Why would FOX do that. They should at least air the half season. I thought that maybe they wouldn't get a season three, maybe they wouldn't get a back half of season two but I didn't think FOX would take it off air in the middle of a half season. I hope whatever is being planned works. The fans got the show a second season, the least they could do is let us watch it.

Here are some ideas that could help the show right now and this Friday. From IMDb.

I'm getting a sense of inevitability here.
2.1 million viewers isn't just a bad rating... it's a startlingly bad rating. It's getting down into CW/basic cable territory.
A number that low means that even the core Whedonites are abandoning the show.
No show can stay on a major network with numbers like that, regardless of DVR or downloads.
If next week's numbers don't improve on this week's, I think Fox will pull the show right then and there.
The question is, will all 13 episodes get filmed, meaning we get the complete season on DVD eventually? The cast and crew are all contracted for 13 episodes, meaning they have to get paid regardless. And shutting down production would mean no DVD set, which is guaranteed to make a profit no matter how low the broadcast ratings are. So it wouldn't really make sense not to film all 13.
"Wonderfalls" managed to get a season DVD set even though it aired only 4 episodes. Hopefully "Dollhouse" can do the same.
But, unless Fox decides to make a last-ditch marketing effort (unlikely), I'm thinking the odds are not good of the show staying on the air for more than a couple more weeks.
I wish I knew what happened. After such a strong second half of last season, why would this season get off to such a terrible start? Why do awful sitcoms pull higher numbers than this show? And where are all of Joss's fans? There are more than 2.1 million of them. Aren't there?
If there's one lesson to be drawn from this, it's that Joss should never consider working in network TV ever again, no matter what. It's just not a venue where his style can succeed anymore.

yeah, if i could stream on Hulu and FOX i would definitely do it and i'd get my friends to do it aswell
this is really annoying, because it actually does okay on sci-fi over here
is there even any chance Dollhouse could be picked up for Syfy? why is it on FOX in the first place?

Dollhouse takes a week off after Belle Chose too, plenty of, and maybe the perfect time, for FOX to take it off. I bet they'll wait for the DVR numbers for Vows and see how those are, but I wouldn't be surprised if those are down from last season too. I bet it'll get a DVD set regardless if they film all 13, the studio would still make a profit. I'd be enraged if they shut down production before they filmed them all. It'd seem like great way to make money by having a bunch of "unaired" episodes if they cancel it. I get so angry seeing the promos for other FOX shows. I don't watch any of them, but there is no denying they are good. They have elements of drama, comedy, and what the critics say. Dollhouse has naked girls, guns, and mindless violence. I mean, did you see this promo they aired for Instinct? What... the... hell? It just seems doomed.

And where are all of Joss's fans? There are more than 2.1 million of them. Aren't there? Are there really? Joss' name is like a cult ticket for coolness. But really, how many hardcore fans are there? Just gauging by the number of responses on this forum, and say Whedonesque... not that many. It's the same people over and over that are actually watching this, and taking the time to comment, what more digest the episode and analyze it for discussion fodder. Then there's the fact that there are plenty of fans outside the US that don't get a chance to factor in, namely coz the show airs much later for them, and the fact that FOD and Hulu cater only within the US. The fact that the show's narrative is ill-suited for the general casual viewer these days in undeniable. It's not a show that you can just jump into. Even casual fans of Joss who watch it just can't seem to get into it. Factor in the lousy time slot, lack of promo work, and probably even the constant gloom and doom of number crunching pundits, one must ask, who would give a crap to get invested in a show that will probably be cancelled due to bad ratings? Fox isn't a charity, so they can't continue if it isn't sustainable... That said, I'm really hoping for a DVD/Blu-ray boxset at the end of this, regardless of what happens. This is the only fandom under Joss that I got to participate in as it went from buzz to reality (grew up on the other side of the world... I was always a season behind the US on BtVS, Angel, and never got to see Firefly until I bought the DVD set), so it saddens me that it will probably be cancelled, just as it's finding its niche.

Story and how you can help at Dollverse. This really sucks. I hope this campaign, or whatever goes on, is big. Duly joined. Let's not give up on Season 2 and 3 just yet. i think DOllhouse's biggest problem is that people decided the show was doomed before it ever aired... Best wishes, Scott

Guys, also check out this post here at blank_dolls[/b][/u] that has some great graphics and lots of tips on how you can help Dollhouse. I'm currently about to switch my icon/banner set to a Dollhouse one. C'mon SlayAlivers! Open up a tab on your web browser and start streaming this season's eps at hulu and fox.com. C'mon! Let's go! Give a little and you'll get a lot! Gossi is also working to organize a campaign effort here at Activate Dollhouse forum. Let's all circle the wagons here, guys!

I'm a fan but I think this show just isn't good enough to survive. It picked up midway through season 1 but season 2 has had another weak start with the extra burden of far more to explain. It's the weakest Joss show against stiff competition in an uncertain time.

I added links to Dollhouse on Hulu, Amazon and Fox so all people need to do is click my sig. I would if I could but sadly I can't. So please do it. You dont even need to sit and watch it. Open it in a new tab and let it play through while you do something else in a different tab.

Barring a direct act of God, there's no hope for a season 3 or even a back nine at this point. The way I see it, here are the three tiers of things we can hope for at this point:
1. That all 13 episodes will air. This will only happen if "Instinct" turns out to be an anomaly, and the ratings for the next couple of episodes can rebound into the 2.5-3 million range, and stay there. DVR and download numbers also have to be strong. This, unfortunately, doesn't seem likely.
2. Failing that... That all 13 episodes will be filmed, so they can be released as a complete season DVD. This is a possibility, considering that the show is so much cheaper to produce this season. 20th Century Fox might go ahead and film all the episodes even without a TV slot, counting on the DVD set to make it profitable. That's a very good bet... Whedon DVD sets always sell well regardless, and in this case it would have a great deal of never-before-seen stuff on it.
3. And failing that... That if production shuts down early, the studio allows at least a single extra episode in order to give closure to the series, and connect up to "Epitaph One." They're shooting episode 7 now, so this option would allow at least an 8-episode DVD set with a wrap-up episode included, and not simply leave everything hanging like with "Firefly."

Yeah, at this point I'd be more than happy just to get all 13 episodes, whether it airs or on the DVD. Anything more than that just seems pointless. Of course I like the idea, and support the campaigning, but it just seems impossible to get the actual Neilson ratings up to what they were. Everyone who wants to watch the show is watching it.

I don't know. It's weird with Dollhouse cause when I watch it, I enjoy it, but when I think about it after I am just not that excited about it. I'll keep watching, but I just highly doubt it will be saved, and it sounds bad, but I don't think I'll care overly much. =/ Especially when I compare it to Firefly whose death I still mourn.

Errrm, I like Dollhouse better than Firefly. Anyway, I see what you mean. I watch Dollhouse and I think "This is AMAZING" and then the week later I almost forget to watch it. I think the main reason is the constant standalone episodes, meaning no reason to go back and watch the next episode as everything gets tied up at the end of the hour.

I'm having the same problem right now. I mean, I love Dollhouse, like... a lot. But at the moment, it doesn't have anything on Buffy, Angel, or Firefly. Those three shows had the full-amazing-television-package, Dollhouse has bits and pieces, pretty inconsistent. Regardless, I want the show to continue for as long as it can. The writers need to get moving, though. That's my problem with Season 2 so far, almost nothing has happened. We've gotten some amazing stuff like Whiskey, Echo, and Perrin, but right now it feels like the beginning of Season 1. We need more episodes like Man on the Street or A Spy in the House Love. Episodes that feel Whedon-y: writing, characters, plot, many layers... Stop having Echo go on all these predictable engagements that barely make sense and start focusing on the Dollhouse and the ideas that surround it. This week's episode seems no different.

Couldn't agree more. They only have 13 episodes - maybe less - and yet they are still throwing in all these standalone episodes which bring almost nothing to a main storyline. And I agree, next week looks no different. Me hopes for something solid on week 4.
