So how do you guys think the show would have played out for these characters if Xander had turned out gay and not Willow?

I'm glad that it was Willow that they chose to be gay.It gave us Tara,which is a character that I loved.
I think that it could have been intresting to have it have Xander be gay,but with the characters as they are now,I'd have a hard time seeing them any other way

im glad willow was the gay one without willow being gay we would have never got tara! and if xander was gay there would be no anya!! she would have had no reason to come back i think its pretty obvious that alot of things would be different but i myself am glad they worked out the way they did  |

Yet hilarious. I heard Joss say in an interview that if Oz had stayed on the show he would have been the one to die, not Tara. I'm actually kinda glad that Oz left because then we would have never had Tara. Although I really wish that Oz had come back in season 7 so we didn't have to see the horror that was Willow/Kennedy.... I don't think Willow is completely gay. I think she and Oz will always have the attraction to each other, even though Oz is a guy. Their last moments together in New Moon Rising still gives me hope that there will be some Oz/Willow love in the future. |

That's got me wondering which scenes suggested Xander might be gay? I guess I should watch the first few seasons now. Anyone remember anything specific?

Personnally I think there was NOTHING gay about Xander and Willow in the first three seasons of the show. Except a few funny scenes such as Xander/Larry and Vamp Willow but other than that nothing. It turned out that Oz left the show and there was room for a lesbian relationship, the same way there could have been room for male gay relationship with Xander if Anya had left. Plus I don't think Willow is really gay, she's just bi. She decided to open up to something new. Honestly I can't really picture Xander being gay since he looks so manly but I guess it would have been a good thing to have a male gay character who's not a cliché.
And stop saying you are glad that things have turned out to be that way because of Tara and Anya because who knows what we would have gotten if it had been the other way around. maybe other great characters??? Maybe even better characters?? And Anya could have sticked around.

Besides, IF they made Xander gay, I'm sure we would have never gotten such physical scenes with him like we did with Willow/Tara, Willow/Kennedy. |
