I don't remember whom I voted for, but the deaths that affected me the most were Joyce's (which is what it was designed to do), Spike's (since I was the only person in the universe who didn't know he'd be on Angel), and Buffy's (part of the reason The Gift is my absolute favourite episode).

That was just too sad, but not as sad as the demon with the Big Gulp in the sewer. "Hellooo...? Who's there, please?" Ugh, I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

That was just too sad, but not as sad as the demon with the Big Gulp in the sewer. "Hellooo...? Who's there, please?" Ugh, I'm tearing up just thinking about it. That was sad, too, but Merl... I knew about all the major deaths (Tara, Joyce, Anya) ahead of time, so they didn't affect me as much as they probably should have, but I never saw Merl coming. "Hey, did they just kill Merl? They did! They just killed Merl!!"

I chose Joyce due to the way the ep. The Body was done.
Fred would have been my first choice due to Amy's performance, but she wasn't on the list

Mine is Buffy Anne Summers because when she died, i cried! She was so awesome. Also, seeing Spike cry, that was weird! Buffy was the main character, the best character! And when thought she died for real, i cried my guts out! And that was it for me, i was so mad more sad though LOL!

Cordelia, hands down. Was spoiled for it and heard that Joss Whedon wrote the scene himself. I figured Lindsey was going to stab Cordy and that she and Angel would start blubbering all over each other in the usual melodramatic Whedon fashion(while I roll my eyes and make the air-staking-hand-motion-from-Hush), but it didn't happen. Instead I got something really poignant, understated, and genuinely heartfelt. It killed me. Probably the best acting i've seen from Charisma and David to boot.

I chose Buffy because it was the only death that made me cry. I think the way that episode was written was really good. The way Buffy's friends and family reacted to her body was just so incredible. I think Spike falling down and crying is what hit me the hardest.

Since Fred wasn't an option I went with Joyce...it was unexpected...yeah she had a tumor but we were made to believe that everything was ok then all of the sudden Buffy finds her dead at the end of a *filler* episode.
"The Body" leaves me numb after I watch it.

I chose Joyce. It reminded me so much of when my father passed away. The episode also helped me through the pain and frustration.
Tara and Buffy (in "The Gift") also affected me as well. Tara's was extremely gut wrenching.

Probably Joyce. I cried, and I don't usually cry when watching television shows (then again, I cried over Jenny, and Doyle as well... Joss Whedon just has that effect, y'know?)
Fred and Tara were really hard as well.

I totally change mine. Last night I watched Fred die. I was in tears. Her last few minutes were so heart breaking, what she said. Like to let her parents know that she was not scared when she died. And this was the most tear part..."Wesley, why can't I stay?"
And now I see Fred is not here...xD Oh, well, Fred is mine!

If I were to rewatch the seasons again, it would probably be Fred, even if she returns permanently in After the fall, because her death scene was so moving and horrible. But since I watched Angel die first, that is the death that moved me the most. The look in his eyes when he realizes that Buffy won't save him. It makes me want to die.

I think Buffy's death in "The Gift" touched me in a way the other deaths did not. Sarah really deserved awards for her performance in that episode. Joss' writing was perfect. Saying that, the way Tara's death affected Willow really saddened me, not so much when she was on her war path but in "Help" when Willow goes to visit her grave. That would have to be one of the most touching scenes in either series. Cordelia's and Fred's deaths were equally heartbreaking. It was those episodes that made Angel season five one of the best seasons of any television show. Basically read my mind there. I went with Buffy because The Gift was definitely one of those very defining moments for the character, and one of Sarah's finest moments as well. The expression on her face as she realizes what she must do, is quite haunting. I almost gave Tara the vote, and I normally would've. I also think the saddest moment of Tara's death is actually Willow's grave visit, but the "Your shirt-" line is just disturbingly sad. Fred and Joyce's deaths would come at a close third and fourth, respectively.

Buffy, she sacrificed her self to save the world.
The way it was shot and edited was beautiful.

Joyce
The episode makes me cry EVERY time!
"mom? mom?...mommy?"
"and I was having fruit punch and I though well Joyce will never have fruit punch, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair and nobody will tell me why"
"Why can't I dress like a grown up, can't I be a grown up?!"
"We're not supposed to move the body!!!"
"Where'd she go?"
These line make me weep everytime I hear them, I'm tearing up just writing them lol

I had to go with Buffy. It was just really touching with the speech and the music and everyone looking at her after she had fell from the tower. Tara's would have been more moving if she actually had a funeral, alll we got to see was Willow visiting the grave later on in season 7.

Tara's death made me happiest, I hated her so much, so so much. On the other hand if it was a choice here it would've been Fred, followed by Wes, and last Spike because he went out like a champ and ruled all only to come back and kick even more ass
