I don't like the whole bleeping curse words thing. If they can't say 'em, don't use 'em. On the show, they didn't go South Park and make with the bleeps.

Actually, they did on at least one occasion. When Willow calls Xander (or was it Angel? I'm pretty sure it was Xander) a name, they censored it with really loud traffic or something. Buffy's reaction is something along the lines of "Willow, you kiss your mother with that mouth?" So yeah, at least just that time, but at least the bleep was incidental, rather than textual.

Yeah, they actually do that a lot. I can think of a bunch of "Oh shi-" and Buffy's "What the f-" in Life Serial.

Finally got my issue #22. I have to say I like it way more that issues 21 and 20.
The chemistry with Kennedy and Satsu is great, the beginning was funny, and Satsu's speech when she was possessed was priceless! The little vamp-cats are so cool, I loved their homophobia and their comments about Slayers! Also loved how they called each other brother, and were all strong and tough in the battle.. so cute!
The part that loved the most was the fact that Swell raised the right questions about Slayer army and what right they have to say who is evil and who is not! I hope that keeps up in the season, and that in the end we get some sort of closure on the " did Buffy did a good thing by making all Potentials into Slayers".
The only part I HATED was the missile!!! Can u say over the top!?! I know they don't have a budget but they don't have to go all crazy!! Whats next: space ships?!?

Whats next: space ships?!? Kinda already done with Gunther in his flying car with lasers. I know, not quite spaceships, but Gunther looks enough like an alien that I thought of it when you said "spaceships".

I wish he was a part of Buffy's timeline so we could see more of him.

I'm just afraid that, if they keep this up, the season 9 is gonna sound like "alien mega super elves with magic laser guns are the big bad"

witcher: Why go otherworldly when there's so much badness to fight here on Buffyverse Earth itself? Wyndam: I miss the "mer-sleaze" myself, but he is better suited in the Mel timeline. Lest Joss be accused of promoting the tree-hugger agenda by bringing the radies to the current season.

Definitely agree there, I just meant that I thought Gunther was a good enough character to be a part of the main series all along, but he definitely belongs where he is currently.

I think that the swell was great and it was very similar to Smile Time but I feel that the outrageous humor worked well that once in the one season of Angel and its been used numerous times in S8. They need to tone it down and make the tone of the story more serious.

I finally read this issue and well...being that I could care less about Satsu and even less about Kennedy (why can't she just die already?) I pretty much rank this issue slightly above "Disaster Movie" but just below "Epic Movie"...so yeah Seriously we need some solid progression and some more core group interaction....while Angel ATF has been epic and tear wrenching for the past few months buffy has been dull and well....just bleh. I have to wonder if Buffy is actually a vampire because she is sucking an awful lot lately.

I agree that Buffy season 8 is kind of blah sometimes but I believe they have good things in store for us. I have faith.

You do? Better let her go before she kicks your butt. You're from Boston, you know how those Southie girls can be.

This is from Scott Allie's last round of answers in the latest Q&A: Well, since that thread's closed, I'll use this one to throw out some suggestions. Xi told me that apparently it's a big controversy over at Whedonesque, too, and I don't really get why. Honestly, I don't think the level of specialized knowledge or training needed for this particular mission is much different than what your uncle needs to be able to take his 40-footer out on the Bay for an afternoon of fishing. First, they'd need someone to work the engines. Assuming it's diesel-powered and not nuclear-powered (it's Korean, and I believe only the Americans and Russians operate nukes), that could be any Kaylee-esque girl with a background in mechanical know-how. Maybe one who's father owned a garage, who grew up helping him fix cars, or a farmgirl who's been tinkering with tractors all her life. Next they'd need someone to work the dive-planes, which control up-and-down movement while submerged. This is basically a steering-wheel that you push forward to go down, and pull back on to go up. Not too hard to get the hang of. Same goes for the rudder, which controls direction: turn it left to go left, and right to go right. A navigator would be helpful, but any modern military ship or sub is probably going to be GPS-equipped, and all they'd need is someone who could look at a computer screen and say "Here we are". Of course, they've gotta eat, and would need a cook, but I'd assume there's at least one or two girls in the squad who can cook. They'd need torpedomen, who know how to load and fire torpedoes. Not really rocket science. They're on a loading tray that lifts up to the torpedo tube. You slide 'em off the tray into the tube, close the door behind 'em, lock it shut, and push a button that fires them. And obviously a captain, to direct everyone and tell them what they're supposed to do. But for the purposes of this mission, that's not someone who's gonna need a deep knowledge of submarines and military tactics and what to do if someone launches torpedoes at them or drops depth charges on them. Pretty much any girl that Satsu trusts in a leadership position would've worked in this case. And if there's any gaps in their knowledge, where they just don't have anyone qualified for any of these roles, they could always hire civilians to fill them. We only saw the sub's control center, so that's no way of knowing if there might not be 10 former members of the Japanese navy roaming the passages, making sure everything works... :smart:

You know, with all the problems I had with this story, the whole Slayers-piloting-submarine thing never even occurred to me. I guess I just put it down to the fact that they're heroes, and they just do heroic and hyper-capable things. Satsu is obviously a brilliant leader who knows how to make stuff happen.
