Nah i get what you mean. The Dr Who monsters and such arnt anywhere near as good as the Buffy ones where. I think its because its not a world wide show it doesn't get much money, but with Buffy being a world wide show it got quite a bit of money packed away for the monsters.
Zomg i cant wait for this Ripper thing to happen i hope its not going to be like the other Spin-off hopes that get dropped.

Well this is definately the best spin off news we've had since the launch of Angel... The expansion of the buffyverse, oh yeah

I just mean that the budget for buffy is much more than Doctor Who and that I hope it keeps to the standards of Buffy... I know the whole idea of Doctor Who is that they haven't got a huge budget and that the monsters look fake and the special effects aren't that great...sorry if this offended fans of the show Hi Bennyboi, Ha ha ha, the fake looking monsters are part of the charm of Doctor Who but Buffy is a whole other ball game. I really hope they bring the US production values to Ripper, but I also hope they have some special English charm as well, but it would be awful if it was cheap looking cos I bet the BBC doesn't have the same budgets as the big US networks.

Hopefully, well i mean do you think that mutant enemy and Fox would be a part of this... i mean this is where they'd get the most money from.

Yeah, it would be great if it was a BBC joint production with a US TV company. The BBC do that a lot, cos it helps them sell their productions abroad, which is how they make money

You guys are talking about the original doctor who right? Because the 2005 series is every bit as good as buffy, well in terms of special effects / monster costumes at least.

Sorry to be a pesk, (no pun intended and no offense neither) but i don't believe the costumes/ monster makeup can equal to the standards of buffy. They look rather cartoon like and the special effects are no way as good. I'm probably gonna get an ass whooping from all those doctor who fans out there!!! Sorry...

Call it British pride - I'm not even a big Doctor Who fan - but I think anyone who complains about the cartoonish element of Doctor Who is missing the point; it's supposed to be silly, and camp, and heightened. Unlike Buffy, it has a fairly hefty legacy of utterly ludicrous villains and men in rubber suits to pay homage to within the show. I'm not a big fan of the ammount of CGI they use in the show, but it's important to remember that The Doctor travels through time; the only set that they really get any use out of is the inside of the TARDIS, so a lot of it has to be created on the fly. I think they do a fairly good job of it, all told.
Also, I think people remember what they choose to remember; yes, the production values on Buffy were of a very high standards, but there were more than a few doozers that made up for them. Praying Mantis Lady? That three-headed dragon thing in Forever? 'Oh My Goddess' Willow, with her Dollar Tree Cher wig?
It's not about the effects, it's about the charm.
Back on topic, I'll believe it when I see it; or, at least, when I see the previews. I think we've been promised Ripper at least once every six months since the series shut down, and it's yet to materialise, so I don't want to get my hopes up.

I would love to see a Ripper Movie. Hopefully they will bring in American standards in it and I really doubt that they wouldn't have the Ripper movie not have it look like Buffy and Angel would. I seriously can't wait!

Hey! No ripping on Willow's Goddess moment! That was a beautiful, classic moment and it didn't look like a wig. I like the Goddess moment! I think the ghastly wig made it exactly as cheesey as it had to be. You can see the join! Wig! Evil Willow would probably be a better example, though; again, wigilicious, but the impressive budget pretty much extends to a suitably spooky jacket and a couple of veins drawn on her face with eyeliner. Buffy was never Lord of the Rings; it was never meant to be. MB x

Sarah should be gracious and at least cameo in it. I'm not saying that she wouldn't be a famous actress without Buffy... Wait, actually I am. Buffy made Sarah. And now she's had 4 years to make movies and it's time she pays her respects to the tv show that gave her a career. I think David should save himself for the Spike movie.
