Buffy/Riley paved the way for Buffy/Spike in a very necessary way. He was her attempt to be "a normal girl," something she's always craved. But I think Riley's exit from the show was far too long and drawn-out. I mean, we had to listen to Riley whine about how emasculated and useless Buffy made him feel for, like, five episodes? It really does get a bit hilariously pathetic. And I say this as a massive, rabid Spike fan--so you can tell I have some admiration for pathetic-types. But Riley never had a shot in hell, he knew it, and he needed to leave waaaaaaaay sooner.

People would have more then likely said he was a bad actor such. I liked the character Riley. I don't see why people hated him. What did he do that was so wrong? I couldn't stand Riley. It wasn't Marc it was his character. The character was boring, dull, and no charisma. Hell I cheered the episode he left in Season 5. I was like thank god he's gone.
