this issue was just...W-O-W
I love the dragon's name and also all the story around it. Cordy being Cordy was the best moment, I'm gonna cry wiht the last issue, I'm sure.
Just one word for this: EPIC.

I'm hoping Gwonner survives. Obviously Connor is pissed off, and it's easy to understand why, but Gwen shouldn't be punished too severely, she's being manipulated. Kudos for her zapping away Spike and telling him shut up.... that was cool. Eh, Gwen can go either way for me. She was a cool recurring character, but she is a wee bit overrated. I kinda disagree about the punishment issue, because think about it this way. Michael from "Lost" was being manipulated. Does that take away from his crimes? I'm probably just biased when it comes to Gwen, seeing as I'm a crazy person who lists her in my Top 10 favorite Buffyverse characters, but I can understand why she is doing it. I think if ANYONE didn't have the ability to touch, they would do everything necessary to change that.

I agree with you about Gwen. Absolutely understand why she's doing it.

Well I was just floored by this issue. Brian promised that it was going to be a doozy, and well, he was right. Before I get to the actual issue, I'll just say that I absolutely love the Wesley cover Runge did. I saw both in my local comic book today, and while Garner's cover is amazing as well, I just had to get Runge's cover. Really fantastic work.
For an issue that was almost entirely exposition (there are, maybe, 4 or 5 panels of action), this was my favorite issue of After the Fall yet. I know I have said that a lot with prior issues, but after rereading all of the issues prior to #12's release, I felt like issues #1 and #5 were the best. My favorite is this one now. So many revelations and we have 5 issues left to go.
Did anyone else get a huge giant smile on their face when Connor said the dragon's name? So cool that his name is Cordelia, and I also loved the story that Angel told the actual Cordy about how the dragon started to believe his name was Cordelia. As for Cordelia, well she was just perfect in this issue. So happy to see her back, and also really happy to see Angel tell her he loves her.
This issue almost had a snowballing effect to it, each page just got more exciting than the last one. The stuff between Wesley and Gunn was fantastic, as was the moment Wesley learns the truth about what has been going on.
Emmie brought up a great point about Wesley's First Night story, and I can't wait to see how Wesley being the "key" to W&H's victory ties into this issue, as well as what we know for the next few issues. What follows is pretty frightening, and Runge's 2-page spread was easily his best work so far on the series. The spread of Angelus standing over the sea of bodies was one of the most striking images in this series yet, and it makes me even more excited for this series (which was already maxed out, I thought).
So now we finally have our answer about the Shanshu prophecy. We first learned about it waaaaaaaaay back at the end of Season 1 of Angel, and now we finally have our answer. Yes the Shanshu was about Angel, and yes he will not be on the side of good during the Apocalypse. Just a brilliant surprise that I was not expecting, which really floored me and made me love this issue even more. Well done Brian. Plus we also have to remember that we aren't exactly clear on Wesley's intentions, so was he even telling the whole truth? Another thing we just have to wait and see.
Mooney's art was also fantastic, some of the best work in the series.
So glad that this was not the final issue of After the Fall. Bring on issue #13!

Not a lot to add that everyone hasn't already said. This issue was great. One of my favorites.

This seems to be the opinion of a lot of fans. That what we're shown is the reality of the Shanshu prophecy. I'm suspicious of W&H and believe they're flat out lying. Showing Angel what he doesn't want to see (him massacring everyone) in the same way they showed Wesley what he did want to see (Fred and him together in First Night). I believe it's an illusion to manipulate and torture Angel, an effort made more powerful as it comes through Wesley who is the voice of the Shanshu prophecy. It's original translator and the one expert on the subject Angel would trust most.

I believe it's an illusion to manipulate and torture Angel, an effort made more powerful as it comes through Wesley who is the voice of the Shanshu prophecy. It's original translator and the one expert on the subject. I agree, and I think of the two possibilities, it makes more sense to believe that what W&H told Wesley wasn't entirely true. This brings up the question again of Wesley's true loyalty. I have faith that Wesley will always make the right decisions, as he has been nothing but faithful to Angel ever since finding Angel broken and bleeding on the streets of Hell-A, but if what W&H showed Wesley isn't entirely true, does Wesley know that? They could definitely be misleading Wesley, who in turn misleads Angel and everyone else, but from the little blurb we got about issue #13 and then issue #14 as well, I wonder if Wesley knows W&H are (potentially) lying, and is just going along with it in order to set up the events in #13? Lots of questions were raised about Wesley that I certainly didn't think about on my first read through, which is why I love SlayAlive so much.

Hey guys and gals, what's shakin'. So happy that everybody seemed to dig issue 12! I think this is the best issue of the series yet, writing-wise(art could be better...), Brian just keeps topping himself. Wait'll you read the next couple... so anyhoo, what does a guy gotta do to answer some questions about the artistic processes of After The Fall? We doing an interview or what?

I loved the issue.
I'm so glad Cordy is back! She better not be "evil." that's what that other lame Angel comic did, what was it called "Old Friends?"
anyway, I noticed Cordelia was in the inside cover of the issue...kind of..um not ok right? LOL I mean it gives it away but gladly I didn't notice it at first or suspect it was her. Only until Connor called the dragon Cordelia did I have a hint that she was back and whaddyaknow she was on the next page. Now the REAL gang is all back together, even with the Doyle mentions too.

Yeah that was weird, her being on the inside front cover. They did that with Kate, too, in FIRST NIGHT. Ah well...

This issue rocked my socks! I'm really wondering about Wes. I don't think the vision he showed Angel is correct. The question then is, is Wes being manipulated or is he purposely showing Angel an incorrect future? Cordelia was just perfect, totally sounded exactly like she did. Spike had some really good lines even though he wasn't in it much. "Doyle coming soon" Got so excited when I read that. Dude you did a rockin job. Very impressed with your work. How was doing the art for a whole Angel issue? Yeah that was weird, her being on the inside front cover. They did that with Kate, too, in FIRST NIGHT. Ah well... So I guess they don't give you any control over that sorta stuff?

Um, okay, couple of questions/ideas.
Was the double page spread supposed to be Angel, or Angelus? At first i thought Angel. But then realised all the bodies were what looked like humans.
Then when i thought it was Angelus, I remembered back to when someone mentioned "what if Angelus has been seperated from Angel, and there is set to be a fight between Angel + Angelus".
Why did they give Wes the knowledge and vision? surely that ruins what their final plan is, coz Wes just told everyone? Unless i read it wrong?
And in my mind, i think we can trust that Cordy, IS Cordy, because of her reaction to Wes telling everyone the plan. WH surely wouldnt orchestrate Wes telling the story, and If cordy is WH, why would they make her act surprised and interested? Sorry just a ramble, but its the inner thoughts of the issue for me

thanks wydam, you just made my day happier Faithswatcher: i think cordy is really cordy, cause she said that she never appeared before cause good has to keep out of hell a, but now she could come in, cause angel was almost going to heaven (?).... i think the master plan of WH is to make angel go nuts and go bad... the only thing that could destroy angel, is the death of all his loves one... cordy, fred, wes, gunn... they're all dead... i think the WH gave the altered version of the shanshu to wes... the shansu it's about angel as we know it... so i think that he will do that of the photo.. but not to kill all humans , but all the demons... see angel was almost dead, and disbelieved so... let's poison his mind.... so thats what i thought... if Bryan linch read that: congratulations for this issue... was really really the best...

O...M...G...
I just read it. I can't even form a thought... best comic. EVER. (And I'm a comic-reader from way back.)
Wow.... Totally trumps this month's Buffy. No offense to Joss, but this was by far the superior issue. Wow.
Bryan, are you SURE you don't want to keep doing Aftermath? Who needs money, right?....
