i agree with a lot of others, they were all epic! 'cept for s4, but don't get me wrong, Restless is one of my favorite episodes...it just doesn't come near to the epic-ness of finales like Chosen

yea season 4 finale (just watched it 2 days ago) didn't FEEL like a finale to me.
I mean I hadn' tbeen paying attention to the discs and it ended I turned to my gf and said 'ok on to the next disc' only to realize. oh wait that WAS S4 finale... ok. It just felt like a normal episode.
S1's finale wasn't great but it was good. reason why it may have seemed lackluster is because itw as season 1. (MOST inital seasons of shows are only half seasons, as BTVS S1 is) so the show's writers/cast etc. wouldn't have known @ the point of the S1 finale if they were getting picked up for future seasons.
hmm.. gonna have to say season 2's finale was really good (IMO).

Season 7 for me had the epic finale. Season 2, 3 and 5 come close, with Season 6 and 1 bringing up the rear

I think season 7 was brutal , but the gift was emotional. I enjoy the goosebumps of chosen in every scene also with the whole epic music. but i enjoy crying like a baby of the gift.
every season had awesome epic finales.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. The finale for S4 isn't like the usual finales, but the whole season is definitely all about experimentation with the formula up to that point for the writers and boy did they experiment. "Restless" is a character study of our four heroes, exploring the motivations and insecurities that have driven their actions to this point. Since initially seeing it, it has remained my favourite episode of the show. It probably is best to think of "Primeval" as the climax to the season, while "Restless" doesn't really fit any of the usual patterns of progression. "Prophecy Girl" took the show to a whole new level of quality. From the opening, slow-mo vampire confrontation, beginning with Buffy falling to the ground and ending with the (suddenly in normal speed) blows and staking, to the remixed piano Buffy theme at the end, with the whole gang standing over the body of the Master, the whole episode is darker and more emotionally intense than anything we've seen so far. Think of the scene where Willow finds the guy's bodies in the school (the first Buffy scene that I found actually frightening), or the utterly devastating scene in the library where Buffy quits her calling. There are individual shots that send shivers up my spine every time I see them, like when the camera pulls back slightly and suddenly when Buffy takes a breath and her eyes fly open when she's revived. The whole episode is pure quality, and deserves its place as one of the best in the series.

The Gift had a great balance of epic on the action scale and the emotional one, as did Becoming.
3 didn't pack the emotional punch of 2 and 5. 7 was the largest scale but kinda silly on a TV budget. Season 6 was unnecessarily dramatic which made it silly. It should have been more intimate imo. 4 is odd but a fantastic closer. Season 1 is, well, season 1.

I love Dark willow, such bad ass. I think it was necessarily to show the trio, were bad guys and i know it was brutal to kill off tara ,but it was the reason for willow going bad .

The Gift and Becoming are probably my favourites. I really like Graduation Day aswell, but Angel/Buffy annoys me in that episode.
Grave was horrible. I think the only highlights were when Dawn decided to kick some ass, and the yellow crayon speech because I'm a big cry baby. But I really don't like Dark Willow.

^^ I loved, "grave". I think the reason i like it so much because this was an highlight to show willow magics abilities, and how powerful she really was. She was connected to the earth and everything and everybody's inner feelings, she definitively became powerful.

^I guess - there are aspects of "Grave" that I like, but overall I thought it was a pretty lame finale. The extremely plastic shrine to whateverthehell comes out of nowhere and the climax for Buffy and Dawn is also pretty...anticlimactic for a finale. I do like that Xander gets to save the day, but it could have been plotted tighter for me. This is down there with "Chosen" at the bottom of the pile for me.

^ Way lame; and disappointing that the writers felt "Darth" Willow needed two massive cop-outs to hit her uber-dark-side (drug addiction and girlfriend murder).

I appreciate this episode to show her abilities , but I do agree it wasn’t a very good climax as a finale. I do lke this as an episode or even a follow up to the finale. But I think I only like this arc is that she used her emotion to comfort her inner dark side to kill the trio , revenge because their realistically killed Tara with a man made weapon , which Orious abandon her wishes to bring Tara back and she furiously screamed at him with a powerful scream which hurted the GOD. So after that scene I knew she will become the powerful female out of the buffy verse.

The Gift..hands down. The series finale is probably one of my least favorite. Season 6 coming in probably second and season 2 getting the bronze medallion

The Gift, easily. Everything from throughout the season came together to defeat Glory. It was just epic and amazing.

I'm still going to go with Becoming, Parts 1 & 2. They gave a lot of backstory on Angel/Angelus, and his journey. They also built up many things to come, such as Willow's magical abilities, Buffy's sacrifices, and the forthcoming Spike alliance. The battles and the deaths in these two episodes did it for me. They're amazing.

I personally thought The Gift was a much better finale than Chosen. I felt more complete when it was over. Like that's how it was supposed to end. The end of Chosen just pissed me off. I yelled at the TV and cussed at Buffy while crying over the deaths of my two favorite characters. Just to explain why I was cussing at Buffy, I was pissed off that she was SMILING after the destruction of Sunnydale. I mean, two minutes earlier she had confessed her love for Spike and though she knew he was dead, she found herself smiling. I get that she did something extremely awesome by saving the world [again] and changing the slayer line completely, but it just felt wrong for her to be smiling when Spike was dead.

Seven or five were the most epic I think. Six is my favourite ending-wise, though I do love Restless it isn't quite an ending.

Wow - I feel alone. Because for me Graduation Day was the most epic (hate that word) finale. I love Chosen very much and I very almost cried while watching it. But I have found after watching all the finales so many times with some of the shiny worn off of them, Graduation Day still makes me smile. The idea of these kids empowered - not by magic or anything. But just the will to keep fighting. Which is something they don't always stress enough in Buffy and Angel. Unlike what The First believes it's NOT about power. It's about drive. The Potential slayers needed the power of a demon to stand up and fight - if not they would have just been picked off one by one. But Sunnydale High students didn't - they just were tired of dying needlessly and wanted to stand up and live. And for me that's SOOO much more epic (still hate that word).

Chosen was my favourite finale, mainly for the final battle and Spike's sacrifice.
