Leona To Appear On American Idol & Deal Info!

For those of you who are British, Leona is going to be appearing on American Idol as a guest in the near future!

For you Americans, Leona is an AMAZING singer, who just won X Factor (like American Idol) over here in England. Simon has now got her a $10,000,000 (£5,000,000) record deal with Clive Davis! She's like a cross between Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey!

Last week she performed 'Summertime', 'Sorrys Seems To Be The Hardest Word' and 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' to three different record companies in America and she blew them away as they all agreed she's in the same league as Mariah and Whitney. Whitney herself even called Leona to tell her that her versions of I Will Always Love You and I Have Nothing were amazing! Leona is to make a minimum of FIVE albums in the USA and UK.

She preatty good but I think Kelly Clarkson sings "Without You" and "A Moment Like This" a little better. I found Leona to be a little boring and her personality didn't really shine through in her performances.

I dont like that version of Without You to be honest. I like Kelly, but Leona's voice is far superior. Didn't you listen to IWALY or Summertime?

I'm not really fond of Summertime (the song) but I think when Fantasia sang it on American Idol her voice suits the song better. I just find Leona boring to watch I'm sorry. I think if she was on American Idol she probably wouldn't win.

Meh, it could just be me but I don't think her voice is that amazing. It's definitely not on the same level as Whitney or Mariah and to me she always sound like she has a blocked up nose when she sings.

I wish her success but I think thus far, she's overrated.

I totally agree and she looks very stiff when she sings.

Well if Top American Music Executives have enough faith in her to give her a $10,000,000 deal, plan to make 5 albums with her and tell her that she is a cross between Mariah and Whitney themseleves and Whitney rang her up personally to tell her she was one of the best singers she's heard - then I think that means she's good.

And I'd rather listen to experts than two forum members personally.

True, but a star from the Australian TV Soap 'Neighbours' also just got a 5 album deal and with little vocal ability - so having a contract like that doesn't really mean anything.

I watched X-factor from the start and in my opinion she has an amazing voice. She sings I Will Always Love You amazingly, especially when she gets to the big oomph part of the song. I really hope that she does well for herself as she really is an amazing singer.

So many American Idol finalists were supposed to "the next big thing'" but their albums bombed, coming off a reality tv show is no ticket to instant success so theres no telling if she will be super popular or a just another one hit wonder!

Good, I'm glad you enjoyed her voice. I posted it to inform people that she would be on the show, if they chose to watch. I never said or implied that I didn't care about other peoples posts or opinions, I said I would rather listen to American music executives that two forum members, on the topic of whether or not she will be a success.

I love her voice. She has amazing talent. She is definatly one of the best voices to be around in a long while. Though I don't care much for her version of 'Over The Rainbow', I just don't really like how she sings that song.

I just read this thread over - and I think I need to say that I don't mean to sound so forceful about Leona. I didn't realise I was being like that, I think it's like with anything though, if you enjoy something - you want to spread that, just like with BtVS/AtS. So yeah, I'm a big Leona fan (as I am a Whitney/Mariah/Xtina/Beyonce fan) so I guess I just wanted you all to like her! Sorry

maybe it's the quality of youtube not doing her justice, because I don't like mariah or whitney and don't listen to that kind of music at all, but every episode of the x factor I saw, leona's voice would make me catch my breath, it was entrancing. I actually didn't like it when she did without you or IWALY because then it was like she was imitating and she's so much better than that.
