As well as they should. To be honest I doubt that Dark Horse will give Angel nearly enough attention as IDW does. This is my biggest concern about the move, if they could have just canonized the Angel stories from IDW and let them be on there merry way we wouldn't have to worry about his fate. Truth is that When Angel hits DH I think alot of us Angel fans are going to be more pissed then the Armstrong and willingham runs combined. Like many have said Angel isn't just about Angel. It's about the team and mythos he's biult on his own. To erase or subvert that for Buffy would be wrong. Heck If IDW puts out 6 Angel books in the months before the switch I'll gladly take them because I know they'll be a mixture of quality and quantity rather than Dh's Angel which might just be a supplement to Buffy. |

Dammit. I don't have money to keep up with all of these mini series!
I'm more cautious of this one because I'm not sure if Illyria can hold up an entire mini-series on her own. I love Illyria, but as a lead character? I'm not sure.

I mean no Ridley' Scott's serpent aliens, but that one – the grey with big black eyes, who is smoking a cigarette here. And that panel with the demons who are queuing reminds me to the alien station from Men In Black, but the station here looks smaller  And it’s a pleasure to see Spike and Illyria together since Spike ATF. p.s. And on Buffy season 8 Spike is dealing with some alien Bugs so maybe he will meet them in Area 51 for first time ?!  |

Well, it's a start for the alien bugs. So we'll see if they show up in here or in Spike. Maybe this is where Spike learns about them and goes off to look for them or something like that. I dunno. I'm looking forward to reading the issues

I’m not sure about the chronology of these issues – when it supposes to happen – before Spike to go in Vegas? Or during his time in Vegas? Spike just went to Groom Lake to help to his old friend? |

I'm really getting the idea that Spillyria is gonna get some decent attention in this series. I mean, all the little hints that were coming out way in the Main Title, and now Illyria sets out to 'find Spike', according to Connor... And they're all duo-ed up again, first time really since AtF! I can dream! |

From what I understand, Illyria takes place between Angel #38 and #39 or most likely taking place concurrently as Angel #39-44. All we know is that it spins out of Angel #38. The Spike series, however, I think will take place later on, probably after Angel #44 wraps. Spike says he's leaving, but he didn't say where. Spike's been known to say he'll leave several times, but he comes back to the main story. We know he features in the Illyria miniseries, so the Spike series may take place after that as well. We'll definitely have a better sense of how it all fits as the issues come in. |

I got a super high resolution copy of the issue sans text bubbles back before NYCC and, honestly, I think this the best Elena's don by far and might very well be my favorite interior art for any Whedon property thus far. |

Well, Elena's pencils weren't always the problem for me. Yeah, I think her work lacks detail and looks a tad generic at times, but my art quibbles were usually squarely on the inker and colorist. The last few ANGEL books had inks that looked incomplete to me; where the solid blacks weren't solid. And the coloring was pretty remedial, IMO... lifeless and smudgy. The pages posted so far look like a vast improvement to me. And I love the page with the crayon drawings. Very cute.

Color me excited... Times 100! ;D Seriously, these pages have me at my deepest fanboy level. I've always loved Elena's art, and never really saw any problem with the colors are inker. I actually love the colors used in the Angel Title. But this art, all of it, is sooo much more amazing! I'm very, very interested in the Illyria/Spike page. I wonder if it's all in Illyria's head, hence the crayon drawings? It's super neat to see Illyria in Fred's attire. And Spike/Illyria! God, I'm in love. I've been calling out Spillyria actions in this mini, and I'm getting even more sure I'm correct. I mean... It's gotta happen! Illyria is all 'Fred'd' out, and Spike's with her... -facepalm- Please!? |
