The reason i like Buffy better because it come first and also the storyline were cool , like season 5 of Buffy that was a mastery .Because when i first watch i was like did Buffy have a sister , but it tells us what the storyline between Dawn and Glory i thought that was bloody amazing lol
I love season 6 of Buffy as well because the story between willow coming more powerfully and she becomes dark because the death of her loved one TARA , Dark Willow was such bad ass as well lol  .
and season 7 was bloody amazing , i love the episode when everybody gang up on Buffy , then everybody made Faith the leader of the group . but Buffy was right all the long lol
The finale was cool as well . it was a mint battle between the slayer and the first ever evil 
Angel i only like season 4 because willow comes in to show who boss lol and the story line between faith and angel lol
I hated Angel season 5 because it was so boring !! lol i thought the finale was rushed Buffy finale was way better lolz

Angel. All the way. I love that show way more than Buffy. Don't get me wrong, I love Buffy, but I rather sit down and watch an episode from Angel anyday. Season 1 was great cuz of the small Angel/Cordy/Wesley group and the Faith episodes. Season 2 was a little boring with the whole Angel/Darla thing, but wasn't too bad. Loved Season 3 cuz of Angel/Cordelia. Not a fan of Season 4 cuz of Connor/Cordelia, but there were some things that were good, like Angelus and Faith. I love Season 5: Spike shows up. And as for the finale, I love it. The best episode around in the Buffyverse. Very epic feeling to it, where all the characters know they're gonna die, but they're going to go out in a blaze of glory. And what's a better way than that? There's only a few episodes in Buffy that I really enjoy, so having said that, I love Angel over Buffy. I find it a hell of a lot more interesting. The lines, the action, the characters, the darkness and underlying theme of redemption

^^^ Do you realised half of angel character or from Buffy.,wresley .cordy,faith,and angel ,spike harmony,darla,dursila.
The acting can not be better alyson hanngian and sarah michelle gellar........The storylines were much better and the action were ten times better becasue angel get brayed all the time in season 1 with weak silly demons...And one thing i didnt get why suddenly he came soooo powerful in the angel seris not in Buffy.......And buffy season 6 beats the dark theme of angel together.........got thrown out of heaven by her friends.(how depressing.)
This is the reason i love Buffy better........
insprisational,very funny,can be dark at times.buffy is a true champion....
Very cool actions ,,,,COOL characters....love relationship turn into a brilliant storyline....Doesnt felt rushed and every season has a good range of epsiodes......Better Quality of ep , angel doesnt have the same quality of eps like Buffy does,,,Buffy ep are brilliant...AKA the gift ,hush ,seeing red,conversations with dead.and the muscial ............

I agree, Xi, it's spinning my head around. As for why Angel is seemingly more powerful in his own show than BTVS is because he's playing second fiddle to Buffy. It's all about Buffy and I don't think the writers would want him to be stronger than Buffy, considering the idea of female empowerment. Plus, he spent most of the time brooding. And they also did this with Spike. On Angel, we've seen how strong they really are

I love Buffy. I didn't even watch Angel until a few months back. And I must say... I enjoyed Angel more. Buffy is amazing. And so is Angel. I love them both to death, but I find Angel's original characters more... Cool? Buffy's characters are all so amazing as well. I love all of them. I just found Angel's characters(such as Fred, Lorne, Illyria, Connor, Gunn, ect) more interesting. And likeable. Buffy's big bads are better than Angel's big bads, if you ask me though. The story lines in both shows are awesome. I just liked Angel more for some reason! BS1 = ** BS2 = ***** BS3 = ***** BS4 = *** BS5 = ***** BS6 = ***** BS7 = **** AS1 = **** AS2 = **** AS3 = **** AS4 = **** AS5 = ***** I also enjoyed Angel After the Fall more than BS8 so far. But S8 seems to be getting very good with Retreat!  Also, Night Lord, I gave ya some karma! <3 |

If I took away karma points from people everytime I disagreed,....... I can't come up with a funny way to say it, so I'll just say;
I would subtract a lot.
About the topic;
Buffy over Angel. I think it's mainly because I like the characters in Buffy more than Angel. The shows are just as funny, even tough Buffy has a lot more of "light" fun compared to Angel, the horror is equally terrifying(and often funny), the drama is there, they're both disturbing(season 6 of Buffy and season 4 of Angel, hard to choose which is the most disturbing), the characters are all very complex and all make misstakes while having likeable qualities. Pretty equal in many ways. But I think I prefer the storylines and character-arcs in Buffy more. For example, while the redemption-theme is great, I think I like the girl-power/growing-up-theme better. And for example, while I really like Wesley's and Cordelia's development on Angel, Spike's incredible change is more my taste.
I guess I could also prefer Buffy more because I started watching it first. It also had two more seasons(on TV) to grow on me.

I'll just leave my ratings here. I really don't like the idea of pitting them against each other, since they both have strengths and weaknesses unique to the shows (especially since they didn't usually share writers, exempting Joss) and I love them both with equal fervor. I have no problem rating the seasons though. I love and respect both shows, but I'm with Buffy. Buffy had better characters, better storylines, I just care so much more about that series. It was more colourful and special. Angel is great too, it has what made Buffy great but has it's own voice at the same time. The two shows compliment each other beautifully.
I find Buffy more memorable; each episode of Buffy feels unique, whereas on Angel, I find the episodes tend to bleed together. When I'm watching Angel season 1, it feels like new episodes because they're just so forgettable. Some episodes are so bad I've only managed to sit through them twice. Also, all the best characters on Angel came from Buffy; Angel, Cordelia, Wesley, Faith, Spike, Harmony. Gunn and Lorne were sadly underdeveloped, and Fred was a bit of a Mary Sue. Connor was an annoying shit most of the time. Illyria was the best original Angel character.
(I do still love Angel, honest!)

I love them both a lot, but I enjoy Buffy more. I think the main reason why is that Buffy's seasons seem a lot more focused with a clear goal in mind and a clear big bad and all that stuff, so I find it incredibly enjoyable just to watch it all unravel. These clear goals are often thematic too, and I love how they explore the nature of power and how it affects you and everything. You could ultimately say that every season thematically is the relationship between power and something.
On the other hand Angel generally featured shorter plot lines all in one season (with the exception of Season 4) that generally tied into one another. I think that suited the show better, but I find it a bit harder to get wrapped up into the season.
This isn't to say that I enjoy Angel a whole lot less, if I had to rank the seasons it would probably go something like this:
1. Buffy Season 5
2. Angel Season 5
3. Buffy Season 3
4. Angel Season 2
5. Angel Season 3
6. Buffy Season 7
7. Buffy Season 4
8. Buffy Season 2
9. Angel Season 1
10. Angel Season 4
11. Buffy Season 6
12. Buffy Season 1

Angel will always be my favorite show, and it has been ever since I watched it all the way through years ago.
Buffy will most likely always remain my second favorite show, and I love it almost as much as I do AtS. I just connected with the characters on AtS more than I ever did on BtVS, and I always get swept up in the show every time I do a re-watch, whereas I tend to get bored with my BtVS re-watches if I don't take a one or two year break between each re-watch (especially season 6 and 7).
Like Paul said, the two shows compliment each other beautifully and the Buffyverse as a whole is what is really special, thanks to both of these shows.
But Angel will always be my first choice.
I'd rank the seasons as such:

I will never choose between the shows, not everrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Okay maybe BTVS, but I have to disagree with the starter of this post. I always felt like BTVS should have had a 2 hour series finale event or something everything in the BTVS finale seemed knid of rushed to me. As for Angel series finale man it rocked. I just love that final image of Angel, Spike, Gunn & Illyria at the end going out fighting. Okay I'll stop cause I'm rambling now.

Like everyone, I love both show and I enjoy the early seasons of both 'Buffy' and 'Angel' most.
But for me, 'Angel' had much better characters, Like Paul730 said, Angel, Cordelia, Wesley, Faith, Harmony, Darla and Dru, (I know they all came from 'Buffy' but 'Angel' developed them deeper) and I am also a big fan of both Connor and Fred and season 1-3 of the 'Angel' story lines.
The way the seasons go for me are:
1. Buffy: Season 3 / Angel: Season 2
2. Buffy: Season 2/ Angel: Season 1
3. Angel: Season 3/ Buffy: Season 1
4. Angel: Season 4/ Buffy: Season 5
5. Buffy: Season 4
6. Angel: Season 5
7. Buffy: Season 7
8. Buffy: Season 6

Angel for me. It's more consistant. It also starts and ends brilliantly which is great for rewatching.
Buffy was better in it's prime (3), but far worse at its weakest (6).
