um..am i alone when i say 'Restless'? THAT is the most epic. It's my favorite episode of the whole series as well. I just love the concept of dreams in general. Chosen and Grave are definatly close seconds. Then third would have to be Graduation Day Part 1/2.

I always found The Gift to be the most epic finale.
Something about Glory and Buffy's fight on the tower as they're both running to get to Dawn with the city as a backdrop is freakin' amazing. Plus the sky opening up and the ground breaking ... it just has a truly epic feel.

no PJ, I love 'restless' as well. I think it's one of the only episodes that is virtually flawless. As for epic, it doesn't quite match up to 'the gift'... all the finales had their epic moments- 'grave' and 'chosen' i guess really are more epic overall than 'becoming', 'graduation day' and 'prophecy girl' b/c of the pacing and the action, but i think they have a certain cheapness to them that came w/a lot of the episodes in season 6 and 7. The show seasons 1 - 5 has a certain aura to it that I think left when they went to UPN somehow. 'The gift' was perfect- quiet in certain spots, action-packed in others and perfectly written/paced the entire episode. 'Chosen' could've lived up to it if it didn't feel rushed! There were so many SLOW points in mid-season 7 and then the end feels rushed!? That was poor planning on the writers part I think. I guess 'Chosen' really is if not #1, the #2 most epic. I just think 'the gift' is a better episode overall.

I also love Restless, but I wouldn't say it's a particularly 'epic' episode. It also wasn't a particularly series-ending episode either. Though it is one of my favourites because I love dream sequences.

I hate Restless - there. I said it. Good to get it off my chest...
In fact, till now I like to pretend that Primeval was the last episode of Season 4...

"Grave" is definitely my favorite. Even with the cheesy drug addiction/magic metaphor, Xander & Willow at the end made me cry, I'll admit it. It was great to see Xander save the world.
"Graduation Day" comes in second. I agree with what RexyB said. The scene at the end where they look back and say something like "we survived..not the battle..high school", is so awesome.
Those were the finales I connected the most with. But I guess in terms of just pure epic-ness, "Chosen" would have my vote.

I would have to go with "Grave" as well. The Xander/Willow moment was just too amazing.
I really do like "Graduation Day" and "The Gift," but for other reasons. "Chosen" is amazing and epic in the strictest sense of the word, but it felt more rushed than I would have liked.

I just realize that it's kind of not fair that we compare Restless to the other finale even though technically it was. Only cause I was just thinking of the final battle in Primeval. I was too excited when they did their Matrix thing. Plus the huge fight scene with the scoobies, initiative soldiers and demons fighting was pretty epic.

That's very true, so even without Restless being particularly 'epic', the season four finale as a whole really was. It was so awesome with the whole initiative soldiers vs demon thing!

Restless wasn't epic is was just so imaginative and a great taste of whats going to happen in season 5. I love that scene.

I agree with buffylover. "Restless" wasn't epic, just really amazing! To me the most epic final is "Chosen" ... or maybe "The Gift". But "Grave" is my personal favorite .

In terms of sheer epicness, I'd have to go with The Gift and Chosen. But Becoming Part I/II is probably my all time fave in terms of season finales.

For me the best and most epic by far was The Gift. It was meant to end the series if they didn't get a new contract and would have been the perfect way for Buffy to go out if that was indeed the end of the series. Just a great episode.

Ok, in terms of awesome random hilarity? Restless. In terms of heartbreakness? Becoming. In terms of epicness? Graduation Day- they blew up the freakin' high school 'nuff said.

I love the Gift, completely, but will always appreciate the emotion Whedon brought out in Grave. The love shared between Willow and Xander made me bawl my eyes out upon first watching the episode, as I also have a friendship where I felt that Buffy was hitting the nail on the head with the issue.

I definitely think that chosen was the most epic finale. I'm not saying it was the best but wow, epic battle with the ubervamps, spikes sacrifice, and the destruction of Sunnydale, all of that combined with the score make it the most epic seeming to me. I love love love the score for that episode, it is just as epic as the battle.
I really liked all of the finales, but I don't necessarily think that they are epic. Restless was the funniest and most interesting finale and I love it for that.
For season 6 I really consider villains, two to go, and grave as one big finale. It was the most edge of my seat what is going to happen next finale.
I do consider the battle between Buffy and Angelus in becoming to be quite epic. The ending was just soul-crushingly perfect.
Graduation day I guess could also be described as epic. The whole school got together to fight the mayor, and I thought it was a great conclusion to the high school years. I was also kind of on the dge of my seat for this one because of the whole Faith shoots Angel/ Buffy fights Faith/ Angel drinks Buffy thing. It was a great conclusion to my second favorite season, I love it alot, but I dont think that it was as epic as the gift, or chosen. Maybe it's on the same level as becoming though.
The gift was epic. The only reason I didn't rate it as high in epicness as chosen is because the score was not as good. The battle is not as epic just because of sheer numbers, and the fact that the ubervamps were scarier than glorys minions. The self sacrifice of Buffy seemed more epic than Spikes though, probably just because it was Buffy. Not to diminish Spikes sacrifice, that gets me every time, but I thought Buffys was lot more emotional. But Glory being beaten with the troll hammer, EPIC. second most epic finale
Prophecy girl was a really good episode and it was edge of my seat for the first season. However she seemed to beat the master too easily after she comes back. So it was awesome, but all of the other finales top it in epicness except restless, but that episode is just awesome in it's own way.
