An interview done with Sarah for "Sky mag" where she talks about a little bit about Buffy and maybe a film?

Do People still remeber you for Buffy?

Oh, all the time. I have no problem with that, I loved playing that character. There's talk of a movie - but what if it was dissappointing?. It frightens me. You never know though. 'Never say never to anything' thats my motto.


I find it sad that she thinks it might be dissappointing, why dosnt she trust Joss?, although she mentions about "talk of a movie" which means if she knows about it then maybe it will become reality?

its from this month !!, so like 2 days old, If they ever do a movie it would have to be how they got to Scotland.

How could she not be a little worried?
Yeah its Joss but its alot more then just him theres the acting, the filming the money issues.

It would be a big blow if the film didnt do well.
Plus they would have to [for the fans that dont read the comics] re open the show and close it again. It would be a hard one to do.

To put it bluntly... if the movie talk became serious... what comic?... from many fans as well as Joss himself.

I understand SMG's fears that the movie won't go down well, but I don't think she's saying it as though she thinks it sucking would happen; just that she's highlighting the importance to her that it is a worthwhile revisiting of the world. I bet the fears wouldn't make her hesitate if the film was greenlit and scripted.

I wouldn't just throw the comics out the window, even if a movie was going to be made, but if it got to production, I could definitely overlook any plot inconsistances that were created. I don't know where her "talk" comes from though, unless she's referring to the rumors that are always out there.

I think Joss would find a way to make it work. Honestly, if there were to be a movie, I don't see why it can't be tied to the comic. Put this shit on film asap!!

I'd make it totally different adventure the Scoobies face. But during the time of the comics. Or maybe right before. I mean, I wouldn't mind if it didn't follow the continuity of the comics...it could just be, what would've happened after that on the show.

Or maybe follow the same storyline but just change some stuff around.

As much as I love the comics a movie would obviously be 10x more awesome.

It would be complicated to put in so many characters into a movie and not have the people that never watched the show confused.

This gets me excited! They're talking about actually making one. But to make it work we need SMG, Aly, Nicholas Brendon hands down. The next two I would try to get after that is Anthony, and Michelle. If we had those 5 playing Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, and Dawn, then Joss would have the potential to making a great film.

Not necessarily. Look at the X-Files.

I know Sarah has said before that she wanted to wait and see how the Sex and the City movie did (a HUGE hit) before she would consider a Buffy movie but I honestly think that the Success -or failure- of the new X-Files movie will be more telling.

Interesting interview. I think if it was going to happen, then first of all Joss needs to write a first draft of a script and see who acting and producing wise would be on board. I REALLY REALLY REALLY, can't stress it enough, REALLY hope that a movie happens at some point.

I don't think that if a movie were to be made that it would've happened already. I mean, look at SATC. It's been four years since that show went off, they made a movie, and it was a huge success. Even people who had never watched the show went to see it.

I agree that how The X-Files does this month will be a big tell-tale of how a future Buffy movie could do. It's been, what, six years since X-Files went off the air, and I think ten years since the last movie? That's almost a mirror image of Buffy's stats in those two categories. And whereas before, people avoided the film and the television show simply because the title sounded corny, now people know that Buffy is a cultural movement, a pop culture icon, and interest could definitely be drummed up from those who have never even watched the show. Especially since the stars of our verse have gone on to do such diverse and interesting things. Undoubtedly they would have some fans that would follow them anywhere.

I dont see why she would not trust Joss, well I do but its not as if she has been in great films anyway!. Its kind of sad that she cant trust Joss even though they did work together for 7 years !

And I would love to see this as a movie even if it means that the comics were forgotten about

I don't think it's that she doesn't trust Joss, just more that she has her worries and doesn't want to ruin something that was so great as is. I mean it does happen. You push something too far and it loses it's respect or the essential that made it so good. So I understand where she's coming from.
