I gotta say Boys and Their Toys was weak compared to Mooney's earlier stuff. I didn't enjoy those issues like I did his run in ATF Yeah i honestly thought it was his first time drawing Angel which is why i disliked him a lot, BATT looked like something from a really odd superhero dream. I just don't think it was a great idea to hire him to draw that arc.

It was supposed to look like something from a really odd superhero dream, though, so YAY, WE WIN!
I gotta say, Mooney + the colorist on the annual = Mooney's prettiest ANGEL related art. It is just perfect.

I have to admit, when I first started to read After the fall, I didn't like comic art at all. I hated Urru's and Mooney's work, and I thought any comic art in general looked hideous, partly because I just couldn't see the actors in the drawn characters, and because I wasn't used to the comic medium.
But now I love Mooney's and Urru's work, and comics in general. In fact, I've spent hundreds of dollars on their original art.
And I want more, so much more, from so many artists, but with IDW spitting out comics, I think I'd better stick to buying those instead. But that Jenny Frison(also a artist it took me a while to like, even tough I'm into comics now) cover for 28 makes me smile everytime, even tough I hated Angel portayed like that the first time I saw it, but now I think it's hilarious.

After checking out the annual i have to agree , the inker did a great job and made Mooney's art stand out (Which im starting to like more now that i've seen the preview images of the new issues.).

I think everybody agrees that the art in aftermath left much to be desired but I was impressed by the improving quality level in #29, and the previews for #30 look alright . . . let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best

My favorite artists would have to be Urru, Messina, Mooney and Denham. And my favorite covers are ATF #9 and #16. Right now Casagrande is the artist and I like it so far.

I haven't fully read any of the books since I dropped the title after the Dru two-parter, but from the previews, I've noticed a drop in production values lately. And not just in the linework. The thing that bugs me the most is the coloring. It generally looks amateurish at best, and at worst... well, let's say that I've seen my brother's coloring work (his teachers suspected that he was colorblind), and the quality really isn't up to par at all. Anyone noticing the same thing, or am I just pining for the long gone days of Fabio Mantovani's work on the final issues of "AtF"?

The coloring in the last issue was off for sure, but other than that, I haven't had any complaints.

I dunno... it's all just seemed kinda lifeless and dull to me lately. Kinda washed out, lacking depth... uninspiring? Maybe it's a low quality preview thing? I mean... going back objectively, most of it is adequate, but something is not jiving for me. The art in general, is just kinda meh. Not really bad, but not really worth a second look. But, then again, I'm not a paying customer, so if those that are buying the books are happy, then mission accomplished, I guess.
But it's becoming quite evident that the better talent is currently involved in the side projects... the pages from "Barbary Coast" are a lot more of what I was expecting for the continuation of such a big franchise. But then again... Urru. Nuff said.

Yeah, pretty much. In my eyes, he's the best artist working in comics today. Utter brilliance.

I'm actually not a big fan of Urru's work. Had this conversation with you before, but the gist of it is, I don't like his heavy lines. Sometimes, it all just looks too bulky and stagnant. BUT, I appreciate that it's his style, and I also like the fact that he doesn't photoreference extensively. When you see his work, it's pretty much all him, and not just a copy job. And having said that, he's the best artist I've seen work on the ANGEL franchise so far.
