I don't seperate the shows. I watch them both together and where one falters, the other makes up for it. Two shows, one verse. But...

I hated Angel season 5 because it was so boring !! lol i thought the finale was rushed Buffy finale was way better lolz

Thats why i didnt get it when spike didnt vs hamligton because spike is way stronger then angel.....That why i like angel season 5 for because Spike kicks his ass and its his own show HAHAHAHAHAH.... Spike is not stronger than Angel. Thought I might clarify that. The reason why Spike was able to beat Angel for the first time in 100 years is because he wanted the prize more. Angel was feeling a lot of doubt at that time and he wasn't as interested in being a hero as much as Spike really. Not that Spike was interested in being a hero, he just wanted to take something away from Angel. Also, during that fight, we've seen Angel beat the crap out of Spike. Spike simply had the upper hand most of the fight Least Buffy is way stronger then spike ...... Like Angel, Spike was playing second fiddle to Buffy. When he was just a guest, Spike was able to match Buffy blow for blow and even had an edge (School Hard, Harsh Day). Definitley Buffy! I always felt there was better storytelling, villians, and character developement with Buffy. With Angel, really the only season I really really loved was season five, the rest of the Angel series was just blah, unless say Buffy / Willow / or Faith happened to be in the episode. I also never thought there were any real good villians in Angel either. Well, except for Illaryia, but eventually she went good. Anyway, I always felt the message of Buffy, female empowerment, was beyond more powerful than the message or theme I should say of Angel was.

Spike was able to battle Buffy in 'WML part 2'. The whole wheelchair thing was because he had a pipe organ dropped on him while he was retreating with Drusilla. In 'Harsh Day', he was flogging Buffy all over the place. She only won in the end because Spike, being Spike, opened his big mouth (something I find a little annoying that Buffy would be losing a fight, then suddenly wins cuz she's a little ticked off). Then, they didn't fight again until 'Smashed', where, yes, Buffy did have the upper hand there. But I don't think Spike was really trying. He was just glad he could hit her and not hurt himself. Also, may I mention that Spike is one of the most powerful and deadly vampires around. He's killed two Slayers single-handedly in combat. Another thing that annoyed me was how Spike's abilities were downgraded when he became a regular. But that said, I think Spike has proved he's capable of battling Buffy and holding his own. Also, I don't know exactly what the whole thing was with Olaf's hammer, but I don't think that should used as an example that Buffy is stronger than Spike. As the Slayer, she's meant to be stronger than vampires. Even Angel has stated that And that brings me to the whole Angel & Spike thing in 'Destiny'. At the end, Angel stated that Spike wanted the Cup more. It was his motivation to defeat Angel. Otherwise, Angel is able to beat Spike in a fight. He's done it many times. Just because Spike beat him once doesn't mean that Spike is stronger than Angel. Angel was doubting himself over his role as a hero now that he had taken over Wolfram & Hart. It was not a fight, but in Out of My Mind, Spike simply grabbed Buffy's hands and was going for the neck!! Only the chip saved Buffy.
As for Spike's diminished powers..maybe has something to do with him eating only pig's blood. In Not Fade Away, Angel bites Hamilton first and afterward killed him.

Also, I don't know exactly what the whole thing was with Olaf's hammer, but I don't think that should used as an example that Buffy is stronger than Spike. That's simply ridiculous! This is possibly the only objective way to test their strength! Let's face it - the fact that Spike is unable to lift an object that Buffy easily lifts with one hand is pretty clear evidence that her physical strength is greater. When it comes down to fights, we have seen Buffy and Spike best one another at various different times, because fighting is not only about strength - wits, mentality, location, stamina and much more also have a lot to say. In harsh day of light spike nearly got killed by Buffy but spike had the gem of Amara, see how fast she did it because she used her speed to kill spike, it was like 2 seconds in the fight when Buffy stake him but Spike used the gem to make him invincible this concludes my argument . ‘Smashed’ he did not hold back because he is the one who started the fight in the first place. And in the gift when spike versed the doc he totally got kick by an old granddad but Buffy simply threw him of the the dive in board, and in season 7 she knocked spike out with a kick in the head in the bedroom. Gives me to Angel vs. Buffy because she had almost all the time had the upper hand with Angel in season 2...And she sent him to hell. And you recall Angel stronger then Spike. And Angel even admitted Buffy stronger then himself... If Angel didn’t what the cup why did he attend to fight spike why not walk out the room or something! Do you get my point...? , |

I so remember now , when Buffy stake him in like 2 seconds , so he would be dead if he didn't have the gem of something lol  . But it's not the point of this discussion it Buffy vs Angel ( TV SHOWS ) not Buffy vs Spike and Angel. MMMMMMMMM I should make a forums discussion about this lol |

Angel is a bit stronger than Spike. Buffy is stronger than both.
The only point of reference to say Spike is a better fighter than Angel is "Destiny", but that episode is entirely about Angel feeling lost and unmotivated. It's said in that episode that it's the first time Angel lost to Spike, and as quick as 3 episodes later Angel is back to manhandling him all over the place. Hell in that fight itself there's a moment or two where Angel completely overpowers Spike.

I like both Buffy and Angel. There are some seasons or episodes of Buffy that I like better than Angel. I have seen Buffy 1-7 twice, and single seasons alot more than that. However, I have only seen Angel 1-5 once. So I think I have to go through it another time before I can truly decide. As of right now I like Buffy better, But not by a huge amount.

On Buffy vs Angel, clearly Buffy. Angel was never that intrested in fighting. They also made him a lot more stronger when he got his own show. And in season2, all the Buffy/Angelus fights were won by Buffy, Angelus was allowed to run away simply because Buffy wasn't ready to dust him and not because he was a better fighter. Angel is a bit stronger than Spike. Buffy is stronger than both. The only point of reference to say Spike is a better fighter than Angel is "Destiny", but that episode is entirely about Angel feeling lost and unmotivated. It's said in that episode that it's the first time Angel lost to Spike, and as quick as 3 episodes later Angel is back to manhandling him all over the place. Hell in that fight itself there's a moment or two where Angel completely overpowers Spike. There is nothing that suggest that Angel is physicaly stronger then Spike. I doubt that all vampires gain the same amount of strength from age, every individual is different. Destiny was their first real fight since a 100y ago when Spike was barely a fledge. All those excuses are invalid, Spike won the end. He didn't win by cheating or finishing the fight quickly. He challenged Angel on every ground(unarmed/armed/mentally,ect) and won. Every fighter has a bad day but the greatest of fighters can rise above it. Like how Buffy did in season2, she was emotionally destroyed yet she defeated Angelus almost everytime. Regardless if Angel felt lost or not, he still lost to a superior fighter. Spike has only had two passions in his life, love and fighting. And his passion for fighting would make any real-life fighter,martial artist envious. Unlike with Buffy who was forced to fight,kill because it's her birthright, same with Angel, the chosen champion of the PTB, Spike willingly fought time and time again because he wanted to and loves it. Also both vamps were infamous for their own brand of evil, Angelus because of his torture,skills in completely destroying a person. While Spike was known as the legendary dark warrior. The rest of season 5 brings Spike and Angel back on equal ground, he manhandeld Angel just as much as he does him. And Spike was also the only one that succefully fought a fully powered Illyria, Angel was not even able to land a single punch without the stone from her coffin. Even so i doubt that they would make Spike a better fighter on Angel's show. Now however is a different matter, with his own upcoming series they could unlock his full potential, not forced to being second fiddle to either Buffy or Angel. |

Agree with you . I think Spike is stronger then Angel to , come on he got kick in by Spike in his own show ! lol  and if everbody making the excuse that Angel just let him win the cup , but the matter of fact he didn't let Spike win becuase if he didn't wanted the cup that much he should just walk out of the room or something ( LIKE WANT RYONIZDABEST SAID ^^^^ ) I know Spike actually Blocked some moves on Illyria then punched in the face lol that was funny lol ! just imagine want Buffy can do to Illyria !! when she so pissed of lol :)becuase she uses her emotion aswell as creativity < (mind my spelling) |

Massive Buffy fan, never thought anything could EVER top it, until I began watching Angel not long ago.
I think it's a lot more structured and has better plots in it.
I still think that Buffy is the most amazing show ever to hit television, but Angel is just so full of better things, comes a very, very close second.

As a newer viewer to BOTH shows, I have to say I have enjoyed Angel way way more than Buffy. Maybe it's simply David's enormous charm, I don't know, but Angel is a more interesting character to me and the stories on that show gave the actors a chance to show off their acting chops more than Buffy, IMO. I'm currently watching Season 6 of Buffy and I've fastforwarded through ALOT of stuff. The three moronic high school boys plot is completely ridiculous to me. And I still have yet to figure out why Spike wants to be with Buffy when she treats him like yesterday's garbage.
Anyway, for me, Angel is the better of the two shows. Even Season 5, which I seriously didn't like all that much, is better to me than any of the Buffy seasons.

Buffy is so much better than Angel. I found Angel pretty boring the first time around, although I'm enjoying it more the second time around. The first 3 seasons I had a hard time getting into. Season 1 really didn't have a lot of unity it felt like it was just a bunch of episodes slapped together. The later episodes are a lot better in that season. Season 2 the best part was Lorne. Finally a new character that isn't from Buffy. I think that is what I found most boring about the first season of Angel. Not enough new and interesting characters. The one they did have was Doyle and they killed him off after nine episodes. Season 3 Holtz was just stupid. I found him absolutely boring as an enemy. The last two season are awesome though. Season 4 was the first season where I was into it. I wanted to know what was going to happen. Evil Cordy was amazing. Angelus showing up was amazing. Willow showing up. Faith kicking Connor's ass  . SOOO good! Season 5 continued that good streak. The ending was great, so powerful. All in all though, Angel doesn't hold a candle to Buffy.I can honestly say that there isn't a single season I dislike of Buffy. There are just seasons I like better than others. 6 is my all time favorite. A lot of people find it depressing and it is in a lot of cases. Willow's spiral into magic, Tara's death, Spike's attempted rape, etc. Having said that, I feel this season is ultimately about love and the power of love. Spike went to get his soul, because he felt so bad about trying to rape Buffy and because he loved her. Willow went nuts because of her love for Tara. I would argue that Xander left Anya at the alter because of his love for her. He saw what marriage did to his parents and he didn't want that for them. Willow brought Buffy back because she loved her so much, even if it was misguided. A really powerful season about Love IMO. Season 5 is my 2nd favorite. I love season 5 because of Glory! She is absolutely amazing. She was the first villain that gave the scoobies a run for their money. She made me feel bad for Buffy. This season also just has some of the best episodes. The Family, Fool for Love, and The Body come to mind. Buffy's death at the end was just incredibly powerful. I love it! I would go on but I feel I'm rambling so I conclude it. Buffy just has everything for me. I was into every season and every episode. Angel just failed to do that. Not that I don't like Angel, but it is not as good as Buffy.
