I LOVE Firefly! I love all the characters so much. It's funny, you don't like Jayne because I adore him. Jaynestown is one of my fave episodes because it's so funny.

Wouldn't the Buffy Episode Guide be covered in the transcripts we'd be sourcing from BuffyWorld.com?
Yeah, the gallery/fanart/downloads seem to be the same thing pretty much.
Screencaps obviously separate from that in the images department.

Woot! That's awesome. I think, considering my lack of computer savvy, I'll do what I do best. Help organize and spread the word. I've already started reaching out on LJ here and have friends who have been in the fandom for a really long time, so they might have some knowledge of cool older fandom stuff. In some areas, I very much understand what we're going for. Screencaps is self-explanatory. Where as with Fanfiction, are we housing just the fanfiction here at SlayAlive and then branching out. What is the scope of that arena? Because there's A LOT of fanfiction out there. Similarly there's A LOT of Promo pics out there and behind-the-scenes stuff already housed on other sites. What's our focus? Just trying to get an idea of the scope of this venture.

I've spoken with my friend, Stormwreath, and he's offered to let us host his DVD commentaries he's transcribed, also. I'm going to be reaching out to others to see about collecting Meta for the Whedonverse, too. And Phil, I've also gotten in touch with someone who might be able to help with web-building, Ruuger. Though they say it's been a while since they've done it. How much bandwidth will the site have? I'm just wondering how far we can go here and I'm sadly lacking in web design know-how.\ ******* - slayalive.com/forum
- /fanfic (the eFiction Xaphania was talking about) what about links to fic archives still out there, too?
- /fanart (dragonweaver, it sounds like you have some experience here)
- /gallery (e.g. Comics Covers and Art, Promo Pics)
- /transcripts - (episode scripts, shooting scripts, DVD commentary)
- /interviews - Interviews and Q&A's
- /academic papers (slayageonline.com)
- /collectibles
- /blog - e.g. Comics Reviews (Patxshand's already agreed to contribute, Xi, too) Dollhouse Ep Reviews, perhaps
- /customfigures (This would be more Jess's domain, yes?)
- /screencaps
- /collections
- /downloads (like wallpapers, icons, avatars, and banners)
- /video (PJ, this was an area you were enthusiastic about)
It seems right now like we're waiting to get the infrastructure of the site ready, though.

Buffyworld allows the copying of their Transcripts, with credit. And I also have screencaps for all Buffy episodes in HQ already, from a friend This is awesome! Let's do the dang thing, babe. You know I'm all about organizing and making things pretty. I'm just bringing over my old posts from my The Source days: The Buffyverse fandom is so diverse. There are so many different facets - fanfiction, fanart (banners, avatars, videos), academic essays, blogs, episode discussion, interviews, etc. So many different websites, forums, live journal communities and blogs where all the fans congregate.
I just think it would be unbelievably cool if there was a way to tie the Fandom community together. Bringing together the best of the best of everything produced by the fans. The best fanfiction, the best fan videos, best fan art, the best reviews. The best of the past 11 years. In the past year I've gotten to know a lot of the Buffyverse fans better and there's a lot of gold material out there.
I'm not sure if Slayalive is the right format for this (or what format would be right, really) but perhaps we could start a project affiliated with our Slayalive.
I know this is ridiculously ambitious, but I dream big.
What do you guys think? Would anyone be interested in helping me?
ETA: Remember the Buffysearch.com engine that went down back in 2004. I'm thinking in this respect of trying to get the fandom organized on the internet. Not necessarily a search engine, but something that collects the 'Best of the Best' out there.
Live Journal Community and Users
Buffyverse Blogs
Academic Pursuits Slayage Academic Texts published on the Buffyverse
Video
Having Buffyverse videos on the site would be awesome. Like having copies of the lost dailies for the show. Interviews with creators and actors, etc.
Podcasts
Print and Online Media Old Buffy Magazines Buffyverse-related Interviews and Articles
Fanfiction Listing of Fanfiction Archive Websites Listing of all the Fanfiction Awards Sites Listing of LJ Fanfiction Communities
FanArt Collections of FanArt - deviant art stuff, etc.
Buffyverse Creators Links to Buffyverse folks blogs, websites (Jane Espenson, Brian Lynch, Stephen Mooney)
Ok guys, help me think about the areas some more. Feel free to copy this list and tweak it, adding more stuff.
***Basically, if there's an area here where you feel like you're well-versed, call dibs and start to research it. This is going to be a list of sources of "the best" out there.
So if you were compiling the list of all the best and most active Buffy forums, just make a list and have the links for each site. Google is your friend here.
i.e. Two of the best websites for source information about the Buffyverse are Buffy Wiki and Buffy World

I dunno. FOX could be putting less money into advertising because Dollhouse has a loyal fanbase and is spreading through word of mouth and online news. Ads are more for the main stream and they could figure that not going all out with the Ads is what allows them to save the money to keep Dollhouse in their line-up.

There's no minimum word count, only the maximum. I recommended using the word count as best you can though.

Yeah, I think EWR is right. The Buffy layer on the far right seems to be a bit apart from the rest of the composition. Everything else looks great!

Yeah, I know that in the Buffyverse when the going gets tough, the tough get naked. Just seems like kind of a silly organization of priorities, sometimes. Imminent death leads to wanting to desperately clutch at life. SEX. Basic human mechanics here.

Yeah, I'm iffy on the details of Harmony Bites. I didn't think much of it when I read it. Fluff.
I got the feeling though that Harmony's jobs as a bartender and such were showing the beginning phase of the show. And that Harmonic Divergence was after the show had been around for a while, unsuccessful and about to be cancelled, and then Soledad's attack brought it back to life. Though the issue Harmonic Divergence itself spans an unclear timeline in itself. Showing when Soledad becomes a Slayer to when she rejects Andrew and Buffy's offer to when she attacks Harmony and dies. So Harmony Bites could very well happen at some point within the timeline of Harmonic Divergence (like you said).
The best we can say is that the MDHP's happen before the ending of each corresponding issue, but don't occur long before that issue. They sort of orbit the issues #21 Harmonic Divergence and #22 Swell.

I spend most of my time in front of my computer, and have to turn around to look at my tiki on the bookshelf behind me. Yeah, the having to move parts of life really suck. What am I doing? Writing fic, reading comics news, thinking about taking a nap because I stayed up ridiculously late last night, not wanting to do laundry but knowing that I must...

Always Darkest is left unclear as to when it's occuring. Harmony Bites and Vampy Cat Play Friend are more easy to pin down in terms of chronology. Vampy Cat Play Friend happens before #22, I imagine, because the Slayers destroy all the Vampy Cats in that issue. Harmony Bites happens before #21 (again, I'm guessing) because it shows the beginning of Harmony's show before it gets really interesting and becomes a national sensation.

Xander/Dawn witnessed by Buffy. I think it only comes off as shocking to those who haven't been reading the subtle cues (which I believe the Whedonverse likes to call set-up and character progression) and are blatantly ignoring how close Dawn and Xander have become (and are squicked by Dawn having sex with a guy whose she's been crushing on since high school). It just feels right. Because Dawn's gone through all the transformations and is a woman now. All grown up. And full of feeling. And Xander's recovering from another potential love he lost.
Any other coupling would feel cracky, where as this one has been very subtly built up to. That's not the sign of bad writing that those who've been reading the book closely can predict this. That's the sign of good writing. Because character progression counts here.
Was Buffy/Satsu any less shocking for all the signs leading up to it happening? Xander/Dawn will still cause extreme ripples in the fandom.

Thanks, Sage! I look forward to getting your feedback every time I post here. I just added a poll to this thread to rate the fic. I got the idea from a feature they have through V-boards format that Buffy Forums uses. So feel free to rate it even if you're not commenting (but reading the story, of course)!
