hey guys! so about six months ago i bought an Xbox 360. i've been just paying cames or whatever on it, but that's getting boring. i'm wondering if i should sign up for Xbox Live. do any of you have it? is it worth $60 dollars a year?
and then, there's another issue. i got an Ethernet cable with my Xbox, but it doesn't rech my computer, it isn't long enough! so i wanted to know if there are such things as Ethernet Cable extension cords or something. or should i just buy a longer one? and if i do get a longer one, does it have to be the Xbox brand, or can i just buy any cable that is long enough?
thanks, guys!

I think XBL is totally worth it. If you like to play any multiplayer games (Halo, Call of Duty, etc.) you get way more out of the game. If you have Netflix, you also have the ability to watch movies and TV shows instantly. You also get some cool free content like "The Guild". The live feature really expands the capabilities of the machine, and they will be adding more features soon (like Twitter).
As far as the ethernet cable goes, just buy a longer one; any Ethernet cable will work. They also have a wireless adapter for the 360, but I am not sure how well it works.

if you can find an ethernet cable that's long enough you should definitely use that instead of a wireless adapter, they're still pretty pricey
what games do you have currently? XBL is definitely worth it if you have games that are good multiplayers when i first got my 360 i had Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and some others, and they're good games, but repetitive with no online play
one of the only things i dislike about Mass Effect is there's no online play... it could of been so good

well, teh entire reason i bought an Xbox was so that i could play Mirror's Edge, lol. so i have that, and thenmy brother bought call of duty. we only ever play the Zombie level on it, though. i started playing halo yesterday at my cousin's and it's pretty awesome, but i'll probably wait till the price goes down before i get it.
any other good games you all think i should try? i certainly want to try WET, the game that Eliza Dushku did. She's the voice of the main character, and the game actually looks pretty sweet so i'll check that out.

I have a 360 but havn't got XBL Gold... yet. Im for sure going to buy it in the next month as it is totally worth it. Plus Facebook and Twitter are coming to XBL and in the UK (Not sure about anywhere else) we are getting Sky TV on the XBOX soon. XBL is getting better and better and everyone with a 360 should get it, its totally worth it.
I have the ethernet cable probalem too. Im going to buy a wireless adapter at the time I get XBL. There a bit pricey though, still £60 in the UK.

Some great games for 360:
Bioshock-Great, inventive First Person Shooter. One of the best games of last year
Call of Duty Series-Sounds like you have WAW; great multiplayer options hours of fun on Xbox Live. Let me know if you get XBL and we can play this one together!
GTA IV-If you like GTA games, this one is worth it, also The Lost and The Damned is a great add-on, I think I like it better than the regular story mode.
If you like superheros, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a fun, and Wolverine: Origins was a pleasant surprise.

Facebook and Twitter on Xbox Live? Hamna-whut? I don't see it meshing well. I can see tv shows and movies on the console, but social networking sites? Are they trying to replace the home computer? "Quite possibly," Rebecca says as she answers her own question. Didn't Microsoft come out with WebTV like a thousand years ago? They've been trying to replace the PC with living room entertainment for a while now. But I also remember WebTV failing. Perhaps they were just ahead of their time, but it just feels like an odd mesh of things, when it isn't all centralized to begin with. Now, a console with desktop capability, access to downloadable tv shows, movies, games, and music, access to the internet for networking sites and email, player for games and dvd/blu ray of course, all in one machine.... that makes sense. Maybe someday we'll get there

I am part of of the Preview program for the new features, so I have had Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM on my 360 for the past few days. So far, I really enjoy it.
Facebook: This is really great for pictures. You can access all of yours and your friends' profiles and photos right on your TV; this is great for slideshows, etc. when you have friends and family over.
Cons-You can't access links
Twitter: Not that special; it's cool that you can check your twitter account on the TV, but the functionality is limited.
Last.fm: This might be the coolest feature, because you can access so much music from your TV, and if you have speakers hooked up to your TV then this can serve as a music player for parties, gathering, etc.

I love how the 360 made their own design of the new features instead of the old plain site on the web.Great job 360. I can not Wait for Alan wake, the Graphics are really superior and brilliant, the detail is so great i thought the 360 wasnt powerful enough ,proved me wrong . I think this game is going to give some title on the PS3 run for they money. Check it out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnCe_Klb4cc

That is pretty expensive. You have to pay that much per month? Is that due to the addition of skytv? You only pay that much if you subscribe to the full Sky package. Live Gold is the same price as always, you just pay more if you want Sky TV.

I have a 360. But the stupid box got the ring of death, agian, It is stupid because of that. I've been to lazy to call Microsoft and tell em' to come and fix it. I bought a PS3 instead. But otherwise it's a great gaming console. The best IMO when it comes to gaming.
I have to fix it, Left for dead 2 this month!
