Day 8 of 24 premiered last night in the US. This is the trailer.
Joining the cast of 24 are SMG's husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff.
I'm sitting in front of the TV now, watching Hour 4. My heart is beating madly! Anybody else watching this season?

Great premiere! All four episode have been enjoyable as heck so far. They introduced a ton of story arcs, for nearly every character, but are balancing them well. Renee was absolutely fantastic tonight.

Really enjoyed the first episodes. I'm no 24 expert, only seen the last season and now this, but the setup is already better. Took me awhile to get into Season 7, but I'm already addicted to S8 and can't wait to see what happens next. Renee really was amazing.

I've watched every season so far (only once though, so I'm not an expert either) but this has definitely been one of the better premieres, imo. I agree, everyone has interesting story arcs, and since David Fury's producing and writing I wouldn't expect anything less. Although it seemed to me that they really played up Kim's return, but we haven't seen all that much from her yet... I wonder how they will use her character... And Renee...! ....when she cut off that guy's hand, that was classic Jack. So much that even Jack looked like he was witnessing a nightmarish version of himself. Whoa!

I have the first two episodes (that's 4 hours!) waiting on my DVR that I have yet to watch. Hopefully I will get to it sometime today. I am excited for Freddie's role this season.

Freddie's been pretty good so far. His character isn't a carbon copy of Chase Edmunds (from Season 3), which I was worried about. I hope he gets involved in Dana's storyline soon though, because he's had some good stuff out in the field, but not so much at CTU. Plus, Cole is already on Team Jack, which already makes him likable.
The CTU boss, Hastings, may be the biggest tool in 24 history.

The CTU boss, Hastings, may be the biggest tool in 24 history. Given the number of bureaucratic a**hats in the history of the show, I would agree with you on that. Here's the promo for Hour 5 (8pm-9pm) Since it's Faith appreciation, I half expect Jack to say to Renee, "Are you the bad slayer now? Am I the good slayer?"

This season is off to a pretty good start. And yay for Freddie! I just hope he makes it through the whole season. I keep getting paranoid that his character is going to be killed off at any time. I think it will be interesting to see how things play out with his character and his fiancee. What will happen when he learns of her past? And Renee has definitely gone off the deep end! Can't wait to see how that plays out! The CTU boss, Hastings, may be the biggest tool in 24 history. Haha, agreed! But at least he was nice enough to tell Chloe he had misjudged her, so maybe there is hope for him yet.

Me too... he didn't get much camera time in this week's episode. Renee's character is getting better and better. Anybody used to watch Alias? I know he's supposed to play a Russian arms dealer, but I kept thinking, "hey, it's Sark." Also, Dana seems like a tough cookie.... so it's hard to see her get beat around like that by her dick of an ex.

She needs to just shoot him and get it over with.

Tonight's episode was pretty boring up until the last 15 minutes when a lot of WTF happened.

Does anybody else just want to shake Dana and scream "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" in her face many times? I get that this is television, but she is probably the dumbest character I have ever watched. Talk about taking a bad situation and making it worse and worse. This story started out with some major potential, but now it's just cringe-worthy.
Liked the episode though, the twist at the end was cool.

Hey, she's got a gun and is in stalker mode now, so I say it's about time. Smartest idea she's had yet.

Oh yeah, because murdering someone is the best way to handle your situations. That always ends well.

Yeah, but still, Renee has some major excuses and problems of the mental kind. And I'm sure she'll be dealing with some consequences. Dana? "OH NOES! I might lose my job and my fiance!" There are tons of alternatives she could persue and keep both or one. And does CTU not do background checks on their employees. I know I'm nitpicking, but it's just bugging me.

Wow that really is bad. I guess it's because there was a House repeat before it, so people just assumed 24 would be too. The Olympics are probably another factor. Hope it picks up again.

If a show's ratings drop 16% in one week...then yeah I think that may have something to do with the Olympics.
