i don't have any exams, well not coming up yet. But it's just my grades in general. im just worried im not doing good enough. And ive got pressue that my sister got into college with a 3.6 GPA, so my parents kinda expect the same. Oh, I've still got exams on the brain since all my friends have some coming up and they're all freaking out.

I'm not happy reading about all this cheating, in my job I deal with University students who have been caught cheating in exams and copying and using other people's work in their essays and reports, and I have to make sure they are brought to justice and punished....tut tut to you all I did okay in high school. Mainly As, Bs and Cs at GCSE (apart from science where I got 2 Es. I suck at science big time). A Levels so much worse, I got a C and 2 Es!! I hated college and was off sick a lot. looking back I should have redone a year, but back then I just wanted out of education. I went on to get a law degree and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice, and now have a pretty good job, so I guess I got there in the end Huge good luck wishes to all of you who have exams coming up, just keep positive and do your best, I'm sure you will all shine

In highschool I was boss! Everybody thought I was super smart, but I wasn't. I just studied a lot....no exceptional brain skills or anything. Except math. Which I sucked at, and had the choice not to take senior year so I didn't College was a different story...oh and I never cheated. I was (am?) morally against it.

I feel like cheating is a bit of a gray area. Tests and quizzes? Definitely not. If you couldn't bother studying, it's your own fault. Homework is a little different though. I don't know. Maybe it's wrong. If I couldn't find a few answers, but my friend is willing to share, I don't think it's better to just lose points. That way I actually learn it, and I know it for the test, instead of just never figuring it out.
To be honest though, I'm probably the one who people want answers from more often than the other way around.

Different story on tests or quizzes, i kinda laugh at all the people cheating in that department!

Everyone cheated on homework when I went. People were more worried about getting the answers from someone else then just doing it themselves. Study halls were just exchanging papers. I think cheating on homework is totally fine, it's a burden for some, would much rather just study instead. Friends had systems where one person would do the work one day, everyone copied, then someone would do the next, and so on.

I never cheated on homework if I didn't know the answers (well not often). I might have asked a friend to explain it, but I didn't copy it. The only time I copied homework was when I just down right didn't want to do it or if I forgot about doing it, so I'd rush to copy it down in registration.

For one of my history classes, one person would do the homework, and we all had the first lunch together, so then we would just pass the answers around. I have also found that the answers to most of my anatomy packets are on the internet, so if I'm feeling really lazy I'll just look those up.
A few people I know really don't let other people copy their homework though.

I don't cheat (usually), but everyone cheats/copies off me cause I'm a huge doormat. Except in math, of course.

Hmmm... was a long time ago. But let's see... I went to school in Malaysia, which roughly follows the British schooling system. So... let's see. Grades 7-9, usually A's. A couple of B's. The end of the world was a C in History once. But I made it through the government exams with 7 straight A's, so yay there. Grades 10-11 were my years of some rebellion. Generally made anything from A's to C's without actually trying... I was one of those people who stayed up till 2am, woke up at 6am, and slept the most during exams simply because I had an aversion to studying, which kinda worried my parents, but they figured I'd just get through it. Failed a Physics midterm once, and two Chem exams. Then came the O-levels, which was pretty much the final government exam that was mandatory (A-levels are optional, and many opt to take them in a private college, or skip them entirely if either enrolling in universities in Australia, Canada, or the USA, since there were other matriculation hoops to hop through). Scored 10 straight A's in those... don't really understand how that happened, since again, I really wasn't trying that hard... compared to my friends who were going frantic. So I guess I was just one of those lucky kids who just kinda slummed through without much effort.
College was kinda the same... graduated with a 3.6-ish with two minors... Grad school on the other hand... I'll let you know if I finish. Grade-wise, I think I'm sitting pretty on a 3.8-ish currently, but the research bit is kicking my ass.

In high school, I was the Willow kind of nerd. Loved school, I was even good at math and I used to share (my homework, my knowledge). I think otherwise people would simply have hated me. Being good at school isn't such a good basis for being a person others like. When I was in second grade (age 11, 12) I was stalked by a guy who wrote "Strebsau" (rough translation: "nerda§§") with chalk on my stuff. Those were hard times.
In college, studying law, I was fast but not so great with the grades. I just wanted to get it over with in order to be able work at the institute where I started as a studies assistant after 2 1/2 years. It's the place where I still work: lecturing and researching.

I was all over the place in high school. I was a smart kid, placed in Level 1 for all my classes (my high school had three levels), but if I didn't like the subject I wouldn't apply myself and my grades would slip. So English, Media Studies, Drama, basically anything creative or literature-based I would pull A's, anything else it was B's or C's, even though it should have been A's.
Year 11 I pulled straight A's. (in Australia, or more specifically Canberra where I grew up, private high schools go from Years 7 - 12 but public high schools go from Years 7 - 10 and then Years 11 & 12 are separate and are referred to as "College". Weird, I know). Anyway, when you get to College you can drop and pick up whichever subjects you want to. So I took all my favourite subjects and excelled.
Year 12, however, I royally screwed up. I had left my parents' house and I spent most of the year partying and neglecting my studies. I ended up barely scraping through.

I went to a Secondary Modern when I was at school. For most part I enjoyed it, my best subjects were history, religious studies and geography. Left schol at 15 and no certificates. But I decided to get my educational qualifications over the years and have better off than when I was at school. An A level in Engish, O levels in English Language, Sociology, Geography and Esperanto (they no longer do that exam!), National levels in Norwegian Language, a certifificate in maths (equal to our old CSE's) and the ECDL in computer studies, plus a few others.

^^ Norwegian! I tried to learn Norwegian too many years ago, when I was studying Scandinavistics, but I quit when I got a job a law school. It's one of my dreams to be fluent in Norwegian, just because I love the country so much

I wouldn't worry too much about how well you do in high school, as it's your ambitions and aspirations that will make you. I performed outstandingly at secondary school (as we Brits call it), getting 10 A*s at GCSE (15-16 years old) and 5 As at A-Level (17-18 years). This got me into Cambridge, where I read Archaeology and Anthropology for three years. \
Sounds good right? Well, it is, except like Moon Eyes said before, I did all of these things for other people, my parents and the teachers, rather than for myself. While at uni, I realised that I didn't really have any motivations of my own and kinda just slacked off, smoking copious amounts of weed and taking drugs. I got a 2.1 in the end, cruising on past knowledge (and Arch and Anth is a doss subject).
Now I don't really know what to do with my life, and the academic success seems a little pointless. So I'd say, if you have a clear plan for the future, you're better off than someone who gets the grades but doesn't have any direction.
