The first issues i give them a strong 8/9 out of 10. I still have hope and courage that joss is making season 8 really good and unpredictable. I still have hope l

I wanted to like it, I really did, but the book has just gotten worse and worse, the art is some of the worst i've ever seen by Jeanty who's work I enjoyed during his Gambit run. This book has ruined a great many characters I once enjoyed and if it turns out the true ID of Twilight is who they are saying it is, this is making me start to believe that Joss might've just lost his mind. The show as far as me and my friends are concerned has "Jumped the Shark" and in honor of that fact I give you this

I like some elements of the story, but I feel the scope has gotten way out of control. If this was a televised season it would have been made and viewed much faster. This format change has lead Joss to bite off more than the season can chew, with new plot elements being shoved in every issue leading to not a great deal of pay-off:
Riley the betrayer? That wasn't exactly worth his 3 panels. Dawn's transformations were just an excuse to keep her interesting that have since disappeared. Amy and Warren could have been dispatched long ago so we wouldn't just watch them stand around with Twilight. Faith and Giles got an interesting arc, but that new relationship got swept away in a mess of massive group shots. The list goes on.
I can't help but feel that if these stories were taken as more standalone comic book runs, we'd have experienced more satisfaction and resolution.

Been a few months, guess I'll say where I'm at now. I've enjoyed some of it, but I'm frustrated by most of it, especially lately. Even the pay offs are lackluster like with Dawn and the thricewise. Years for that moment, and yet it was resolved so simply, so plainly.
2009 was the year the comics derailed the most, right in January with Harmony. I still say the first eleven issues of the comic were great though.
WATG is where I started asking WTF is going on whether it was Batsu, Xander and Dracula, or Mecha Dawn. Just so WTF. I know a lot of people love that arc, but it's a bit insane to me. And I hate Buffy Vs. Dracula, why would I want to see more of him?
2010 I believe will be a good year though. Issue 31 alone is enough to give me hope.

WATG is one of my favourite archs, but I did like Buffy and Dracula and I adore Batsu. I'm just a girl who loves girls with girls, I can't help it Can't wait to hold 31 in my hands ...

Am I the only one who thought the Harmony stuff was pretty funny? I was rereading a bit of it late last night. I'm a few issues behind, but overall I've enjoy this season.

I positively absolutely despise the vampires are in-slayers are out storyline. I hate the fact that the world now knows about the supernatural, and not only do they know but they think vampire's are in "chique"?? And vampy-cats? R u kidding me? Everything else is pretty umm, pretty scattered, nothing is falling into place at all. Hopefully Issue 30 will put everything into prospective.

Season eight is pretty cool. I think its done a brilliant job for a comic TV show continuation, although I would love it if they got extra pages every month, even if its only a few. I'm loving the main storyline, in fact Twilight is my favorite big bad ever. It is a but annoying whenever they sidetrack for months but I still love it.

I think when we founded out Twilights true identity the comics come interesting to read because we have all our inner theories so we read and find out the truth about the plan of the big bad ( Twilight).

I swore that because I stuck with the comic for so long that I'd see it to the end and I still am but: Slayers with guns! Nooooooo waaaaaaay! That has always been the number one rule of the show. No slayer carries a gun, never. So when I saw that in Retreat it crossed the line that I never thought I'd say and thats maybe the comics aren't a really connection to the show. Maybe this is just another "Queen of the Slayers" to keep us going until another book/comic/movie comes along and goes "oh wait this is the real season 8 here" Buffy said in season 2 that cops can't fight demons so she has to because they'd come prepeared with guns 'These things never useful'- season 6 Warren killed Tara with a gun and looked what happened there- season 6 Buffy armed the potential slayers still with swords, axes and cross bows in season 7 even though they were powerless so why did she arm them with stupid guns and army gear in Retreat? Just don't fully understand where they are going with the mythology of the show these days. I know it's in comic book form now and that allows them to change the format of the show slightly but I fear it's getting a bit far. Having said that I am looking forward to seeing more Twilight revelations. I actually liked hearing the reveal of Twilight. It gives us so much more to speculate on now. Though I obviously wish I had found out first by reading the issue but I suppose the story has just changed from 'who is Twilight' to 'why is he doing this'. Just hope it comes to a fitting conclusion and I can say when it's done that it was all worth waiting those long months for the next issue for those 3 and a bit years.

I swore that because I stuck with the comic for so long that I'd see it to the end and I still am but: Slayers with guns! Nooooooo waaaaaaay! That has always been the number one rule of the show. No slayer carries a gun, never. That's actually one of the plot points. Rules are getting thrown out. The real number-one rule of Slayers WAS that there was only one at a time... but now there are thousands. So when I saw that in Retreat it crossed the line that I never thought I'd say and thats maybe the comics aren't a really connection to the show. Maybe this is just another "Queen of the Slayers" to keep us going until another book/comic/movie comes along and goes "oh wait this is the real season 8 here" It's Joss telling the story here... so it's the only season 8 there's going to be. Buffy said in season 2 that cops can't fight demons so she has to because they'd come prepeared with guns But this time, the enemy has the cops on their side. 'These things never useful'- season 6 Buffy herself is still refusing to carry one. (Although she used a rocket launcher to kill the judge, and she did have a gun in "Homecoming" and was prepared to use it.) Warren killed Tara with a gun and looked what happened there- season 6 She mentions in the #32 previews how she hates guns because they keep killing her friends. Buffy armed the potential slayers still with swords, axes and cross bows in season 7 even though they were powerless so why did she arm them with stupid guns and army gear in Retreat? In season 7 they were fighting super-vamps who wouldn't be affected by guns. In season 8 they're confronted with a large army of humans armed with guns, tanks, and bombs... and are without their powers. Without guns, they'd be a group of normal girls trying to fight an army with sticks and axes. Suicide. "Once you change the world, the world's all different." The old rules don't apply any more, and that may be a big part of the problem that led to the creation of Twilight.

I like the whole story but dislike some moments. First of all - the whole Angel is Twilight idea. Whatever explanation is, it is still wrong. Totally. Whedon likes angst, I know, but this is too much! Buffy being gay or bisexcual.. well, I was just shocked. Don't know really is it good or bad thing. Though I like Fuffy Buffy/Xander. Well, one user said .Buffy rejects Xander for YEARS then all of the sudden she may or may not have feelings for him? Huh? . I couldn't say better . Also. The whole mess about loosing power - only to remain undiscovered by Twilight. But.. WTF? They were discovered. They had a battle. And now they want their powers back. Hmm.... may be they shouldn't give up on their powers for the fist place? Because all they got in the end - a big waste of time in Tibet. Vampires becoming popular because of Harmony's show.. I think it is ridiculous and unreal... even for comics.

But Vampy Cats, Mecha Dawn, Vampires-in, Slayers-out, is really ridiculous Why would the known world fall in with monsters eating people and think its the new cool thing. The series has just gotten too comic-booky

This "season" has had some WTF moments for sure. But then again, so did the regular series.
There are many things that I don't like about this season, far more than I could say that I didn't like about my favorite season (which is seven, by the by). What really put me off with Dark!Future!Willow in TOYL. I stopped buying the issues after that reveal. Let me just say that I hate time travelling. It's messy, boring, and just not entertaining to me. After that, I also feel like there was a decline. I love the first 3 arcs.
I also hate the "Vampires In Chic" stuff. That's just totally odd. I think the main thing that I liked about Buffy was that they used demons, magic, and other stuff as metaphors for real life. I'm not really seeing that here. Sometimes the comics just come off like a bad episode of "Charmed".
I think the season has gone on too long. They should have kept it as 22 issues - short(er) and sweet.
Also, I hate that Anya has barely been mentioned. I think that's bull**** on the writers' parts. I realize that there hasn't been a lot of room, but Tara's been mentioned quite a bit (which I love), and it just seems unfair as an Anya fan that she was an imprtant character from seasons 3-7 and has since been forgotten. Lame.

I think it would be really great for season 8 to not be compared to any of the show’s TV seasons. The art of any comic books in general is really different than the art of a TV show. I really love both medias but they are just too different to compare, it’s not right. Can you compare a novel and a song?
But for what is worth, Buffy was one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. It was truly genius, a TV in its absolute best. And Season 8 is definitely not one of the best comics I have read, not even close. And I find it really sad, because Joss is the writer of Astonishing X-men – a series that is as great for a comic book as Buffy is for a TV shows.
