I'm exciting about the Spike comic...... Four issues is awesome...wish it could be more...
I'm a bit bummed that its not a mini series on TV, but alas, its spike in one form which rocks!

See I dont see it that way at all. I am an Angel fan first and foremost,yet I don't see this as Spike stealing Angels 'thunder'. No more than Faith stole Buffy's thunder with her 'mini within a story'. This is just another part of the main story. I think that we will see more than Spikes story in this.Of course Illyria will play a main part.And I suspect we will see Connor involved as well. Agreed they are both great characters, but that's not going to stop me from hoping that there will be an after "After the fall" series with Spike as lead. I am a Spike fan first and foremost but i do enjoy Angel's story as well. |

I haven't but, I'm not sure if I can deal with this much more! Do you think they will each be released on a seprete week?Cause I got to annoy someone into giving me a ride to the nearst store which is not to close. So wow. It will be every single week with the exception of one. 3 out of 4 weeks of each month for four months. It's gonna be tough but, MORE BUFFY

Mmm, I wish Dark Horse would do something similar, ie announce spin-offs from Season 8. A monthly series just ain't enough!
Maybe a following the "No Future For You" ending, Faith-Giles duo miniseries.
Or a prequel dealing with what happened in between "Chosen" and "Long Way Home"

I watched Buffy right from the start and loved the show from episode one but it was Spike's arrival that made me the fan I am today and it's Spike who I will always consider my real Buffyverse hero. About time that he got his own canon series, considering how much of a role he played on both series.
My only regret is that there will likely never be any televised Spike series and/or telemovie. I'm still somewhat hopeful that somehow Joss and James will get something to happen but if that never happens then at least Spike finally gets the starring role he deserves in the comic continuation.

In that sense, you can't begrudge the writers using a character they know will generate viewers. As for the two previous IDW series, I was talking canon comics, although I'm kinda hopeful those two series will be retconned into the canon Buffyverse now. |

Amen to that. Spike is my absolute favorite Whedon character, hands down. I absolutely luuurve him. Even defanged puppy-dog season 7 Spike. But in Angel Season 5, that's when he got his rocks back. And I am loving him in ATF. But I need more! MORE! MOOOOORE! And now I'll have it...for 4 months, at least... |

I have thought that has some good stories left in him before he becomes too familiar to use on his own. Maybe with this set of stories some "Asylum" alumni will show up and be cannon!

We'll actually be having double Spike if A:ATF and S:ATF run at the same time. There'll be his and Illyria's back story plus their current doings with Angel in Hell-A.
3 Whedon comics per month for 4 months! (and watch one of them go on hiatus just to kill my buzz).

I think that's a lovely idea. I'd prefer to see it as a series of backup stories in season eight, though. Sorta' like what Jay Faerber did with the early issues of Noble Causes. I'm kinda hopeful those two series will be retconned into the canon Buffyverse now. Asylum and Shadow Puppets were absolutely wonderful, and just as canon-quality as anything that's came out of the Buffyverse. I just don't think they could be integrated into the timeline, though. :/ |
