I actually took it as a semi-positive response...not bitter. To me, he is saying that it is what it is. Especially the part about Avengers. I thought he was saying that it is ok to use other peoples source material to frame your own story...maybe I was just being too glass half full lol I'd say the gist of his response is that he's kind of weirded out and maybe a bit miffed that they're rebooting his franchise despite it still being quite young, but is somewhat amused and accepting because that's just the way Hollywood is and he can't really do anything about it.

What fandom are you speaking of with the crappy remake? Avatar: The Last Airbender; the movie (The Last Airbender) that came out this summer got a 6% on Rotten Tomatoes... I don't think this reboot could be that bad, unless they cast Joss as Nuffy, or something.

Great, two-word cast response, courtesy of Emma Caulfield's Twitter:

I'm 100% in favor of NEW BUFFY STORIES, no matter by whom. I hope it kicks ass. Maybe that will shock some people out of this crazy idea that "only Joss can do it," as if he didn't put his pants on one leg at a time like everybody else. If we stifle creativity, then we will die as a fandom, and we deserve to.

This is of course a terrible idea. I have nothing agaisnt remakes or reboots. But to reboot somthing that still has an active fanbase is insane? Batman and Star trek are being brought up as examples of successful reboots but these two franchises were creatively drained YEARS before they were remade. Buffy only finished 7 years ago and on a relative high at that. This would be like remaking the X-files as a movie right now... Even the recent film version of that bombed....

It seems as though none of Buffy's cast like the idea of a reboot without Joss. I just logged onto twitter and saw Juliet Landau's response.
Here's J August Richard's response:
Here's Mark Lutz response (played Groosalugg on Angel):
Joss is also a trending topic. Most of the responses from fans are not in favor of this reboot.

Eliza Dushku wrote on Twitter 2 minutes ago...
"Lolz... "Buffy Reboot" & the internet is a-BUZZIN'!"
"ok, ok... u really wanna know what I think?"
"I think...."
"shoot, hold-up you guys, pizza man's at the door..."
"ok, hey, i'm back! pepperoni pineapple for those who asked"
C'mon Eliza get to the point...
"Alright, if you're asking what I think, tonight, my instincts say:"
"Joss made the "Buffster" & w/out him... I just don't trust the girl. Or the world."

Amber Benson tweets her thoughts: Apparently, they're rebooting 'Buffy' w/out Joss Whedon: I told him that asking to play the title role would frighten the Studio Execs.Someone asks her: Amber_benson IF you were invited back to play a role in the Buffy movie, would you do it?Reply: Well, @phoenix_Ranger, they asked me to play the penis montster from 'Double Meat Palace' in the reboot & I said that Tara doesn't do dick.
LOLZZZ!!!! I love her so much!

The Joss-less reboot idea is such a monstrosity. Cringes. It is doubly evil - because if it does not fail financially this will close the door on potential Joss-involved Buffyverse movies, but if it fails it will give the Buffy bad financial rep and will also close the door on any potential Joss-involved movie or new tv series. Horrible, horrible news.

This is most bad news...
They said that there is a fandom eager to see Buffy return, but don't they realise that most of the fandom are against the idea of a Whedonless Buffy? It's not good at all....

Oh God, really? They're still doing this? While, I'm boycotting this like I'm boycotting the Spider-Man reboot, for similar reasons. People are stupid

This news has ruined my day It'd be like when Ted saw the movie of his life and everything was wrong. And like when they made the Princess Diaries into a film when I was obsessed with those books... nothing about those films was right. Two small questions: -Why didn't Joss own the rights to Buffy and refuse to sell them? -Why did Dolly Parton own the rights to Buffy?

After the Avengers movie is a success in 2012, can't Joss then make a proper Buffy movie with the original cast?
And what are the reasons why they can't make a proper Buffy movie?
SMG isn't working now, so she's free apart from the fact that she's got a child who is now 1.
Aly's How i met you rmother should be ending soon and it looks like she'll be appearing in American Pie 4.
Eliza Dushku is pretty much free.
Can't we make a petition to stop this and make a real Buffy film with Joss and try to get SMG on board.
For some reason I doubt David will want to return.

Wait a minute. This might be a duh moment for me but in essence they really cant use any of the buffy we know and love. No sunnydale. NO Angel or spike or the scoobies. No hellmouths and definetly none of the mythos except general Slayer mythos can be used since none of the other stuff i named was in the original movie which is all they own the rights to right?
I'm not to worried. The show has always been better in my opinion. At the end of the day it'll just be a loosely connected entity like the first movie.

Yeah I think the plan is just to use the main character of Buffy, and keep the idea of her being the slayer and there being one in every generation. But other than that they're not keeping anything else that I know of.
