This movie is not one that I particularly enjoy, but as you said, zoelee, if it's on, I cannot turn it off. I think the reason I do watch it is because, like S1 of the series, it is a timewarp back to the 90's. It's fun to watch all the goings-on of the valley chicks, the awkward style choices, and most importantly the slang. This movie does have a lot of character, though it isn't really cohesive to the series because of Joss's non-involvement. It's kitchy and quirky and lame, so yeah, I watch it. I must say, I LOVE Rutger Hauer as Lothos, and Paul Reubens as Amilyn. Contrary to previous comments, his death scene cracks me up because it is so absurd and drawn out. Now I want to watch this..I need the DVD. And I take back my original statement--I DO enjoy watching this movie! hahaha

This episode is one of the best examples of Buffy's true heroism. She saves people all the time, yes, but in this episode she is fighting another human. Her problem solving skills, in part due to her slayer intuition, are key. Even while under the harmful curse of Mrs. Madison, Buffy can see through the gauze of the body-switch spell. She is a real problem solver, and that's harder to do that stick a vamp with Mr. Pointy, i.m.o.
Another thing I really love about this episode is the character trait of Buffy wanting to be a cheerleader. This shows us that she was a very different person before becoming a slayer, as we learn later on when she and Cordelia run for May Queen. It shows us what Buffy has given up in order to fulfill her calling, which is a constant struggle for her to compromise.
As always, I thoroughly enjoy the 90's fashion, slang, and music. What a great episode!!
9/10

I really like what Supernatural is doing for the genre that Buffy and Angel helped usher in. I love that they seem to take inspiration from Buffy and Angel, and that they put their own twists on things. Another thing that I love about Supernatural that wasn't really a focus on BtVS and AtS is the fairy tales. Supernatural really goes into the myths of creepy things like that, and Buffy did it once or twice (the two ep's I can think of are "Ginger Bread" with Hansel and Gretel, and "Killed By Death" with the Bogey Man). I am also loving the most recent episodes involving the epic dynamic of angels and demons. I think it is a great show that is borrowing from Buffy and paying homage, but at the same time it's pushing it's own new boundaries. There are times when I get a little fed up when they flat-out copy episodes, but hey, isn't that the highest form of flattery? Also, Jensen Ackles needs to be in my pants.

I'll begin by stating that Buffy isn't my favorite character, nor is she in my top 3 (she is in my top 5 though). That said, I LOVE this character's development through the years, and the deepness that was given to us by the wonderful Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Buffy's Funniest Moment: I first thought of the beginning scenes of "Triangle" in s5. Buffy's friends are talking about how she'll deal with Riley's abrupt exit, and we then find Buffy fighting in a convent courtyard. After slaying the demon, Buffy asks a young nun about convent life.
BUFFY: So, um, a-about being a nun... you know, um, with the whole ... abjuring the company of men ... you know, how's that working for you? The... abjuring.
NUN: (confused) Um ... good.
BUFFY: Yeah, do you, do you have to be like super-religious?
NUN: Well, uh...
BUFFY: How's the food?
Most Tender Moment with the Scoobies: This one MUST go to s4 "Primeval", the hug-fest int he elevator shaft between the original three.
Buffy: Xander! Willow: Oh, wonderful Xander! Buffy (while giving a group hug): You know we love you, right? Willow: We totally do. Xander: Oh God, we're gonna die, aren't we?
Buffy's Saddest Moment: Buffy's desperation in discovering that she has not "come back wrong" from her brief stint in heaven. She is so distraught by Tara's news that Spike's ability to physically (and otherwise) abuse her that she breaks down.
TARA: It's not that simple.
BUFFY: It is! It's wrong. I'm wrong. Tell me that I'm wrong, please... Please don't forgive me, please... (sobbing) Please don't... Please don't forgive me...
Buffy's Most Heroic Moment: This one is tough since, well, Buffy is a hero. She has many heroic moments, many of them hugely dramatic and touching. But the moment that I'm going to choose for this, to appreciate Buffy, is from s1 when she faces her fears and fights the Master despite her prophecied death.
MASTER: You're dead!
BUFFY: I may be dead, but I'm still pretty. Which is more than I can say for you.
MASTER: You were destined to die! It was written!
BUFFY: What can I say? I flunked the written.
(...) MASTER: Did you really think you could best me here when you couldn't below?
BUFFY: You have fruit punch mouth.
Buffy's Most Romantic Moment: Since I simply love the Riley/Buffy relationship, I'm going to quote their first professions of love for each other from s4's "The Yoko Factor".
RILEY: (meaningfully) Because I'm so in love with you I can't think straight.
BUFFY: Tell me about it.
Buffy's Darkest Moment: One could argue that the entirety of s6 is Buffy's darkest moment, however, that was just another facet of Buffy to be explored. I would say her darkest moments consist of her falling deeper into her own complexes, doubting her friends, herself, etc. I immediately thought of "Touched" from s7.
BUFFY: That?s my problem. I say the word, some girl dies. Every time.
SPIKE: There?s always casualties in a war.
BUFFY: Casualties? it just sounds so casual. These are girls. That I got killed. (beat) I cut myself off from them, all of them. I knew I was going to lose some of them and I didn?t? You know what? I?m still making excuses. I?ve always cut myself off, I?ve always? being the Slayer made me different but it?s my fault I stayed that way. People are always trying to connect to me but I just? slip away. (beat) You should know.
Now for my question: What was Buffy's true purpose in the seven years spent living in Sunnydale?

How about a rainbow gradient coloring for the Scythe image? With black text "Are You Ready To Be Strong" really making it pop. I think it would definitely work, and I like the ideas behind you reason for it.

I friggin' love this story!! The 'verse, the characters, the big bads...all of it. I have been a Buffy fan for years and years, and only recently got to see Firefly ad Serenity, and I am so impressed with the story that I am reluctant but happy to say that I think the characters are better than any others Joss & Co. have created. I really REALLY love this story. I hope we get to see more and more and more from the Serenity gang.

Warren was kinda stupid, didn't he die? Isn't the bullet still lodged in his heart from when Dark Willow tortured him with it? Wouldn't one die almost immediately after being flayed alive? This was explained in Long Way Home #4. Warren tells Willow how he's still alive because of Amy's magic, she was watching Willow and in turn watching Warren and was there in the woods when Dark Willow flayed him and in the few seconds before he would have died from shock she created a magic "skin" on him. As for the bullet I'm not too sure on that but i guess Warren's existance now isn't the most logical so that kinda slipped by the way side lol I hope this was kinda helpful Yeah I remember that, but it's one of those miraculous Joss-ex-machina moments that I don't really totally think should be true. My point was that Warren totally shouldn't be alive/brought back..but we trust Joss & Co.'s writing and vision overall, so we let that impossible stuff go to see what happens next.. Thanks though And when I say "we"..I mean "me" hahaha Except that Warren HAD to have died, since the First could use his visage in S7. Joss essentially explained that he had merely forgotten that teeny factoid. Warren did indeed die, though. So the little matter of the bullet, not that big a deal, since Amy had to magically revive the skinless freak. It could be argued that, if Warren only died for a second, like Buffy in "Prophecy Girl," then the First could appear as Warren and he could still be alive in Amy's love-shell-whatever..haha so messed up...hmmmm, how to clear the self-made awkwardness.. I just love that smiley!! "I got here early; I get to be cowboy-guy!!"

I have to say, I want to high-five you, El Diablo Robotico, because I pretty much agree with everything you said about Riley. And this is also, the first thing about S8 that I am enough confused/mad about that I am hoping it plays out right. Warren was kinda stupid, didn't he die? Isn't the bullet still lodged in his heart from when Dark Willow tortured him with it? Wouldn't one die almost immediately after being flayed alive? With all these questions, I let it slide, knowing that Joss & co. would have something different in store for the character, for the plot. I have this trust in the writers because they've proved for 8+ years that their twists and turns are extremely well thought-out. But I really cannot see how this shift for Riley Finn will really work out at all. That theory about Sam being killed by a rogue slayer, while a potent shove towards revenge, would not be enough for Riley to go to Darth Twilight's side. I really really think that Riley's entire history goes against this in every way. He is the good-est of the goodies, and again I agree with El Diablo Robotico in that I think Riley is even more righteous than Xander--and Xander is my FAVORITE character of all time..so I can't stress how much this means haha--because Xander has been tainted by the darkness of being so close to the Slayer. By this I mean that, in Xander's interaction with Buffy and the other scoobies, he's seen ridiculously evil things happening around him. At times, the evil has even corrupted their group of good guys. Lots of times, this darkness came with great power, and maybe this changed Xander in some ways. Meanwhile, Riley has been exposed to darkness, but in a different light. While he was in cahoots with the Initiative, Riley witnessed some seriously messed up stuff, but it was justified as the means to the end of keeping safe the lives of humans/Americans. When the Initiative fell, Riley had established that he now understood that there was more to that darkness, but that he would not be a part of it in that way. Riley moved on to continue fighting demons, whereas Xander nearly married one. (If this isn't making sense I apologize.) Riley and Xander both accepted the darkness, but Xander holds it close to him, and Riley still fights it. This is why I think it is absurd for Riley to be in league with Twilight, and unless Twilight is Giles or someone that Riley would be able to trust in this fight, against the first woman Riley ever loved. Tangent--I just had a thought that contradicts my own feelings towards Riley..he would probably be OK with ending magic, though..idk I just really hope Joss & co. have a really goof plot lined up for him!

10/10 I just finished watching this episode last week actually, and this is a great banner showcasing the budding relationship between Fred and Wesley. I like the text you've chosen, and you've really pinpointed Wes's need to protect Fred. All that in one 500x125px banner!! High Five!!

9/10 I like the little saying, and I love the juxtaposition of "Lady" and such a fierce shot of Rowena, who I like and want to see more of in the comics.
