Yeah, can't say I see it... it's in my top three favourites, up there with Season 5 and Season 2. (In fact, the only two seasons where the writing left something to be desired, in my eyes, were Season 1 and Season 7. Season 4 may have had a lousy arc, but its standalones were incredible, and the writing was as witty and effective as always.)

Marti Noxon? Nnnnnnnno.
Interviewer: Okay, now some Buffy questions... You started off as a writer and then you became a showrunner at the beginning of Season 6... Marti Noxon: Yeah, I got promoted to an executive producer and the reality is I was already doing a lot of stuff that I did on Season 6 before, but I got credit for it. And people also thought that meant Joss wasn't around and that just wasn't the case. He was very much around. (2007)
David Fury: For those who doubt, I'm here to say Joss is every bit around. Every day. The ship is still being steered by him, so quit speculating otherwise. (2002)
Interviewer: When you visit the Internet, are you shocked how little fans know about this process? Joss Whedon: Sometimes it's a little dispiriting when you see, "Well, Joss had nothing to do with that." Well, there's nothing that goes on screen that I had nothing to do with. (2005)
James Marsters: Then there was the idea to team Buffy and Spike, and that started in Season 5 and really culminated in Season 6. I had the idea that Spike should fall in love with Buffy because I thought, in my head, the chip was maybe not the strongest choice. I thought it'd be more interesting if he had a real psychological reason to want to reform, to watch the guy have to choose to be good and how frustrating that could be. I never thought Buffy should reciprocate. I just thought she should torture him the whole time, and I expressed that to Joss. He kind of winked and said, "Well, you know, I'm writing the show and I have something a little more interesting than that". So, then he became the heartfelt love interest. (2003)
Joss Whedon: Just wanted to say thanks for watching, y'all come back, etc... also, I read occasionally that people haven't been as happy with this year (actually, I hear that every year), show's not the same... not from eveeryone, but it comes up, and I just wanna say this: Dis not th' Nox. Say not that I'm not into it, Marti's not getting it done, anything of that sort... Fact is, I'm in this show up to my neck always. Same with Angel and yup, Firefly too. And I've read that I've blown off one for the other -- He's over Buffy, Firefly is just a contractual obligation, he didn't even CREATE the Rockford Files, why's he taking credit for it... I've heard it all. And it ain't necessarily so. (2002)
Interviewer: Was there anything that you wrote that you turned in to Joss and he's like "no, no, no"? Steven S. DeKnight: Oh, of course! I mean, it's that way with every script. You'll hand in a script, and, you know, you get some stuff right, you get some stuff wrong. Depending on the script, you will get a lot of notes, or a few notes. I got a lot of notes on [Seeing Red], 'cause I was having a real hard time keying into what he wanted. (2002)
Joss Whedon: How sick am I of Noxon-bashing? Enough to break my rule of silence, certainly. I've had so many people rag on her for aspects of the show I developed, or praise me for things she came up with. She's been a vital part of everything people love about Buffy since she overhauled the Halloween script in Season 2. She's as good a story-breaker as I've ever worked with. And she's a leader. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, Vmars. You are uninformed and rude. That's mine. (2006?)

Yeah, on Whedonesque. I haven't saved the date, though, for some reason.

That's so awesome that you have this collection of quotes and stuff dating back to God knows when. Pretty much means you can win ANY fan debate, as you'd have the stuff to back it up!

It depends; I just save whatever catches my eye, or whatever I'm interested in. (And I actually had a few more on this subject, but didn't want to go overboard. *g*)

Yeah, on Whedonesque. I haven't saved the date, though, for some reason. Oh, how I remember that day. I remember the link that was posted was about Marti Noxen joining Grey's Anatomy, and one of the first posts was that girl saying Grey's Anatomy is now going to suck and rest in peace blah, blah, blah. So anyways, Joss posted that response probably in less than hour. The poster was banned and then went on the Buffy IMDb boards bragging about how she "pissed of Joss Whedon" and is still there bragging about it sometimes. The girl was having a ball.

Didn't know that. Huh. (When Marti joined Grey's... so I did get the date right. )

Joss Whedon: Inevitably everyone has a favourite. People who are really depressing like Season 6 as much as I did. Hee! Lol!

I love painfully sad things often (I am Legend = awesome).... ... but I still hate season 6. I know a lot of people don't see it but I always notice a huge decline in quality watching that season. I saw it too.I felt that, while every episode had good moments, the writing felt weak to me(with the execption of OMWF,Tabula Rasa,Normal Again, and the last 3 episodes)

You thought the writing was weak in, like, Seeing Red? Or Dead Things (which is DeKnight's favourite out of all the Buffy and Angel episodes he's written)? Or After Life (which has Espenson's favourite scene out of all the episodes she's written)? Or Entropy? I could go on and on...
Different strokes, I guess.
