Acclaimed television series writer, Drew Goddard (Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Alias; Lost), takes the reins on Season Eight with his four-issue arc titled "Wolves at the Gate." The gang (yep, Dawn too) travels to Tokyo where they duel vampires with unusual, yet strangely familiar, powers.

With Joss Whedon serving as executive producer, Georges Jeanty (The American Way) as series artist, and Jon Foster on covers, Buffy Season Eight continues to entertain longtime Buffy fans and newcomers alike.

I think I like the Jeanty cover better. I love how he used Willow and Xander in it.

So are these Vampires that can turn into wolves...like Dracula.

Both covers are very nice. But, I do miss Jo as well. I can only imagine what she could have done with the cover art set in Tokyo.

I really like the Jeanty cover as well. I normally don't like his covers (I'm just not into the really cartoon look) but I think his sometimes have really interesting visuals, like this one and the cover with Willow and Xander putting the Buffy puzzle together (which I think was a great representation of the series as a whole - Buffy's friends helping her).

I will be picking up both covers I think.

I really like the covers for both, but I think for once I might actually be buying Jeanty's cover because I really miss Jo's work and I'm not to fond of this new artist.

I LOVE both covers, they are so AWESOME!!! I hope Oz comes in this comic, and it would be awesome if the kept him as a regular for the rest of season 8.

It would be nice to see Oz back and it could be possible seeing as how he was traveling the world. The only thing about Oz coming back that I don't want is Willow saying she isn't a lesbian anymore and getting back together with him.

Love this cover even though the likeness isn't as strong as Jo's and love the blurb. So excited about this!!! I hope Dracula doesn't featyre heavily in this arc considering the whole vamp/wolves thing!

I am apperently the only one who thinks the normal cover is just as good as Jo's are. Just in a different way. I love it and for once I think the Jeanty one is amazing too. My problem with Jeanty's covers are the fact that they look too much like the art on the inside, which isn't weird, seeing as that's his art too.

It seems like we're looking at vampire werewolves, it'll be interesting to see how they pull that one off. I was under the impression that Goddard's arc was going to be a Xander story, though. It's a shame they're plugging the Buff on the cover.

I'm with you. I love Fosters cover. It's just a different style, very art nouveau, beautiful and creative.
I'm going to want both of these. They rock.

I find it interesting that both covers feature werewolves who seem to be "smoking" or something is billowing off of them. See that??

Also this is the "giant-sized" issue in commemoration of Buffy's anniversary. It will be 40 pages!

Think the woman in the Foster cover might be a wacky take on Drusilla? It would be interesting to see Dracula and Dru together. She might buy into his cheesy crap! LOL

I like this cover. The n00b who's name escapes me has a good grasp on drama that Jo lacked early on. Probably the best varient too.

Me too. And I don't want her looking past what a jerk he was to her.

I like these covers! They look really cool. And I love the title "Wolves At The Gate". How cool! Vampire werewolves could be really interesting. I like Jon's Buffy likeness. And...

Also, where did we see that this will be a Xander arc? I thought it wasn't really centered on anyone. Also, on the Foster cover, I think you can see the werewolf in between the vamps morphing from vamp to wolf. Might just be me but I think I can see something. Finally, I'm glad it's gonna be a vampire-based arc. And 40 pages! WOOP!

Scoot Allie said one time in the Buffy Zone that the Tokyo Arc will have a focus on Xander. I bet this will be the arc where Drac makes his comeback. Familar powers? Vampire Werewolves? Mist? Maybe this will be where "Antique" from Tales of the Vampires fits in.

I'm seriously so excited for this arc. The Scooby Gang in Tokyo! How cool is that?! I wonder how they will get Dawn down there. And I'm VERY happy this arc will be centered around vampires! I miss Buffy staking vamps.
