Angel. It seriously took me something like 4 years after finishing Buffy for a friend to finally convince to give his show a chance. I mean, how could a show starring such a 1-dimensional, personality-less dork possibly be good? Anyway, I ended up loving Angel (show and character) even more than Buffy, but this doesnt change the fact that hes completely bland in BtVS Seasons 1-3(Angelus aside). Or that his recurring appearances in later seasons make him look like an over posessive ex-boyfriend. Buffy is like kryptonite to Angel. He just completely sucks when hes around her.

I was stereotypically torn between Riley and Kennedy. In the end, I had to go with Riley. He annoyed me beyond annoyance. It's kind of like when you read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and you just want to jump in the book and punch Professor Umbridge in the face. That's how I felt about Riley.
(Yes...I am aware that he is a muscular dude and he could definitely take me...but I would have at least tried)
As for Kennedy...She is not Tara. It's kind of similar to the feeling everyone would get if the Beatles got back together, but they replaced Paul with a real live fresh stinky turd. People would go "What? That is no Paul. That is a turd! That turd is just retarded." That's how I feel about Kennedy.
*end of rant*

I completely agree. I don't think he was the worst character on Buffy, but I certainly agree with your reasons for not liking him. One of the reasons I love Angel more than Buffy (the shows), is because of what they did with Angel's character. The creative team and David Boreanez turned Angel into a fantastic leading man with so many layers. Watching him lead a team over those years was just awesome television. Who ever thought that Angel teaming up with Cordelia and Wesley would turn into something so awesome? I certainly didn't when I first started watching Angel.

When I first heard about Angel I wouldn't even give it a chance... my first thought was a spinoff featuring all the buffy rejects (angel cordy wes) and i thought it would be subpar. never thought i'd end up being more sucked in than with buffy.

I have three, but I only voted for one.
Riley Fin...WTF was with him. I couldn't stand him at all. It seemed to me that the only reason he was there was so that Buffy could have a F*** buddy. Pardon my language. He had no reason to be on that show...he should've been killed the moment he walked on. GRGGH!
Kennedy. Grggh. This little *rhymes with witch* took Tara's place. I'm angry that Willow originally told her no, but the little sloot continued her pursuit. She distorted Willow's thinking processes...GRGGH! Sorry about the exaggerations (sp?).. But she was pointless as well.
Warren. He killed Tara. He almost killed Buffy. 'Nuff said.

KenneDIE, spoilt, arrogant and offensive!! The fact that we're supposed to believe that Willow would fall this woman was just dumb... what they're both lezbots so of course they're going to fall for each other? PUHlease.. offensive. Didn't care for Riley either "waaa pay attention to me Buffy, I know your mother is DYING but im needy.' What a [censored!]. Ps I cant believe someone put Willow?? Whoever put Willow as the worst character of the show should be punched. Sorry. But Willow is tre superly amazing!!

Giles. He is a boring character. I only liked him when he came back to kick Willow's ass for the Season 6 finale.

Voted other for Adam-He ruined what was otherwise a great season. And, poor Riley- I loved Riley, until his last ep where the writers totally destroyed his character. When you stop and think about it, he was the perfect man for Buffy-someone who wasn't a vamp, who could fit in her world and not get killed. He was cool and georgeous. They made a great fighting team. I can't believe that fans hate Riley more than Rona or any other potential-all a waste of storytelling time as far as I'm concerned, and that includes Kennedy! Also, hated the whole evil trio-not funny and not villains-just scared little boys who refused to grow up! Warren and Johnathan deserved what they got, and I couldn't stomach Andrew on Season 7 at all. And, whoever voted for Buffy in this poll should be voted off this site!

I've been rewatching Season 5 and I think Riley's leaving was kinda inevitable since he defected from the Initiative the year before. It was just like Graham said, he had become the "mission's boyfriend" and had lost his sense of direction. His identity was completely wrapped up in Buffy and his insecurity really started to show. Without his own individual pursuits he just starting flailing around; I think it was almost like all the extra time he had lent towards him overanalyzing their relationship. The insecurity about Dracula biting Buffy, Buffy's dark side emerging that he couldn't understand, Buffy having to be strong for her mom and sister. I think he blamed Buffy for not making him feel needed enough because she's the only area of his life where he can feel needed (until the govt comes calling again). I think part of it was that Buffy was changing, maturing and discovering herself alot in season 5 where as Riley was standing still, essentially void of his own personal progress and bemoaning the widening divide btn him and his girlfriend. In the episode before Riley leaves, Giles throws out a line about exploring further into the woods. I think this is what Riley has to do in 'Into the Woods'; explore his purpose, find his own mission again.

Gotta go with Warren, though Kennedy would definitely be a close second.

I'm going to say Kennedy also. I never got why Willow was so into her. She didn't even seem like her type at all, compared to Tara.

Willow was only ever with one woman prior to Kennedy and now that equates to having a "type"? Man, these excuses just keep getting lamer all the time... (If Willow has a "type", it would seem to be made up mostly of people who actually show an interest in her - which Oz, Tara, and Kennedy all did.)

I'm rewatching Buffy right now, and I'm in the middle of season 5 so far. Rewatching the Riley scenes really made me dislike him a LOT. I was even annoyed by him in season 4. I don't hate the character, but there are a lot of parts that really annoy me. Especially when Joyce is sick and he's upset because he's not getting enough attention from her, and that he can't be the dominant person in their relationship. Hello?! Her mother is extremely sick and all he cares about is himself and why he's not getting attention from Buffy? Wtf?
I also am not a fan of Andrew either (I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I'll have to see if rewatching the seasons changes my mind about him). I don't think that rewatching the seasons will change my viewpoint on Rona though, lol.
Who in the world voted for Buffy? Weird...
