So my friend and i were talking about what would've happened if Xander was unable to revive Buffy in Prophecy Girl...
we made a hypothetical list. we came up with:
Kendra would be called (as normal) Angel wouldn't turn into Angelus Spike & Drusilla would come to town (as normal) Kendra would've died most likely from Spike or Drusilla Faith would be called (as normal) Xander and Cordelia wouldn't start dating Xander and Willow wouldn't hook up Willow wouldn't start practicing witchcraft Willow never would have met Tara Potentially, Oz could kill Willow after he killed Veruca Faith would still kill the deputy mayor Faith would still go to jail, leaving everyone Slayer-less No Spike Xander would never have met Anya Angel still moves to LA (as normal) Giles stayed on as Faith's watcher Wesley would never join the cast of Angel No DAWN! so that's a plus! So on and so forth...
but then we realized that The Master would have probably just killed Giles, Xander, Willow, Angel, Joyce and probably the rest of Sunnydale... and then we thought of a possible show where its everyone's a vampire...
for the record: I REALLY WANNA SEE VAMPIRE GILES!!!!!
what do y'all think would've happnend if Buffy stayed dead?

very interesting....on your list, a lot of stuff would have been better had she stayed dead, but i liked the way things played out in the show.
What if she'd stayed dead after The Gift? as Willow says in Anywhere But Here, she, Tara and Dawn would have moved somewhere nice and been a big happy family, Xander and Anya probably would have broken up still, but they may have had a chance to get back together, because Anya wouldn't have died. Warren would still be alive probably, or caught by the police.....i kinda like this version better....

Vampire Giles would be the best thing ever!!! I would love that to happen!!
Also Oz and Willow wouldn't have most likly have been together because Willow would have left Sunnydale for college she only stopped because of Buffy and helping really.

i honestly think that if Anya and Xander did meet, they would have definitely stayed together...
Lukee you're absolutely right, Willow absolutely would've gone to one of her fancy shmancy ivy league schools she was accepted into.

I disagree about Faith going homicidal. Buffy and the gang were the reason for her going completely rogue. She has consistently shown jealousy over the things Buffy has, and if Buffy were dead...Faith may have gotten the remnants of a gang that Buffy would have never had the chance to get.
With that said, Faith would have been killed easily by Kakistos upon his finding her in Sunnydale. Buffy gave Faith the courage to defeat him.
As always, all things through Buffy. Haha.

Yeah but she was going down hill before she came to Sunnydale so she still would of gone rouge but I doubt she would of killed the Deputy Mayor.

We may still have had a Dawn, but one made out of Faith! Imagine the whiny little sister being told to shut the hell up by a brassed-off Faith! Hah! I wanna see it!

"What ifs" are the mainstay of all AU fiction and of course all RPGs. You are right that Willow would not have met Tara or even Oz for that matter cos it was gaining more confidence through Buffy that she was able to ask Oz out. So for many reasons I'm glad she didn't die at the end of season 1.
End of season 5 though is a different matter. I think if Buffy had remained dead after season 5 there is a good chance that the Scoobies would have done their best to keep the demons and vampires at bay until they got in with their own lives and that could have, from a programme point of view, given more thna few spi-off ideas. And given what happened in Season 6 & 7, and how much those seasons suck, Buffy as a show as well as a character would have been better left in the ground a tthe end of season 5.

EWR: Kendra couldn't deal with just Drusilla when Buffy was actually alive - I don't see her lasting long on her own.

Yeah but then Spike would be at full strength and I think he'd have no time polishing off Kendra.

This is a pretty interesting list, Alex. Thanks for the topic suggestion:)
Kendra definitely would've died, even if Dru didn't get restored to full health. She wasn't as resourceful, etc, as Buffy was. Spike probably would've taken her out, if the Master didn't beforehand. I'm presuming that Faith would've gotten called as well, as perhaps somewhere there is a list that just has a name of Slayers in a certain order? Just an assumption.
Would Wesley have even been called as a Watcher, if Giles took over Faith's watching? That means no Wes anywhere, and a severe hindrance to the cast of Angel. Pretty much everyone in Sunnydale would've died, and it would've been interesting to see who else would've gotten turned, besides Xander & Willow(if we're going by the logic in "The Wish"). Giles as a vampire would've been an extremely hard fellow to fight, and I can see him being more resourceful and cunning than the Master. *Side note- Read the Lost Slayer series. It's awesome, but incredibly sad at some parts, knowing about evil vamp Giles.
Aaaaand...having Dawn made out of Faith would've been really funny. Dawn was technically made out of the Slayer, but which one? There could logically still be parts of Faith in Dawn, perhaps that's why she's so dang sassy.

Let's see. If Buffy had really died in "Prophecy Girl", then the Master would have eventually carried out his Master plan. The Hellmouth would be open for business, vampires and demons running amok, a lot of people would have left Sunnydale. I reckon some would have stayed, but at night the town would be a hell-hole. It would be like a cross between the opening of "Bargaining" crossed with "The Wish". I don't think it would have miraculously gotten better, either. Angel would be dead. The Master kept him as a slave in the alternate universe, so if Angel didn't fly the coop when Buffy died, then my guess is that he would have killed him in reality. I don't think the Master would have had Angelus brought back. Didn't Angelus and the Master have some personal friction issues? Or did I imagine that tidbit? Darla would be alive, as would Drusilla, and Spike, and they'd probably all still be together. You know what they say. The family that eats together and sleeps together... I imagine the repercussions of Buffy's death, and the subsequent rising of the Master, and opening of the Hellmouth, would have changed Kendra's purpose as well. Instead of going to Sunnydale on a mission, she would probably have been sent there to control the Hellmouth. If Giles wasn't alive now, her watcher might have accompanied her. I kind of think, though, that there would be some kind of a quasi-resistance front a la "The Wish", with Giles leading it up. If Kendra makes contact with Giles and his group, then she and her watcher would probably be permanent additions to the group. Who knows, after a few years and a small army, they might actually succeed and get to the Master and kill him, and close the Hellmouth, and make it safe for people to live there again. Well... "safe" is a relative term. If Kendra had died, though, then Faith would be called. Again, the whole "the Master's awake and has control of the Hellmouth!" news might have changed how things happened in Boston, too. I still think the watcher would die at the hands of Kakistos, but I think Faith would have run away and not gone to California. She probably would have fled into areas she was familiar with, so she probably would've stayed in New England somewhere. Probably still on the streets, but at night, knowing her back then? She would have holed up behind bomb-proof walls and prayed to god for morning to come. I imagine that would only last for so long, though, until the Council found her. No doubt they would have also taken out Kakistos in the process. Faith would have a watcher, and been involved with the Council, who probably would have tried to extensively rehabilitate her and train her, with the goal of having her go to Sunnydale, hook up with the rogue resistance group, and take out the Master. My guess is they would be successful. I'm sure Wolfram & Hart would have entered in the picture somewhere... it's in their interest to maintain a balance, not let hell reign on earth. Still a purely evil organization at this time, though. Still, their interests are served better when they have control over what's happening. Hey, maybe they would have resurrected Buffy. ETA: Almost forgot! If Buffy stayed dead after "The Gift", then... they would have had Buffybot indefinitely, and hopefully, that equates to them being "safe" for a while. The news of Buffy's death is what paved the way for the demons to come to Sunnydale and wreak havoc. The Scoobies were really good at keeping her death mum for several months because they had a secret burial service, the headstone was hidden, and they had Buffybot. So if Buffy stayed dead, the Buffybot kept working, then everything would be probably okay for a while. Dawn would grow up and finish high school and maybe even Buffybot would take her up to college in Berkeley. Willow and Tara would be together, because Willow's addiction to magic would never have happened. They'd probably be married by now. If Buffy stayed dead after she was shot at the end of Season 6... my jury's still out on that one. I think Xander still could have given her the yellow crayon talk, and Giles still could have come back from jolly old England with the super magics to stop her. However, if Buffy not being there caused Xander to confront Willow earlier, and not give her yellow crayons, she might have wasted him. Which means she would have raised the temple and destroyed the world.

But I reckon a lot of Faith's selfishness was down to her having to look after number one when younger. Given someone to look after, and without the Mayor's influence, i reckon Faith would have stepped up. Would have taken some prodding to get over her own innate insecurities, but after that I reckon she would have been a great protector and when push came to shove, she would have died for Dawn.

I don't think it would be quite as clear-cut as in The Wish, where clearly Willow and Xander would be taken completely by surprise by the existence of vamps and would get turned that first night. By the end of Season 1, they are totally in the game. I think you'd be more likely to get a situation where Giles, Xander and Willow would be white-hats for a short time, before teaming up with the future Slayers as and when they arrived.
