The Jon cover with Buffy reminds me of her dress in PG.
Maybe Buffy was sent to stop a war between Vampires and Were-wolfs? I really hope that there not cross breeds Were-Vamps don't appeal to me. I mean you cant be born a were-wolf can you? then be bitten by a vampire..... I really cant wait to read the comic to find out. Has there been any Spoilers yet?

The vamp chick has wolf paws.
Dracula can take the form of a wolf, so it may not be simple cross-breeding. Were-vamps is pretty lame but Buffy has never been one for shockingly original monster concepts. It's the spin on the idea that seperates Buffy normally.

What season 8 needs is some monsters no one has ever done before. Like mummys... mummy that are ON FIRE. That's cool. Or perhaps some kind of evil sponge.

I wonder if "the Gate" means something more than just a fence. Could Tokyo be some center of mystical activity as well?? yeah Tokyo's on a Hellmouth. :vampirebite:

So would like to see that Mickey maybe Buffy and Twilight have it out in 'Sunset' and he leaves her after kicking her butt (like Adam did). Leaves her to lick her wounds whilst he carries on with his plan? Has there been any spoiler of what the next arch will be about? Maybe that will be all about him?

Question though...where the hell has Twilight gone? Like, they intro the new bad...and then all of the sudden we get at least 4 chapters without him because of the Tokyo arc? I wonder how, if at all, they'll fit him into a story about the wolves/vamps. I've only watched each season of Buffy a few times...but isn't it commen for the Big Bad to be back burnered for an episode or two after they have been intorduced, and throughout the season? Besides, we don't know that Twilight won't be involved in the arc...from what I can see from the first two arcs and the one shots this plot is a world wide story. So being in Tokyo does not necessarily equal no Twilight.

Solicitations are out: Acclaimed television series writer, Drew Goddard (Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Alias; Lost), takes the reins on Season Eight with his four-issue arc titled "Wolves at the Gate."Oh geez... I am really NOT a fan of Alias or Lost, lol.

He wrote some great episodes of Buffy and Angel including Selfless, Conversations with Dead People, Never Leave Me, Lies My Parents Told Me, and Dirty Girls from Buffy and Lineage, Damage, Why We Fight, Origins, and The Girl in Question from Angel.

And he also wrote that upcoming movie Cloverfield, which looks absolutely amazing. I'm really excited to see what Drew brings to Season 8, I really loved all his Buffy/Angel episodes. I'm also interested in seeing how this arc will sell. These are the first comics in the series being written by a someone who isn't a well-known comic writer. Hopefully the sales will still be over 100,000.

Woot! Can't wait for this arc. Drew Goddard? He did write some amazing episodes...I really can't wait. Oops, already said that. I mean it, though, I really really do.
That cover is horrible, though. Jeanty's is cool because the normal one sucks and because samurai Buffy just looks awesome! Speaking of the normal/variants, I wonder why the normal comic's cover isn't up as a thumbnail with all the other covers...Well actually I do because like I said, it sucks! So kudos for using the variant!

Cloverfield, that's that scary Blaire Witch Project-meets-Dawn of the Dead movie... looks interesting. Yes, CwDP is one of my favorites from Season 7. And Damage is one of my favorites from Season 5. He was also a huge Buffy and Angel fan before he became a writer for the show, so he knows the Buffy world! And you forgot that Cloverfield also meets Godzilla along with the Blair Witch Project and Dawn of the Dead The problem with being a writer on Lost and Alias is that few of the episodes really stand out because of the heavy continuality from episode to episode so your writing and episodes really get lost in the overall show. Joss has continuality, but he also gives us episodes that stand a lone...even though they contribute to the over all arc.

Sweet, I am so looking forward to this arc! Godzilla??? what-? Sorry, I guess I got a little too motion sick from the shaky camera in the previews That is so true, Joss astounds me with his storytelling. I never know with certainty what is coming next! Hey, is it just me, or does Buffy look a bit like a blond Dawn on Jon's cover?

Wow Drew writes for Lost? It's a comepletely different style of story telling, like the anti-Buffy. Thought I'd be able to tell his episodes out haha

Hell, I'll settle for an actual acknowledgment that he really is gay. I mean, he clearly is, and playing it as a joke was very cute, but if he's going to get more screen (by which I mean page) time, they should probably make it official.
