a link to the interview I did with Bill Williams, re: Spike and Eddie Hope.
