Whats next: space ships?!? Kinda already done with Gunther in his flying car with lasers. I know, not quite spaceships, but Gunther looks enough like an alien that I thought of it when you said "spaceships". great one!!! I'm just afraid that, if they keep this up, the season 9 is gonna sound like "alien mega super elves with magic laser guns are the big bad"

Finally got my issue #22. I have to say I like it way more that issues 21 and 20.
The chemistry with Kennedy and Satsu is great, the beginning was funny, and Satsu's speech when she was possessed was priceless! The little vamp-cats are so cool, I loved their homophobia and their comments about Slayers! Also loved how they called each other brother, and were all strong and tough in the battle.. so cute!
The part that loved the most was the fact that Swell raised the right questions about Slayer army and what right they have to say who is evil and who is not! I hope that keeps up in the season, and that in the end we get some sort of closure on the " did Buffy did a good thing by making all Potentials into Slayers".
The only part I HATED was the missile!!! Can u say over the top!?! I know they don't have a budget but they don't have to go all crazy!! Whats next: space ships?!?

1. We don't see enough of the core groupe. The scoobies never get reunited, they're all scattered. We get some Xander/Dawn, some Willow/Kennedy, etc... but where's the spirit of the show? Well you have to admit that they have 1500 Slayers all over the world to handle. They have to take some responsibility for them, so its normal that with more obligations they will have a little less time for each other. The writers are just trying to make the story more epic. In the last issue, 90% of the story is centered around Satsu and Kennedy. Who cares about them? I personally like that the story is not so Buffy centered. There is evil beyond Sunnydale ( now Scotland) and there are people fighting evil and for me its interesting to see their stories. The Twilight storyline is starting to drag along and past the excitement of wondering who he (or she?) is, there's not much to look forward to. The whole thing is just kind of confusing. So what. Waiting for things to happened is the half of the fun! I would have hated it if they showed us who Twilight is in TBS.. The suspension keeps me on my toes! Some characters, like old villains have been brought back and it was completely pointless I agree, but ATF also brought Nina back... and for what??? OK she was not dead but what was the point of having her in ATF??? She did nothing!!! People just have to stop seeing S8 as literal continuation of the show! Yes its the same characters and writers, but its a different format, and the stores are told differently. You can't expect same amount of character interaction in 20-ish comic pages as you got in 45 min of the show. Also they were clear about S8 being more epic, so you have to expect that it will have a wold-wide story. I am LOVING S8 much more than ATF, especially after the last issue. Don't get me wrong, I liked ATF but it was kinda ANGEL, ANGEL, ANGEL and who cares about other people, because we have ANGEL!!! S8 reminds me of X-Men and Fables ( my favorite comics.. two of..) I was hoping that the story would get faster, and with P&P it is so I'm happy ;D

Wow this is just ... wow. Can I just say barf!!! If that is Kenny no wonder Dawn slept with his roommate! The cover does look great but its still very upsetting! I hope it has the Beauty and the Beast story in it and Kenny turns into a prince ...

Wow I can't believe that we got a preview so soon. The monologue is so corny but its Andrew, what do you expect. I liked I-have-important-talk-with-the-boss run, its so funny. Also I love the new look of the base. It looks so WWII Resistance, totally underground! Can't wait for every single issue of this arc!

Well this issue is on again.. No wonder. In my opinion this is one, if not the theme, of season 8: did Buffy do the right thing in Chosen when she had Willow turn all of the Potentials into Slayers? Well this is the way I see it:
Long long time ago demons ruled this earth. Then came men. Demons found ways to stay... and so the vampires were created. Now with vampires around humans are no longer at the top of the food chain - and we do not like that! So Shadowmen decided to fight back. Now they could have infused them-selves with the power of a demon but they did not. Was it because they knew that a Slayer would have a short live time, or because they were not certain it would work at all - we don't know. All we know is that they used a spirit of a demon, some powerful magic and a girl to create a Slayer.
The first Slayer was violated by Shadowmen. They picked her for no reason ( as far as we know ). She could have lived a normal life, and died a normal death.. but she didn't. She became a Slayer and than came violence, fighting and death. Her death. When she died another girl was chosen, and another, and so on. The spell that Shadowmen created recognized a potential in them to become Slayers and so they did.
We do not know how Slayer line worked before. It is possible that a girl was a Potential but never got chosen, because she became to old to be a Slayer when her time came... Maybe.. All we know is that the Slayer line changed when Buffy Summers was called.
First time she changed the line was in S1 finally. Xander gave her CPR, but she died just for a second and that was enough for mystical forces to call another Slayer - Kendra. So no longer was there one girl in all the world with the power to fight demons, but two of them.
And when Kendra died - still two - Faith was called. But when Buffy died in Gift no other Slayer was called, so its safe to say that she was no longer a part of the Slayer line, Faith was and only her death would allow a new Slayer to be called.
That is until Chosen. Buffy had Willow turn all the Potentials into Slayers. Now this sets ground for S8. Did she have right to do it? Does good have to much power now?
The way I see it she had to do it. Some people say she gave power to girls that didn't ask for it. Well we saw what happened to girls who didn't have that power and were attacked by Bringers. ( just so you know they died ). By giving them power she not only protected them, but she made herself an army that would help her stop the First.
Now there goes that speech she violated them like Shadowmen violated the first Slayer. Well not quite. They could have given power to them selves, they could have turned themselves into Slayers. But they didn't. They made one girl a Slayer, and destined thousands of others to become one in centuries to come. Buffy had to play by some rules. She could not give power to lets say Xander or Dawn. It had to be Potentials, they had to help her stop the First. And what was her other choice? To let all those girls die at the hands of Bringers? She gave them power to protect themselves and the world around them, she gave power to those who were destined to have it.
Her army does look a little gang-ish but the Slayers don't have to join it. We saw that Latina Slayer in issue #21.. she said no and no one forced her to join.
Does this system have its flaws. Of course. But Buffy didn't fix the world, she changed it! Was it for better or worse? Now thats the question S8 has to answer.

I loved this preview, can' wait for this issue to come out!
I had no idea Kennedy and Satsu would have such great chemistry. I'm not talking anything sexual ( yet) but two of them do seem to go well together. They are both strong minded, excellent slayers, lesbians, the conversation just seemed so natural and easy to read... They make a perfect team! I totally see them becoming best friends, or more...

Well Charmed was a good show in its own way and it had a lot of things different from Buffy, but the two are both fantasy shows using well known mythology so its normal that they overlap.
Buffy was in the beginning a show about female empowerment, a way to present high school as hell, to address teenage issues in a new way. Also it made a joke of a lot of horror movies and scary folklore figures, which I loved. It had a strong main mythology line ( Slayers, Watchers, Vampires, Old Ones) and some that could change the way writers wanted them to ( different types of demon, what witches can and can't do..). That continuity in mythology kept a lot of fans with the show. Its personal theme was centered around one girl fighting her way trough hisg school, and later life, dealing with problems, demons, and problems that became demons. It dealt with teen romance, friendship...
On the other hand Charmed had little, if any, continuity in mythology. Even the main figures in its mythology changed trough the show ( witches, wightlighters, warlocks ). Because of this Charmed did not have strong fandom as Buffy, but it had people who would tune in every 4 or 5 episodes, when they were in the mood for some light magic. On a personal level Charmed was a story about sisterhood, family, finding love...
I would argue that both shows have borrowed from each other ( like "Normal again" was aired after that episode in which Piper tricked into thinking she is insane by the Source).
In the begging Charmed had as much potential to be a cult show as Buffy did. But because writers didn't focused enough on keeping the magic cannon of the show in order ( as us geeks like it ), it soon became a pass-time show, and I find it very sad.
But the bottom line is, if you like Buffy ( and fantasy TV in general) give Charmed a shot, you might like it. Also try Hex ( kinda like British Buffy ) and Supernatural...

Well this took forever.. but it was fun little predictible but still fun. I got Cordelia Cordelia. Beautiful. Unreserved. Loyal. Superficial. Sarcastic. Greedy. The life of privilage is very nice. And you feel as if you deserve the finer things. Especially with all the things about yourself you keep inside. Your pain, your love, your needs... Everything except your opinion. You share that to anyone who will listen, and some that won't. You have the beauty of nobility, and on the surface, the personality of one too. But, that is not all that you are, and you know it. Cordelia 83% Oz 70% Xander 70% Buffy 68% Anya 63% Willow 58% Giles 58% Wesley 53% Spike 50% Lorne 48% Angel 45% Faith 43% Doyle 38% Harmony 33%
