I really dig Fosters covers actually, not as much as Chen's...but I think the style really fits the arc.
I cannot believe that the new issue is already out next week... this was a short wait for me it... Usually it seems like forever between issues.

I agree with you barryshaft! I can't believe this is going to be out this week already. This wait felt like nothing! I wish it always felt like that!
Just a couple more days till we find out what this HUGE surprise is! I'm so excited!

I agree, the wait did seem a lot shorter. I guess because February is the shortest month, but still... that time flew by.

It's so soon now. I really hope the "big reveal" or "big surprise" or whatever isn't a let down. I hope it's Oz. I recently watched the Angel episode "In the Dark" and Oz was so hilarious in that episode. Especially the line about Angel being very pale.

I'm trying not to get too excited about a huge twist...I've noticed a lot of comics hype up stuff simply to drum up the numbers. The end of Angel: After The Fall #4 was advertised as having a bigger shock ending then the previous three... when in actuality it wasn't really a shock at all...especially compared to the huge one at the end of #3. Also, it sets me up for more amazement if they really do throw a crazy twist at us 8 pages and the issue isn't even out yet...Awesome. EDIT: Cause... 9 pages

I'll love Willow again when she starts being Willow and stops being Random Witch Who Can't Be Beaten By Anyone And WooHoo She Flies. Where has that character gone? She lost her personality in Seasons Five-Seven to be sure, but what Joss has done with her in this season is the opposite of character development.

If you want to know what the big surprise is, go to whedonesque.com. Or click this link to a New York Times article. Big Spoilers. www.nytimes.com/2008/03/05/books/05buffy.html?ref=artsIt's a big surprise for me, I can't wait to see how it plays out. It's pretty unexpected. Although I'm still also hoping for a return of Oz this issue.

Gotta say, it's sort of unexpected, but, given Buffy's current state, not all that surprising.

My heart has just sunk...I thought the "big" thing for this issue would be something better than this. Can we say over-hyped much? But I guess we'll see what becomes of this. I'm not happy, but I was surprised. This is starting to feel like a cheap stunt to me. Nevertheless I'm sure Joss needs to get this out there so I my faith is unwavering hehe.

I'm sayin "ok" to many times. I think it's fine for Buffy to try it, but I want her to stay with her guys. As long as they cover that's it's just an "experiment" by the end of this arc, it will be fine. And I still hope Oz returns too. But that was probably the big surprise so it's not likely.javascript:add(

I was completely shocked when I read it , still not to sure what to think of it, suppose we'll see in the next couiple if issues how she handles it, Joss said this when he was asked about it in an interview: "But before fans start blogging frantically, they should know that i'm clear where this is headed. “We’re not going to make her gay, nor are we going to take the next 50 issues explaining that she’s not. She’s young and experimenting, and did I mention open-minded”?

Anyone else really angry that the Times posted this before the issue came out? You'd think they'd wait until Thursday morning. That is such bullshit. Especially since they KNOW a fan couldn't help but click. Grrrrrrrr.

Bringing my post over from another forum:
I'm not sure what message Joss is trying to send, or what aspect of human psychology he is trying to explore with this. We've already done "sex without love, or sex where love is really suppressed" (Marti Noxon) in Season 6. Pretty much the only novel thing about this situation is that Satsu is a girl, but really, what is the point of doing it at all, when Joss has practically stated that it's a one-time deal? Satsu was going to pine for Buffy even without this; Buffy was going to be disinterested in a serious homosexual relationship even without this; so is it just for the shock factor?
And I didn't mind emotionless sex with Spike/Buffy, because it wasn't doomed to always remain emotionless, like this is, and because both Buffy and Spike got something out of it. But this is more or less retreading old ground and has no immediate purpose that I can discern. Buffy isn't going to discover her "juice and darkness and kinky" (Jane Espenson) or her inferiority complex about her superiority complex now, and Satsu isn't going to seek out her soul or anything.
I wonder if Joss didn't go there for this reason:
Joss Whedon: And we thought, how do you follow Oz? People loved the shit out of him, though they hated him when he first arrived. The one romance that we could give [Willow] that would really affect people in a new way would be with a woman. We didn't know how far we were going to go with it.
In this case, "how do you follow Spike and Angel?" as he said in another interview.

Me too. I hope hope hope that this arc will turn out to be a dream that someone is having. Buffy did tell Satsu in the last issue that other people were bound to pick up on her affection for her so hopefully someone did and this is all just a dream. Maybe Xander's.

I was honestly very shocked when I read this issue. (about 3 minutes ago) It really does seem way out of character for Buffy, but at the same time it doesn't. I'm curious where it's going to go. I think it was a great way to create typical drama between the characters. That's what I always liked about BtVS. Yes there's the mythical aspect of everything, but there's always the very real drama that happens between friends and loved ones, and I kinda think that was the point of what happened between those two. It's brining in the drama that isn't driven by "evil forces"
I do hope Joss and everyone really treats this arc delicately, but I have no doubt we won't be disappointed in the end.

I'm still trying to put my cerbral cortex back together after seeing that page.
There's joy, dread, and disappointment (in it not being whom I wished to be), but a whole lot of admiration too. Bravo, Joss. Bravo. And a sneaking suspection that Joss just did it to screw with us.
Would it be really terrible if Buffy had a loving, sexual relationship with another woman?
