I will be buying this, but I am very cautious. Anyone else writing Illyria will be better than how Willingham has been doing, though, so I'm more optimistic than usual.

No need to be cautious. I talk to Scott Tipton all the time, and he comes to the Buffyverse with everyone a fan wants. Passion, interest, skill, and a healthy amount of give-a-shit about the characters.

OMG OMG OMG OMG. I knew it! I predicted this last year because they were pumping out all those Illyria-centric books last fall.

Well, I saw this over at Whedonesque. My first reaction was, "... Seriously?"
I can't believe ANOTHER miniseries is coming out. Even if it is about Illyria. I love her. But I'm iffy on this. I've just officially given up on the main title, but maybe this will be decent. The cover is beautiful, for sure. I just hope the story/art is as good inside.

ANOTHER miniseries?
Well, let's hope they can write Illyria properly. Just goes to show how much the current Angel story sucks, cuz they're all doing miniseries

The month this comes out it'll be coupled with the regular series, The second issue of Spike, and the end of Spike the devil you know...thats alot of Angel-verse stuff to keep up with. Hope its good tho, Mariah seems to be genuinely interested in the outcome of these characters and its cool she actually wants this to mesh continuity wise.

Like the others said "ANOTHER miniseries" I like it if this means that the team is goings its own way. I just don't find it believable that they are the new ‘Team Angel’ and I want the main title to come to an end already before it becomes sour. I want Angel to become Twilight already, Spike to have his spotlight series and Illyria (With Connor, James, Laura and Gunn) to have theirs or to take over the main title when Angel finally has gone over to “Buffy”. Back on topic, what can Illyria really do that she hasn’t done before? Can she really hold the lead title? (again)

Well it seems like any series illyria has been has never really explored her perspective. even in only human it was mostly Gunn's narration.

I'm fine with another miniseries, so long as it's about someone other than Spike. I've learned to accept that Angel has become a traditionally messy comic book franchise, with multiple titles of varying quality. It works for Marvel, and it's actually working okay for Angel (they just need a stronger main title to keep everything tied together). Just pick and choose the books that interest you, it's quite nice to have a selection.
Also, what a beautiful cover. Much better than Jenny's recent covers for Angel and Spike, which have been pretty bland.

Spifrillyria was the name of the Spike/Illyria ship in the buffyfest-article. I've only ever heard of Spillyria. Is Spifrillyria common?

Cover artists sure do love the concept of "shattered pieces" for Illyria - see also: Angel AtF #13 (the puzzle pieces cover). I like the way Elena did it though - mirrors, reflections of Fred.

I adjusted the the title of the thread since Ryall called the series just Illyria, although a subtitle could be added later, also added the covers to the first post.
Both look great. I think Elena is one of the better artists to capture Illyria. She does great work with Illyria's eyes.

Spifrillyria was the name of the Spike/Illyria ship in the buffyfest-article. I've only ever heard of Spillyria. Is Spifrillyria common? Sky, I'm pretty sure 'Spifrillyria' is Spike/Fred!Illyria. People would refer to her as Frillyria, because she kept changing into Fred in AtF, and Spike had feelings mainly for Fred. Now we know that it wasn't really Fred at all, so I'm a bit curious why that shipping name was used in the article. Maybe it's to indicate Illyria is more Fred-like now? Getting in touch with her humanity... Also, that new cover is wonderful! I love all of the chosen moments in the backgrounds. And Illyria looks great; Like herself. I hope all of these covers are collected in the TPB, because odds are I'll be picking that up. And from the looks of the newest cover, I'd say Illyria will be fighting an internal battle. Those memories behind her are of Wesley and Spike. I bet she'll be debating over feelings for Wesley or Spike. I could be wrong, and it could just be referring to the memories implanted there by the two, but that sure'd be an awesome plot, IMO.

It would have been nice if you put Lorne and Cordy on the cover with Fred as well.

Well, with the Spike/Fred/Illyria thing, I called it Spredlyria.
Very nice cover. I like it how it's like shattered glass, similar to ATF #16 and that it's got memories of Wesley and Spike, with a little Gunn and Angel there as well. I'm interested in it, but I wanna know how it goes first before I think of buying it.

Love the logo! It needs more blue, though. xD Illyria; Purple? Nah, I think blue is more of her style. I wonder if this miniseries was forced out at all, because of the Dark Horse move coming up? Maybe IDW is trying to get out as many issues as possible...

As well as they should. To be honest I doubt that Dark Horse will give Angel nearly enough attention as IDW does.
