Spike attempting to rape Buffy. And Bangel And I'm sure there are a lot of awkward lines that make me cringe, but I can't think of any right now.

Da Letter Jay, I'm curious, what kind of responses were you originally after? Things that make people cringe because they were painfully badly done? (If that's it, I actually can't think of anything -- Buffy was blissfully free of such moments, especially compared to, say, the Star Trek franchise.) Or things that make you cringe because they're supposed to make you cringe? I mostly mean things that were meant to be funny or serious, but absolutely failed due to the acting, make-up, bad execution, timing, etc. There's also things that are just unwatchable, like rape scenes, murders, gore... stuff that make people cringe.

Willow makes me cringe quite a lot in the early seasons. Scenes that were supposed to come across as cute, but just annoy me. A good example would be "Faith, Hope & Trick", where she says "Ah ha! Sorry. I just meant... ah ha!" That whole line just makes me cringe like you wouldn't believe, I feel embarrassed for her. Another cringey scene is Xander's dancing in "Angel". I'm probably just as bad on the dance floor but at least I can use alcohol as an excuse. Every scene with Wesley before Angel season 2 is unwatchably cringeworthy for me. Oh, and any scene with David Nabbit, I literally have to fastforward past him. What was the point of that character?

in the beginning of No Place Like Home when Buffy makes breakfast for Joyce...
BUFFY: We knew you were feeling less-than-great so...
JOYCE: Yeah, the headaches they said would go away came back and brought some friends along with.
i always just thought it was weird for Joyce to be talking like that, it was much more of a Buffy thing to say

I feel like after a while, the writers decided that everyone should speak like Buffy. Obviously not everyone does (especially Giles), not all the time, but everyone has at least a few lines that are Buffy-ified, lol. I can't think of any cringe-y lines off the top of my head (see? even I'm Buffy-ified), but I know there's some...just really awkward, and like someone else said, embarrassing lines. I've watched all of Buffy and Angel with my mom, and all of Buffy with my boyfriend, and there were some times when someone said something really uncute and unfunny, trying to be cute and funny, and I was a little embarrassed to be a fan...lol.

I know I've picked up friends' catchphrases and modes of speaking before, just through constant exposure. It seems a little stranger from Joyce, but it doesn't strike me as odd that Xander and Willow would talk sort of like Buffy after a while.

Any scene where Xander is criticizing Buffy. They always make me cringe in fury, cause the large majority of the time he's just being a huge dick with really no excuse. Best examples I can give are in season 2 when he figures out Angel is alive and they all have the intervention thing, and in season 3 in Dead Man's Party. The first one it's so clear he's just being an ass cause he clearly still has feelings for her, and he's trying to act as if he's doing it for the good of the group. It bothers me sooo much. Very similar to Dead's Man Party, where he's just being incredibly mean to her for really no reason, and I was glad at least someone (Cordelia) stood up for her, even if she didn't do it so well. The reason why I cringe is cause people just forgive him for it, and no one says anything to him, but I think if anything similar to that happened in real life, people would definitely call him out for being way too harsh.
I also cringe when the writers gave Cordelia lines that were way too mean for the scenario, cause often they were just out of character. I remember there was a line where she pretty much made fun of Buffy for the fact that her parents were divorced, and I just really can't see Cordelia saying that.

i completely agree about your point in regards to Cordy. she didnt seem the type to pick on someone based on a circumstance they couldn't help. she was horrible at times but i think most of what she said was fair in a way. i can't really explain it

Cordy(at least in season 1-3 of Buffy and season 1 of Angel) being too mean? Wasn't she suppose to be unable to feel for others and making fun of everyone? In the first episode we see her talking crap about Willow's clothes and how Buffy got thrown out of her last school(might not have been the first ep). After that, it didn't get better. She made for of lots of people, often when they couldn't help the circumstances. Which lines were too mean?
Another cring-worthy moment:
Darla raping/sexually assaulting Angel in his sleep in season 2. I remember that scene when we see her crawling down his naked torso. Bleh! And it's pretty clear that wasn't the only time his dreams got some "encouragement" sexual wise.

What Xander says to Spike in "Forever" about Spike not caring about Joyce and just wanting to get Buffy's attention. Eugh.

With the masses I really cringed when Spike tried to rape Buffy...
Also certain scenes that involve Buffy crying tend to make me cringe. Sometimes I think it just doesn't seem natural, even forced.
Clem also makes me cringe....

The gang is sitting around outside of the school discussing college possibilities. Xander and Cordy start slinging barbs at each other, to which Buffy replies, "ok you guys, don't forget to breathe between insults." In response to Buffy Cordy says, " oh, I'm sorry, Buffy, this conversation is reserved for those who actually have a future," and then Cordy walks away with a smug expression. Pretty damn mean if you ask me. One thing that makes me cringe is the scene in Empty Places where they are kicking Buffy out of the house. In fact, that whole ep is pretty cringe-worthy. Pretty much any scene/ep where the scoobies are fighting: Dead Man's Party, Revelations, etc. And anything out of Caleb's mouth was/is pretty cringe worthy.

I've always thought that line was so Cordy. Specially since Buffy dared speak to her when she hadn't been spoken to. In high school Cordelia's world, that warrants a mean come back. And possibly a be-heading. Not that she usually needs a reason. Okay, that might be overreacting, Cordelia probably didn't think Buffy should lose her head. But I definitly see early Cordy in a different light that you.
