No no no, this is DEFINITELY not in general. The way I say it with Buffy is, all the characters contribute to the story in different ways, so even if they are evil or whatever, I do still think that they are an interesting, entertaining character. Sorry mikey.

You don't think there there were ANY character writing mistakes? That all of BTVS is perfection? I wouldn't go THAT far. There are characters in Angel I don't like that much, one of them being Connor.

I'm with Slayer489. I've never HATED any of the characters, of course there were times when they annoyed me, every character did that at least one time, mostly when they were ment to.
Kennedy and Riley, yes they were at times annoying, but they had the moments when I thought they were great. Kennedy and Willow was a huge mistake, she was a terrible replacement for Tara, but I did enjoy her character, she was tough and very intelligent. Braty? Yes. But that was who she was.

Well that's sort of what I ment. I like all the characters, and don't hate any.

I think it's funny how we're discussing this in the No Future For You Part 1 thread. Lol!

The only character I hated consistently was kennedy, though there were a few I liked for a long time and grew to hate (eg cordelia on angel from about half way through s3 onwards).
But I think just about every main/major recurring character on the show has had at least one episode or story arc where I didn't like them.

I can't think offhand of a time I didn't like Xander. He was consistently likeable in every episode I can remember. Other than that, I agree

I have no recollection whatsoever of Dead Man's Party except that I think there were zombies involved. I somehow forgot about the wedding incident, but even then I can kind of see why he did it.

Xander still wanted to date her, but she was too angry at him. Regardless, it wasn't the best idea Joss has ever had, but it wasn't completely terrible either.

You don't think there there were ANY character writing mistakes? That all of BTVS is perfection? lol perfection? Come on lets not forget season 6! (while we're on that topic...) It was anti-climactic. They could have written a way for Xander and Anya to split that would have been good. And they didn't. It felt sloppy, rushed, and unrealistic. And it made Xander look like King of the Jerks. What he did to Anya was HORRIBLE. You're right. Hells Bells is a terrible episode. The worst in fact. Season 6 actually works (and is far better) without "Hells Bells" at all. No lie. It's the only moment in the show's run where I'm like: This show just wants everyone to suffer and it's not fun or rewarding to watch. Stupid, stupid decision. Connor is an awesome character btw. I didn't like post season 2 (angel) Cordy, and was never very fond of Tara. She was just a bit of timid nothing. Perfect victim, and served that purpose well. Kennedy was shoe-horned in. Her character actually reflects that. An ego thrown at the screen as she needs to be centre of attention in a very short time.

The fact that Tara was so timid was part of her charm. She wasn't much good for anything, which is what made her so great. She basically replaced Willow and Xander in their "helpless victim" roles after they outgrew them and before Dawn came along, but she was great at it. Getting beaten up a lot was her thing.

I felt Tara brought a lot to the show. She was everybody's confidante when it came to the big things. Buffy's mom's death, Buffy feeling she came back "wrong", etc. I thought her Family episode was fantastic, and I wished we would have gotten more Tara centered episodes. I completely agree! She was like Xander in the sense she "saw" what others couldn't. Only she was a little more insightful and empathetic which is why everyone turned to her. I really liked her relationship with Buffy in season 6, I felt terrible for Buffy and it was nice she could speak openly to someone.

There are no "normal" people left in Buffy. They've all either died or stopped being normal. Which, in a way, is fitting of the drastically new situation of Season Eight. In another way, it's bad. It makes the crazy nonsesnse that goes on harder to relate to.

Yikes, I'm way-late posting about this issue, but I don't wanna just let it go by without saying anything, so better late than never, I guess. I haven't read thru this entire thread, so if I'm repeating anything that's already been said, I apologize. This was my favorite issue so far, and not just because it starred my favorite character. The focus and direction of it seemed more clear than any of Joss's 5 (#5 wasn't so bad, except for the non-linear-iness of it; the first four were sort of all over the place at times, like he was trying to cram 6 issues' worth of material into just 4). I'm hoping Faith won't have to kill Lady Savidge, for her own peace of mind as much as anything else. It'd be great if she (Savidge) could get away at the end of the arc and be a recurring baddie, but if not, maybe Faith can get to her, show her the error of her ways, and turn her back toward the good side. Giles considers that impossible, believing she's irredeemably evil, but all I can think of is Spike captive in the Initiative, believing it's Buffy's doing and ranting about how he was going to kill her, no matter how brilliant she was. Cut to Buffy in class with ink all over her fingers: "Stupid pen." Perception and reality are usually very different things. Hopefully, Giles is wrong in this case. But mostly I hope she'll get away and be a recurring troublemaker. It's been awhile since we've had a new, interesting Big Bad on "Buffy" (sometime pre-S7, at least), and based on early returns, Savidge looks like she could fill that role, big time. Huge props to BKV for creating a brand-new baddie, rather than just recycling a previous one (Joss--Amy and Warren? Seriously? ). And what's really weird about this one is she's, well... cute. Kinda reminds me of S4 Willow. Of course, she's not as cute as Willow (who is?), but she's got that kind of look. If this were an R-rated comic, not PG, I'd be willing to bet Faith might change her mind on that "not going downtown" stance once she actually got a look at her. And the Giles/Faith scenes in this one were great. I'd never really considered how much the two of them actually had in common. Too bad we only get to read these scenes, 'cause I think they would've been awesome on-screen. Plus, I'd love to hear Eliza doing a fake English accent... ;D

As far as recurring villains go, the First is still out there, so it could conceivably come back at any time. I doubt it will show it's face for a while, mostly because everyone's still sick of it from season seven, but it's only a matter of time before it pops back up.

As far as recurring villains go, the First is still out there, so it could conceivably come back at any time. Geez, I hope not. It was tolerable, at least, in "Amends". S7, forget it. Lamest villain ever. I'd like to think that after four years of reflection, Joss & co. would come to the same conclusion and not make the same mistake twice. Now that Ethan's dead, about the only remaining villain I'd love to see back is Dru. Amy, Warren, the First... no thanks. Hopefully Savidge is the start of an injection of some fresh blood, no pun intended...

Perhaps Dracula still might show up. I kind of hope not. It was great popping in the DVD and seeing an Episode titled "Buffy vs. Dracula", but that was enough of him, I think. Drusilla would be terrific, though. Hopefully we get to see her soon.

OK I finally got my copy I thought it was really good and is definately in my top 3 faves of this series. I just loved the little things like the Beatles sweater Giles wore, Xander's Sunnydale swim team shirt, and Giles saying "five by five"

Just wondered what you guys thought. On the two page spread of Buffy and Xander talking, who thinks that the extreme close up of buffy raising her eyebrow is the best likeness so far? The next page just looks, to be honest ugly and that hair does nothing for the buffyster.
