I was in the comic shop yesterday and noticed in "Previews" magazine that #32 is listed in the solicit as "Twilight, Part 1 of 5."
So it looks like the arc is back to 5 issues, from 32-36. That means either Joss's arc is down to 4 issues, or they're going to 41 issues with the season.

Thanks for the report. Though... so far, I haven't seen the good that comes with more story-telling space... in it's entirety, "Retreat" was quite the hot mess. Hoping it's all better utilized here. As far as Joss' arc goes, he was thinking 5 issues, but Allie thinks he can do it in 4... but perhaps that has changed. I mean, he's gotta be already midway through the scripts by now... Jeanty is already working on #34... No reason to work the poor guy to death if the scripts don't come in a timely fashion... art will be rushed regardless then.

I suspect that's why Scott built two months of fill-ins into the equation, between Meltzer and Joss. He knows Joss is gonna be late with the scripts, and it would suck to have rushed artwork at the climax of the season.

Well, possible fill-ins. Nothing definite yet, right? I suspect that you're right, though... Dark Horse does seem to have their planning down pat in terms of fill-ins and one-shots. Isn't Joss' arc more of a denouement, though? Since Meltzer's is supposed to be the climax.

I'm thinking Meltzer's arc will be the "revelatory" one (in Scott's words... or word), but Joss's will be the actual resolution. Twilight may be taken care of in the Meltzer arc, but there's still the matter of banishing magic and all that. I think Twilight is just a "Level Boss" and there will be a lot more left to do after him.

Well, that's what I mean... Twiligh's reveal and taking care of him will be the climax, which is Meltzer's arc. But if Joss is gonna be handling the aftermath, then that's the denouement. Unless of course, you view the banishing of magic and whatnot an extension of the climax too?

I don't think Joss's arc will be a denouement so much as the real climax. There are more important things than Twilight.
4-5 issues would be an awfully long denouement.

4-5 issues would be an awfully long denouement. We already had this conversation a while ago. I said that 4-5 issues was a long denouement, but you argued that there was going to be plenty left to do after the defeat of Twilight. I guess it depends on what exactly we'll consider the climax, and where that ends. Hopefully that'll become more apparent soon enough. At the moment, we have Jeanty's word for it, that "Twilight" will be the climax. But let's wait and see.

I don't see how Buff will get herself out of this one unless they pull a coup and make the world think she is dead.
It's different to be hated by the "secret" demon world, but for mankind to be against her...seems like that may not be resolved as easily.

I saw two preview pages up for this issue, which is strange because we haven't seen anything from issue 31 yet right? They aren't colored in yet, and I have no idea what's going on, but I'm intrigued.

Well, that preview was... interesting. They sure are keeping things light-hearted, considering that a huge number of their friends and comrades just died messily. And Xander is just a liiiittle over the top, there. Amazing how much difference the color makes in these comics. I assume that was Willow, in the scenes with Dawn? "Can you phase?"... I think we can assume Kitty Pryde-loving Joss put that part in? I have to say, I'm really surprised at the tone this series seems to be taking at this point in the story. I know JW is perfectly capable of switching from wackiness to tragedy in the blink of an eye, but I was thinking it would all be a lot more heavy and angsty by now.

Very exciting preview pages, although it seems like Buffy will rescue everyone from Twilight rather quickly. Xander's geek out moment is awesome, as is Dawn's jealousy. Plus! We learn that Buffy can do a whole lot more than fly like read minds (hopefully with more precision than last time), and it wasn't confirmed, but it seems as if she has some sort of phasing ability, not unlike X-Men's Kitty Pryde (who is Joss's favorite character).

Preview added to original post. I don't think Buffy can really read minds, Wyn. Xander's response seems to point to the contrary. Interesting little preview... and I'm surprised that MTV of all sources has this. But whatevs... previews are always good. ETA: HERE's the accompanying Brad Meltzer interview with MTV.

A little spoiler-ific, but nothing we probably couldn't have assumed for ourselves. I guess Buffy will rescue them in #31. And Satsu survived the battle! I figured she would, but, happy dance! Very concerned for Leah, though.

Posting in spoilers for those not wanting to read the previews... Wow, major Bander vibes, especially how Willow is talking. Wondering if this has anything to do with Twilight; the entire triangle situation. Also, interesting that there were major Bander vibes before Tibet, before Buffy gave up her powers, and now that she has been super powered... Xander has her full attention.

So... I'm hoping the Newsarama will have more pages for this soon... Going by the page numbers in the file name, I'm going to guess that these are pages 7 and 8. Unless Dark Horse is gonna get stingy on us again... wouldn't be the first time.

OKay, so I did a in-dept analysis of those 2 pages, and here what I think, in spoiler tags to be polite Okay, so based on that, Dawn and Xander's relationship is now public (or at least, known to Willow). I can't wait to read 31 to know how it came out in the open.
Even if the relationship is now "official", Dawn still seems unsure of how solid it is. She is obviously jealous. Great, I love jealousy, it's so fun! (Remember jealous Angel and Spike?!). I also love how Dawn is quick to emphasize how she and Xander doesn't have any power. Even though she had recently been a giant/centaur. In her world, being normal is what define her, and she believes that because Xander is normal too, they belong together.
Now I hope Dander is not going to give way to Bander. Really hope so. Because I never liked the thought of Buffy and Xander together. The kind of support Xander provides needs him to be with her not as a lover. Scott Allie lastest Q&A hinted that Bander's not going to happen, but you never know...
