A candy bar ad? Awful. Using a fake mugging as a way to sell a product, and not even tell the public if Seth was actually attacked or not is pathetic. I'm glad Seth is okay but it's a little too far in my opinion because of real people who are mugged or worse every day. I don't know what's real and not real anymore. And now I'll only be more skeptical of everything I see.

It won't stop me from enjoying the comics, but there's certain moments in season 8 I have problems with. I'll be at the comic book store Nov. 4th for issue 30 after work, and that's a long drive out of my way, so I'm definitely a fan regardless of some of my qualms and frustrations.
I notice I haven't really said anything positive in this thread, so I'll say I like how distant Buffy looks and feels in issue 29. She looks fragile, but is still focused enough to deal with the situation in front of her. And I usually don't like depressed Buffy, but it's working for me right now.

Andrew, but those examples of the death toll at Sunnydale High are pretty small compared to vampires being public to the entire world. It's easy for me to ignore the small stuff in TV shows. And it's just Sunnydale, where I can believe people are in denial and brush off the craziness of the town and move on with their lives.
Sure, there was graduation day with a giant snake and vampires, that's pretty much a huge outing right there, but why I can deal with it is because it's a small town and the info stays there. And it's not as if Sunnydale residents discover vampires and embrace them. They are scared when they find a dead body in a locker, and fear vampires and demons other than a few people.
And it's not the outing of the vamps that is really frustrating to me, it's the public's reaction. I can't buy the idea that society likes vampires that kill and feed on humans, which Harmony basically said on Colbert. So people aren't oblivious to the fact vampires are dangerous and evil.

I'm still trying to accept the concept that the public has embraced vampires and hates slayers. Maybe if they fleshed it out and explained it I could understand, but I'm not expecting that to happen at this point. It's a stretch and kind of bothers me.
I cannot see our society responding to vampires favorably. I'd be terrified. I think it's a huge deal to out vampires and change the entire world, but we don't get a real inside view of it. All we're told is vamps in, slayers out. I personally need more, and I understand there's only so much room to tell a story in a comic book, but realistically much of Predators and Prey wasn't important and they could have expanded on it and told it then.

eric, Halloween is my favorate horror film of all time, and would make my top 10 as well. It's perfect, the tone, the simplicity, the killer and the way he moves, the pacing, the music, etc. I hate what Rob Zombie has done to the series. I don't know if I can really make a list of my top 10 of all time, but I could make a top 10 of some of the best movies I've seen recently.
1.) Battle Royale 2.) Audition 3.) Let the Right One In 4.) Hard Candy 5.) American Beauty 6.) Little Miss Sunshine 7.) A Tale of Two Sisters 8.) Juno 9.) Only Yesterday 10.) The Dark Knight
I love Hayao Miyazaki films, and horror movies like the original Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead 1 and 2, etc. And I can live off of 80's films like Sixteen Candles, Heathers, and The Monster Squad. Maybe I'll attempt a top 10 of all time list later, but that sounds impossible for me.

Wenxina deserves karma for cleansing the board. I will never comprehend people who behave like that. Anyway, was Seth Green really mugged? E! contacted Seth's reps and they said no comment.
I can't imagine Seth doing a parody or mocking of someone being mugged, especially in this day in age where it feels more dangerous than ever. And it lacked humor if it was supposed to be a joke. So I assume it's real. Scary place.

Restless about a month ago.
After not watching a single episode of Buffy since 2003, I restarted the series again August 2007 (why do I even remember that?) and I'm only now starting season 5. I'm moving slowly.
Maybe I don't want it to end, and I'm delaying the inevitable because whenever I reach the end of a series, I feel a little empty and there's nothing else to look forward to. Same with Veronica Mars. I secretly wish for a movie, but realistically know that's not happening.

Wenxina, I read the description for issue 31 a week ago and forgot the details, read it again just now and wow, that's almost too much info for an issue that's still four months away. But I'm happy it's not going to play out so simply.
Hope Bay survives, Joss can't kill off another character so quickly, she was just introduced. And the downfall of another relationship? No thank you. I think the next issue will give fans a lot to talk about, and I'm especially intrigued after reading Whedon's interview in Wizard Magazine.

Not a lot of dialogue or story, but I love the artwork. And Juilet's comments and the photo's included are great bonuses and makes it feel even more so worth the buy. So I'm happy with the Drusilla two part story, even if it was short on story. Slightly confusing at points however, but maybe it's supposed to be up for interpretation.

This is my least favorate issue of the Retreat arc so far. The war feels comical, which isn't helped by some of the art and faceless characters in the background, and I'm not feeling the tension or the threat of the matter. It's unusual.
On the final page, I hope that isn't their way of winning the war. It's too easy and once again an out of no where save that magically fixes the problem. Hope I'm wrong.
Monroe isn't very consistent. He's dead, he's alive, he's an enemy, he's on Oz's side. All over the place. I think issue 30 will deliver.

Hi, I've been lurking the SlayAlive forums close to 2 years now, and I finally decided to join. I'm 27 and I've been a fan of Buffy since episode 1. I remember doing math homework in middle school watching the series premiere. It feels like yesterday, and makes me feel old. It was the 90's just a second ago...
This board seems to be one of the top Buffy boards (if not the top board), and I'm glad to be here.
