^^WHAT! What planet are you from? Lol. From the planet that hates musicals? hearing Giles sing was god awful, i was ready to give in and join Harmony as a minion. Nod44, I agree with MoonEyes. My brain cannot fathom what you just said. Part of me still believes you did not say it. Oh believe it , the episode was awful. i couldn't sit through it for longer than 2 minutes without turning off my player. My sister hates OMWF aswell. I don't get it. She's never actually sat through the episode. We re-watched the series together once (only 3-7), and she left 15 minutes into it and I had to call her back in when it was finished. Stupid. Especially when she likes watching Glee. Glade to see another person dislikes the episode aswell since Joss copies are disagreeing with me (Joss is of course known for loving musicals and always wanting to make one if you listened to his commentary to the episode, which made it much less painful to watch for me.).

^^I choose to believe that that statement was a figure of my imagination. Along with Xander and Dawn being a couple.

I'm also amazed whenever I meet any Buffy fans who didn't like OMWF. Each to their own, I guess.

To comment on Marster's big scene, half of why it is brilliant is the look on his face as he can't help but burst in to song. It's so Spike, he's got this look like "I can't beleive that I'm doing this...".

I probably would have liked OMWF better if it hadnt been so....overproduced? It would have been funnier if everyone hadnt sounded as vocaly-trained as they did. I dont know....I mean, pretty much everyone thinks its one of the best episodes ever........but I just found it kinda dull.

^^ I'm confused. You wanted the actors to sound terrible? o.0 The reason my mom doesn't like that episode is because she thinks they can't sing (yet she has the original "A Chorus Line" soundtrack -from the original broadway not the movie- and most of that cast sounds dreadful).

I know it sounds weird.....but yeah, I probably would have liked it better if had sounded rougher and more spontaneous. I'm not sure of vocal talent....haven't the skills to say yea or nay for their talents; but I thought they did sound trained. I just think it would have been more fun without the overproduction/coreography ect.......but then it probably makes a HUGE difference that I really am not a musical fan at all. I'm guessing a fair bit of it was playing off famous musicals....not a one of which I've seen; so I'll admit I dont have much credability on the subject.

I get the dislike of musicals as a genre, even if I don't share it, but why Giles specifically? From a purely technical standpoint, Anthony Stewart Head and Amber Benson were probably the most skilled singers in the cast ... is it the strangeness of his particular character bursting into song that makes him stand out negatively more than the others?

I personally am not a fan of musicals. I tend to hate them with a fiery passion. But the only musicals I have loved were Joss Whedon made. Once More With Feeling and Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Any other musicals I cringe at.

Hells Bells really annoys me now. There's absolutely nothing leading up to show Xander having doubts about marrying Anya. I think there was one very subtle thing, which they obviously couldn't elaborate on because they ignored Xander a lot during that season. Pointless episode to cause more pointless heartbreak.

Xander was suffering all year about the pressure of his wedding. The problem I have is that he and Anya seemed to get through it an episode or two before. Joss is just a bastard when it comes to couples, and it's kinda lame really. He's all for showing women can be strong, but at the same time he's making sure viewers know that relationships will make you sad and dead.
As for OMWF... if you don't like musicals, it's understandable. It's probably the only musical I do like. Buffy is always pretty lame, so I don't think it ruined its cool to have the characters start singing.

For me I thinking it's between Checkpoint and Doublemeat Palace. These are two episodes I watched the least. Checkpoint was a very important and well scripted episode. It exposed that the Watchers Council was all bunk and bureacracy. I liked it a lot. Buffy throwing that sword was super hot!
