In many ways, I think I am still reeling from this episode. I do not think I can ever excuse FOX for the cancellation of Dollhouse (and Syfy's misguided decision not to pick it up) followed by an entire season of mishandled, faulty, and largely non-existent promotion.
What a poignant and unique conclusion to the series, this was. Maurissa and Jed should have been given more reigns over the season, I feel.

I claim Victor/Anthony Ceccoli. Time for a new avatar/banner set.

No, the woman in that scene is not (and might I add, looks and sounds nothing like) Eliza Dushku. Nate Dushku has made two appearances, as far as I know, in the Whedonverse: First as the robber in "Orpheus" and later as Clive Ambrose in "Epitaph Two: Return."

I doubt Dollhouse would survive on the CW considering the channel's current roster. I do assume the series would do well on FX however.
Personally, Supernatural is the only series I can stand to watch on the CW, but I watch it on Fridays now since it airs at the same time as Fringe.

Attempting to mold the Buffyverse mythology into a Judeo-Christian structure, is bound to be a rather thin comparison, as Joss Whedon's humanist values certainly precede his forays into religious allegory. The First, to me, is Whedon's depiction of all the wrongdoing that mankind has inflicted on itself, and it might have been his way of questioning where this violence comes from. The First is far more representative of dominance over human will (to contrast with Buffy's ideals of individual freedom, equality, etc.) than some eternal struggle between absolute good and evil in the Bible. Not to mention that the moral ambiguity through which the Powers that Be worked in both Buffy and Angel, basically negates the notion that either series ever tried to do a God vs. Satan spiel.
As Xi mentioned, the Buffyverse mythology already deviates from the Judeo-Christian by the first episode of the series.

as for 'Caroline' - are we 100% sure she is the 'real' identity in Echo??? I do think Caroline is the real identity in Echo, in terms of her memory belonging to that specific body. Interesting that I just read this comment after making a thread concerning the issue. However, I do see Echo, after breaking out from the conditioning parameters Topher set in place, becoming just as real as Caroline herself. It is just a question of what will eventually happen to her (Echo) since as seen in Epitaph One, eventually Caroline will (supposedly) have complete ownership of her body.

Great additional information, wytchcroft. I remember Joss citing The Matrix a couple of times, although not directly in association with Dollhouse, but I figured there must be some influence of course. Same with Philip K. Dick, whom I would be surprised if Joss had not been influenced by in some way.
Not to mention he has frequently admitted to reading Wired Magazine, and that alone is a veritable source of inspiration.

Echo, while clearly being Dollhouse's protagonist, is not the original personality of the body she is in. I have been pondering since the very first episode what will be the implications of Echo having more control of Caroline's body and her surrounding as she becomes self-aware. "Vows" especially made me question where Echo path is leading. Will Echo eventually decide to exist solely in Caroline's body, or will she instead sacrifice herself like Dr. Saunders could not? Will Caroline store Echo somewhere if it does come to such an end? The series has grappled with this issue, and not subtly, as Echo has now twice asserted that she is "the porch light" and that the real personality is in fact Caroline, and yet she is also a part of Caroline now ("She's me, and we're both coming to get you"). I've theorized that Echo is perhaps the "cure" against being imprinted in Epitaph One, which Adelle disdainfully tells Laurence that Caroline is in possession of, but still, this does not answer the question of what Echo's ultimate fate will be. Although we see Echo fully realized in the Russian girl scene with Paul, the episode later skips to where the person we see is supposedly Caroline and no one else. This ambiguity is as frustrating as it is intriguing. Recently, Eliza Dushku also told reporters, regarding the second season and Echo's growing self-awareness: "Although this season will see Echo learning still more about her background as Caroline, she is actually getting further away from her original self. Her personality is becoming distinctly Echo, and some aspects of Caroline’s past aren’t necessarily things Echo wants any part of." SourceSo, what are your thoughts? What do you predict will happen to Echo? To Caroline?

I recently watched the 1998 film, Dark City. By the end of the movie I realized the parallel themes between it and Dollhouse were uncanny. Without giving to much away, one of the morals of the movie is that humans aren't defined by their memories or what's in their minds but by their souls. The similarity isn't quite as simple as that but I don't want to spoil. I haven't found any official link between the two, but if anyone has, post it. If anyone else has seen it and has an opinion, post it. I urge anyone who hasn't seen it to check it out. It's a great movie on it's own and I'd love to hear what other people think. There does exist some thematic similarity between Dark City and Dollhouse, but other than that, there does not seem to be any official link between the two (if by "official" you mean that Joss or one of the writers have cited the film as an influence). A more common comparison, in film, would be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Otherwise, as far as I remember, the only influences actually cited by Joss Whedon are: Eliza Dushku's actual life and career (young actress being pulled into different directions by shady Hollywood executives while trying to maintain some semblance of self - "she can be anyone, except herself") as well as Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Never Let Me Go, and Battlestar Galactica of course (post-apocalyptic goodness).

Man, True Blood is on serious fire. Easily one of the best series on TV at the moment. Definitely surpassed Supernatural a while ago, and is on its way to coming head to head with Buffy and Angel.

I'm actually not much of an avid musical fan, but I do love theater, so I've seen and heard quite a couple, as well as starred in 3 thus far. I'd have to say my favorites right now would definitely be, without counting Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which is just epic, Ragtime, Oliver!, Reefer Madness, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
I'm currently auditioning (Monday!) for Kiss Me Kate, and I'll also be in a school production of Rent next semester. Definitely psyched about both, so I hope they turn out well.

Something Echo/Caroline says in Epitaph One is possibly very telling of what they might do with Amy Acker this season (Spoilers ahead): "Glad to see the doctor back in the house. Didn't expect to after they fixed your face."
It would be plausible to say that Dr. Saunders might leave the Dollhouse for a period of time, giving Joss and the Happy Town guys time to figure out how much of Amy either one needs.
