If Tara came back, Willow would move mountains to be with her again.

I think it's a null issue since Tara isn't coming back. Honestly, if they brought back Tara for some kind of appearance in flashback, dream, or ghost thing, what I think is most likely is that she would be very happy for Willow finding someone she loves. Telling Willow she's glad she moved on.

Besides, Willow being with Tara is what every Buffy fan wants most, and Joss never gives the fans a happy ending in his relationships.

If Tara came back, Willow would drop Kennedy like a sack of bricks...and you know it. Hehe I agree completely. In fact if Tara did return, I'd imagine Kennedy might just get a "break up answering machine message" XD. But as for the original question, I think in the long run I would be just fine with the comics losing their canonicity. I would love if a movie could work around them and keep them canon, but anything new in the Buffyverse gets me so excited, so I am just fine with a movie. I would still buy the comics because I just love reading them, the fact that they are canon just makes them more special. So keep the comics going, bring on a movie, either way, I am just happy to have more Buffy. I have to agree. I think everyone here would love to see a movie that works with the comics as canon, but all in all, a movie would far more appealing to this audience than comics, generally speaking. There are pros and cons to each one which we are all aware of, however from Darkhorse's view, a Buffy movie would only increase sales of the comics if they were to be kept canon, but decrease sales if they were uncanonized. It is in Joss' and everyone else's favor to keep them both, if a movie were to be made. As for Willow choosing Tara over Kennedy... it's blatantly obvious. Existentially, Joss does say that Tara was the love of her life. I do think Kershmuckit is right to say that Willow's possessiveness and protection over Kennedy extends from her ever-present love of Tara. She cannot forgive herself for allowing Tara in danger which resulted in her death, and is unwilling to make that mistake again with another love. I don't take this to mean that Willow loves Kennedy more than Tara, but rather that Willow still loves Tara even though she is in a 'ship with Kennedy, attesting to the persistence and depth of her love of Tara.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if Joss were to come out and declare that Season 8 is non-canon and therefore not Season 8 anymore, then the series would never see another top 25 monthly sales spot. Like, Faith go boom. Big time. The status as a canon continuation is absolutely what's driving the sales on this series.

Tara's death was of the non mystical kind, and even if she had died mystically, she needs to stay dead. I loved her character and i loved her with Will but when youve bowed, you leave the crowd.
and the whole wish thing- do you guys think buffy would really ressurect someone after she herself had been ripped out of heaven? that was the worst thing that ever happened to her i doubt she would 'wish' that fate on anyone else.

I don't think Willow would go back to Tara if she came back [but i really really don't want her to come back it would just kill the story of her death] If her new love with Ken is strong she will have moved on from Tara. Sure she would still love her but she would have found a new love. Plus if Tara did ever come back who's saying she wouldn't be damaged i for one would rather if she came back that she was damaged it wouldn't feel right if she came back all fine and dandy.
I would be beyond pissed if they made a movie and they said the comics where not canon or that they would stop because of that.

That's what I mean by 'shipping your way past the text. How, exactly, did Tara "put Willow on the path she's on"? Unless you're honestly defining her sexuality as a meaningful part of her life's journey, in which case... that's kinda depressing in its shallowness for Willow. The rest of Willow's life got a big old reset button pushed on it in "The Killer in Me", and it was pushed... by Kennedy.
All that was left of Tara's Willow was first the monster, and then the girl too afraid of herself and her own power. That's not Tara's fault, but it's what Willow had left with only the memory of Tara to draw on. Willow didn't find her strength and courage again until she realized she was strong enough to go on without Tara.
And how many people did you hear cheering in "War of the Worlds" when Tom Cruise's kid showed up at the end? It was too ridiculously cutesy to be celebrated. Tara has been dead for almost three years in the Buffyverse's timeline. There was no catch, no trick to it. It's just done. It sucked, but it's done.

How exactly does the Tara resurrection question have to do with the original question? Maybe we can keep on subject or start a new post for that one shall we?

It would have to have all the cast back and have a WAY better story than Season Eight. It would have to have Spike and Angel too. Really for me to be 100% for the movie I think that it would have to be a cross over movie. Have everyone back and make it a TRUE save the world for good kinda story.

That's taking it from ''shipping past the text' to ''shipping instead of the text'. Where in Season 7 did Willow decide to become the woman she is because Tara was watching her? If anything, Willow's love for Tara was the biggest part of her coming unglued in the first place. And it was for fear of what that love made her do that Willow hid under a rock for the first half of Season 7.
And Willow, per her own words in "The Killer In Me", thought she'd be killing Tara all over again to even move on with any part of her life, to forget to be miserable for any amount of time. She was like that poor cheerleader in "We Are Marshall" who was going to give up on every plan she had for her life so she could be properly grief-stricken. Willow turned away from that, and it wasn't Tara that drew her out, it was Kennedy.
It is relevant, Aluminum, since real quick it's clear that a canon reset for a movie would jump Tara to near the top of the wishlist.

Not bringing Tara back is one of things I consider Season 8 has going for it.
As for what would make me ditch the comics for the movie... well I'm mentally disgarding it now with just these tiny hints at a movie, so not a lot lol.

Okay Mikey. How exactly did Taras 's death put Willow on the path she is today. First off Tara died and Willlow went evil...it was XANDER who helped her get over it by saying that he loved her. Even after all of that Willow spent ALOT of season 7 going on about how she went evil and can't use magic. If anything the only people who put Willow on the path she is today is Buffy/Giles and Willow herself. Buffy and Giles because they sort of pushed her and made her see that she is capable of using magic without going evil. There are alot of examples of this on season 7 'End of Days' and 'Chosen'. It was the fact that Willow done the spell to make all the potential's full slayers that put her on the path. Also where about EVER has it been mentioned that Tara was looking down at Willow from heaven. Willow would not stop seeing Kennedy if Tara came back it would be 100% totally out if character and if Joss done it It would just be alot of fan pleasing bal*ocks Tara died and Willow found someone else. It's called MOVING ON WITH YOUR LIFE. Willow would be a pretty crap character if she just bitch*d about losing Tara every episode, can you imagine seeing that in the comics....oh Tara died three years ago and I can't move on. Everyone would get bored and annoyed at her. Anyway after my big rant I would just like to point out and remind everyone that Tara is NOT REAL. She is played by Amber Benson who is an actress. Sorry to say this but it's true, oh and whilst I'm at it there is no Santa/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy either.

I would ignore the comics for a movie if one little thing happens: the movie!!!!!!!!!! I like the comics because they are all we have, but i would much prefer more on screen than on paper.

Back on topic for a moment,I would be kinda irritated if they just erased season 8.I only started with the comic because it was the official continuation of the main story. While I would love it if they did a movie,I'd be annoyed if they just came out and said "You know that story you've been reading for the past year? The one that we told you was 'real'?Well,we lied"

Yeah... that's something even I wasn't thinking about. If Season 8 just got completely decanonized, I would sorta feel like I'd gotten slightly screwed out of about... $150, $200 worth of comic books

My one concern with erasing season 8 for a Buffy movie is how could it do justice to all that we fans would want to see. It would be a very crowded movie if it had everyone we wanted there plus if we did a crossover and resurrected some people or had afterlife appearances.
Alive characters: Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles, Dawn, Faith, Oz, Andrew, Angel, Spike (if we're having a movie I'd want Angel and Spike back)
Dead characters, back by popular demand: Anya, Tara, Cordelia, Wes
So we've got over a dozen characters and they're not all going to get the attention they deserve in one movie. Just like with Serenity and the focus mainly on Mal and River. Or at the Paleyfest Reunion when Amber Benson, Charisma Carpenter and Emma Caulfield barely spoke. That's a lot of Buffyverse to pack into one movie.

So not entering the Tara discussion....
...then again I never believed Whedon ever intended to bring her back.
On the whole I'd rather have the comic book. If there ever was a movie it would have to be a reboot and feature an entirely new cast to even have a chance of working.
